How do we know this involved Brentford fans? How do we know that they weren't a bunch of other fans claiming to be Brentford? How do we know that, if it was Brentford fans, that they instigated the trouble?
Those who say that comparing football to the real world is a tired of cliche, but frankly I disagree. The amount of trouble that goes on in most town centres on the weekend is disturbing. The amount of trouble at football is relatively insignificant. You cannot get rid of violence anywhere. There's a limited amount of violence even at baseball games, there's an absolute shed load of it in other countries, it's prevolent anywhere. The fact that it is limited at Brentford should be applauded. I am sure the club and Police would do what they could to keep it this way, because we sure are not Millwall.
The fact that every time an incident happens, surely adds fuel to those who aspire to be a football hooligan? It's not obvious on matchdays, but the most publicity it gets is on here. Unless incidents involve innocent bystanders which is totally wrong, or occur within or the immediate surroundings of the stadium, then I don't see why "trouble" gets discussed so much. It goes on, it will go on. No solutions ever get discussed, and imho, the BYE are not a major threat to the enjoyment of my watching football. If people disagree with that, fair enough, but I can only talk from my own experiences. If it is really that bad at Brentford, then as I have said before, if everyone feels so strongly about it, make a protest to the club, make up a petition or something to show that it will not be tolerated by the vast majority of the fans.
