Black Signing Imminent as Fitzgerald Departs?
<img src="https://griffinpark.org/images/tblack.jpg" hspace="5" align="left" alt="Tommy Black" style="border:1px solid black;">The GPG understands that Brentford are hoping to complete the signing of Tommy Black from Crystal Palace on a one month loan deal tomorrow (Wednesday).<br><br>Winger Black, 27 this month, started as an Arsenal trainee before joining Crystal Palace for £500,000 in the summer of 2000 and in total has made almost 200 appearances, mainly at a higher level, but often as substitute. He has made just the one outing this season in the Carling Cup but last season spent a successful spell on loan at Gilliingham.
He was a transfer target for Brentford under Ron Noades in January 2000 when he had a £250k bid for him accepted by Arsenal. However Black chose not to join us.<br><br> It's not known at this stage whether he will be eligible for the FA Cup game on Saturday, but the timing of the deal would indicate that he is.<br><br>Tommy's brother Michael spent one month on loan at Griffin Park from Arsenal without making a first team appearance in September 1997. <br><br>Discussion on this yet-to-be confirmed news here please.<br><br>Meanwhile, it is believed that unwanted striker Scott Fitzgerald has joined Basingstoke Town, also on loan.
