Close season cash?

If Martin was given that sort of cash to spend we would have been in administration by now. On that score I don't think we're out of the woods for 2007.

You can't spend what you don't have and if you do it gets you in serious trouble, which is what we're in.

The big worry for me is that we're apparently spending Matthew Benham's emergency fund on these players.. So can someone tell us what's going to happen in the close season when there's no money coming in and nothing to fall back on???

Exactly the question I will be asking at the BU board meeting on Saturday and I suggest you and others attend the AGM prior to this to ask the same of the BU board members on the BFC board.

I believe the traditional answer is that the budget has to have a degree of risk attached to it, even if the club is pretty close to administration. I assume that the budget will include either a cup run or player sales, after all if we've had these things in recent years it's safe to include them again :sorted: :fishing:

This season it was "significant risk" :(

Has anyone (other than I assume Joe Bourke) done a calculation on the differential between spending the money now and avoiding relegation or not spending and accepting the drop.

I need to look at the figures which i don't have to hand but whenever a finance director is asked to put together a set of projected financial accounts they ought to be expected to deliver a set of scenarios to the board based on a) management expectations b) base case scenario and c) worst case. Standard practice really. So I would expect the BU board to be cognisant of all the various different scenarios.

I think we should be looking at reducing the wage bill not increasing it. We are down, so why not look to save the loanee wages for a survival fight in 2007.

I don`t want this, but what other choice do we have?:(

People have donated to Fighting Chance for the new manager to use in January. It would be wrong to change the rules now but I agree with you as far as the money that KD mentioned when Fitz got the job. If that's coming from anywhere apart from the directors pockets.....

It pains me to say it but i think we are chasing a lost cause now to stay up, new signings or not.

I am slowly falling in with the line of thought that says save the "War Chest" funds for next season and a good stab at a promotion chasing campaign that, God forbid, may even be FUN to watch !
