Nathan Elder To Sign from Brighton?

According to North Stand Chat, the Brighton fans' site, we have agreed a fee of £25K for striker Nathan Elder who is discussing terms.

Having signed Murray from Rochdale and Dixon from Aldershot he is apparently now surplus to requirements.

Conjecture, gossip, guess or fact.............

Surely they've got the height wrong? One league goal in his career; no better than Monty...

Surprised Dixon has moved to that level - thought he was a bit of a showboater.

Hasn't really mastered the jump from non league yet but hasn't had much opportunity. Scored late equaliser the other week at Oldham.

Maybe he will flourish if he is given an opportunity to be the main man.

Their fans seem pleased that they will get come cash for him.

Hopefully we will find he has pace and power and is good in the air with an eye for goal too!

Not too much to expect for £25K is it?

Looks like a smaller version of Sonny Liston.

we wanted a striker, gutted we didn't get Rooney, but this is the sort of player we need, bit of pace, something different, bring it on.

Jonny Dixon = ******, wasn't he part of those two shades of blue cun&s that wallopped us 4-0 at Adams Park a few years back.

£25K, thanks MarkBFC, nice to see you splashing your Sunday Times money already :sorted:

he dosen't look to bad
his goal scoreing record for the non-league club was amazing
he could be the perfect league 2 player

This was the Lad I believe we have been chasing, then suddenley Brighton decided to put him into their first team... Maybe to get a fee?

Nathan Elder To Sign from Brighton?

after reading their messageboard can we give the lad a chance, if we do sign him, far too easy for people to make an impression merely on what they read on another messageboard. Looks like it hasn't worked out for him at Brighton, and doesn't sound like he will be missed, although I bet those bummers weren't saying that when he popped up in the 90th minute at Boundary Park a couple of weeks back.

If you do sign Nathan, good luck, lets see what you can do. :sorted:

5'9" tall and 1 goal in 1 game for Brighton?

We need a target man not an inexperienced short-house!

Was about to say why all the hype over someone on a messge board starting a rumour.....:fishing:

Looks pretty crap from the Brighton perspective.

Was hoping we could unearth a gem, never mind, maybe he will shine for us!?

Nathan Elder To Sign from Brighton?

Did he start out at somewhere higher up but not make it? Has the england caps at younger age groups and doubt he would have got recognised at a club like Billericay...

Nathan Elder To Sign from Brighton?

Don't know much about him, other than what I have read on here. It doesn't appear that he will be greatly missed by the Brighton fans, but he may have a point or two to prove if he joins us.

I hope he's taller than 5 foot 9 and that he has some pace.

Nathan Elder To Sign from Brighton?

The Brighton Clapper board is bound to slag Elder off. What they are really sayig is ''Brentford, keep your hands off''
I remember people on here bumming up Paul Brooker just to get shot of him.

Nathan Elder To Sign from Brighton?

from Evening Argus today (Tuesday)

Wilkins also talked up the frustrated Elder, who has been an almost permanent fixture on the bench since moving from Billericay a year ago.

The Albion boss said: "Nathan has probably looked as sharp as he has looked in a long time. And Gatts (Joe Gatting) has come back from Woking looking sharp as well, so that is a good sign for us."

I'm not sure I agree with those that are saying "no good, not big enough". I've seen plenty of giant centre halfs who swallow up everything in the air but I've not seen many who could cover 20 yards ijn much more than a jog. How many times this year have we seen our forwards running beyond the last man? Not often - with the likes of Smith, Connell and Poole playing balls into channels, a pacy striker could be exactly what we need.

I agree. I know its traditional to want a big 'un up front for this league but the thing we lack at the moment is pace through the middle.

I think we're creating enough chances now. We need someone to put them away.

Sorry couldn't link but there are quite a few posts with fans who rate him but not Wilkins who hasn't given him a chance and are keen for him to stay.

Nathan Elder To Sign from Brighton?

Pace and strength is far more important at the moment then a big slow lad. With players such as Smith and Connel playing through balls it would give us something extra.....as long as he is quick.

 Someone to get `in behind` a defence lacking in mobility. Since Scott took over we have been trying to slide more balls in  and a pacy striker could turn a half chance into a good chance.

We are the Barcelona of league 2 and Samuel Eto'o is 5ft 9 and quick :fishing:

Hit the nail on the head with this. Exactly my thoughts.

The need for pace upfront was there for all to see last night.

and it's not like we don't have a player up front already who's good for nowt but heading is it?

Nathan Elder To Sign from Brighton?

If he does sign, guess we're going to have to judge him against 'giants' like DJ and Nicky Forster.

Nathan Elder To Sign from Brighton?

we dont actually though thorpe is supposed to do that but he doesnt, people seem to think he is good with his head just cause he is tall he aint he is sh*t wins about 2 headers a game lol

Ricky Shakes is all of this:(

Seems a pretty strong rumour if the bloke is suggesting £25k fee and that it is already agreed...

he wins lots of headers, he just doesn't direct them to either his team-mates or the goal.

besides, he's certainly not good for anything ELSE...

Very good post Les. I'm totally in agreement with you. IMHO Thorpe is past it now. He never was a profolic goalscorer and I dont think he would be missed at all. NE could just be the next DJ.

Ironically Thorpe was exactly the type of player we needed to bring on yesterday for the last 15 minutes but didn't :banghead:

What? To hit someone with his 2 foot tackles?

I think Andy Scott was right to keep Montague on, let's face it apart from fouling the centre half, getting caught offside and heading the ball to nowhere what else would have Thorpe done ?........that's right FA.

Nathan Elder To Sign from Brighton?

He's not five foot nine, I'd guess about 6'2" or 6'3". He's a big lad, and strong. I've only seen him once or twice in very late sub appearances, he's not had much of a chance for Brighton.

steve phillips was a great little striker ---- but he did play alongside the wonderful andy mcculloch which helped him a bit.

our manager scott wasn't a prolific striker but did lead the line well....

if we sign him, won't we have too large a squad given we only run one senior side? we will have five strikers for two places...

lol

Last night we had a 16 man sqaud, three of whom are only here for a month at the moment, and had Mousinho, Ide and Charles left.
Oyebanjo and Dark might be registered but I can't see them being involved much, especially as Dark is out on loan.

I can't see we have too many players, even if they all stay.

Plus we have four or five key players all on three or more bookings
