I've got mixed feelings about this.

Whilst I'm not going to miss Thorpe (although I wish him luck at this new club), assuming that we're not going to get another striker in today, doesn't this move leave us a bit short of cover in attack again?

There was a fair amount of activity at the ground tonight. Additionally, there was a BU Board Meeting and Andy Scott popped-in to to say hello and talk to us about the day's dealings. I think it is fair to say that Andy was very happy with the day and this was at 10:30ish. He said that the 5 or 10 minutes he was in there was the only time his phone had not been ringing. However he was waiting for confirmation that the faxes had gone through on a last-minute deal.

Everyone's gone home from the club now so I don't think there will be more official news tonight. However, it will be worth checking the news tomorrow morning.

Well credit where credit is due if Thorpe has followed Mackie out of the door (had heard that Brown was also going) because it takes a Man to admit his mistakes and Brown, Mackie and Thorpe were all AS recommendations from his book of 400 so to have seen them destroy anything TB was trying to build by their ineptitude, to watch helplessly as they ruined TB reputation (almost!), and to benefit from his demise as a result, it is a brave man who holds his hands up, off loads 50% of his picks and from here on in I will be joining the AS love in.. fishing

I'd be gutted if I was a Rochdale fan. According to the report on Sky sports...they've bought in Thorpe as a replacement for Glenn Murray...not exactly a like-for-like is it? One scores alot, and then there is Thorpe :D

I have a lot of time for you GB but despite knowing you and Bee H are both good mates and thus that means you have links to AS, my information is that Brown was always "coming back to London" and that there was a future career element to the reason for that. My source claims that AS was aware of that and put his name to Butch who of course new him from his time in Scotland. Many would assume that he was Butch's man but I am led to believe otherwise.:fishing:

Now we hopefullly can avoid the abusive responses from my army of Canary Wharf based admirers' and clear this rumour up once and for all

Rochdale must be desparate. I for one am glad to see him leave. There was always the risk of him being sent off for his infamous 2 footed tackles.
I wish him well though , except if he plays against us.

I'd like to think the new man is another striker then or if not then a decent right winger.

Thorpe wasn't great by any stretch but would have done a job as a squad man.

Having said that assuming Elder turns out well him and Connell with Montague on the bench would leave no place for Thorpe so it does make sense providing we don't get injuries.

Shall be intrigued to see who we've signed
