Absolutely agree, whether its the top 14 or 16 European teams, I think it is astounding that England have such a high ranking. Somewhere around 20th. would seem to be more realistic.:D

Surely we should be much, much lower?

The rankings are totally flawed, but generally we have been far higher than we should have been for many years now.

We are a better team than BRAZIL, ITALY, PORTUGAL, MEXICO, ARGENTINA... the list goes on. I feel embarrassed that we are placed so high, yet are so, so poor.

i say it regularly and often, but this surely proves that however they're working it out, they're working it out wrong :nono:

well, anyway. i think it goes 1-2-3 and then there's a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig drop :)

we have about 62% of the "ranking points" that Spain have. i.e. we're miles behind :)

Same as tennis, the womens number 1 has yet to win a grand slam.

Utter codswallop, but it is done on points in all games and not on competitions won. The great thing about football is the best team only sometimes wins so the ranking are a waste of everybody's time.

We have a terrific unbeaten record against footballing giants such as... erm... Ghana... Switzerland... Montenegro... Algeria...

We definitely deserve to be that high.

We are a better team than Montserrat, South Sudan, Aruba, The Seychelles, Guam.... the list doesn't go on.

I'll give you The Seychelles and Guam. Tough call between you, South Sudan and Aruba. Montserrat have a stronger midfield though, and would be my top pick.

Yeah they definitely need to change the way they do these. Brazil are better than England, Spain are Better than Holland. Maybe it would be more accurate if they didn't update them every week based on friendlies against teams like Belerus.

So let me get this straight. Given the bizarre way these rankings work we aren't even the fourth best team in Europe but we are the fourth best in the world. I was going to suggest Platini must have done the maths but he hates England so that can't be the reason

Only one loss last season (h) v Holland

Played 12, Won 8 Drew 3 Lost 1
That's top 4 form

In 2010-11 We played 9 Won 5 Drew 3 Lost 1
Only 2 losses in 21 games in 2 years

We've lost 4 games since beginning of 2009/10 season, firstly to Ukraine, then to Brazil, France and Holland... The latter 3 (at the time of the matches at least) were hardly 'easy' teams... I would say that is pretty good form.

Brazil are down because they are not required to qualify for the WC and therefore are only playing friendlies. So the rankings are not any sort of true reflection. they tell half a story.

there's facts and there's "facts", come on now, England are just not the 4th-best team in the world.
