Lloyd Owusu

BOOOOOOOOOO!
Good luck, Lloyd.

Lloyd Owusu

Come back owusu!!!!!

this was my fear! :nono:

thankfully he won't be. :D unless we play Cheltenham in the Cup.

He's not what he was. Remember the old days, the last time Owusu returned he was worse than what you think of Elder. IMO.

Lloyd Owusu

Neither are we.

but Owusu isn;t the answer to what we need as a player, Owusu would need 1st team games, not to be a back up or No.3/4 forward as Connell became.

Lloyd Owusu

I was hoping Cheltenham go down. Now i hope they go down but with a high goal scorer.

Lloyd Owusu

........................good luck Lloyd............................

Lloyd Owusu

The local paper here says that if he completes 28 games this season he will be offered a contract for next season. Now why didn't we think of that?

Not sure if you're referring back to his second spell with us. If so, he played 28 games at least in his first season, so would have been offered a contract for the second season, virtually all of which he then missed. We could have offered him another contract at the end of the second season if we'd wanted to, but (a) he probably wanted more than we could afford, (b) he seemed to want to stay in League One, (c) his injury record would have made him a bit of a gamble.

Those points would also apply if you meant we could have offered him a contract now.

I was referring to second spell, yes I stand corrected this wouldn't have worked for us.Hope he manages to keep fit and play a couple more seasons.

Lloyd Owusu

Has joined Brighton until the end of the season.

The cheltenham chairman says Martin Allen didn't want the player to go but he has had to over-rule him, for financial reasons

I sense trouble ahead...!!!

If you're 9 points adrift at the bottom and you allow your top goalscorer to walk on a free it's safe to say you're already in trouble.

Lloyd Owusu

I think Cheltenham are resigned to relegation and are trying to prepare and gather in as much money as possible for next season.

We did with Rankin, and thats why he stayed, and Deon left

Time to get the garden into shape for summer again, Martin

Lloyd Owusu

There is a managerial vacancy at The Withdean, maybe MA will be on his way there.

Lloyd Owusu

Who'd want to touch him after his last three jobs?

Lloyd Owusu

Strange decision that they let him go to One of their biggest Relegation rivals would be a bit like us letting Charlie go to Rochdale :eek:

Lloyd Owusu

I think they have already written off this season.

Lloyd Owusu

:owusu::owusu::owusu:

Lloyd Owusu

I think Sebastian Coe would be a more suitable candidate for managing the athletics track at the Withdean? :)

Lloyd Owusu

So Russell Slade is his manager again having offloaded him only 6 months ago. I wonder if Lloyd knew that when he agreed to the loan..........

good point

Lloyd Owusu

I think Owusu has been offloaded for financial reasons twice this season - Yeovil had instituted a freeze on new players unless players left and Owusu was probably one of their higher earners. Ditto, Cheltenham are getting rid of as many higher earners as possible.

In reality he left us because we couldn't afford to offer him a new contract twice, yet it didn't put him off coming back to us. A good pro.

Lloyd Owusu

I was indeed at Cambridge that day but saw enough poor ball control from
him to last me a lifetime.

I suppose an absolute donkey can be a "good pro"?

Lloyd Owusu

If he had time to think he was less than deadly. He had terrific pace which got him into so many scoring positions but it was a shame that under MA he was used as a "big" centre forward and high balls were continually lumped up to him which wasn't his game at all and was a waste of his abilities.

It was a shame that under MA he was allowed to go and play in a meaningless friendly international, whilst in the middle of a promotion campaign, and get himself injured and out of the game for nearly a year.

Then blame the BFC board for letting go without checking if the Ghana FA provided adequate insurance cover...

or our then physio (the one on the Wycombe bench the other week ;) ) for taking Lloyd to a knee specialist about his groin problem (allegedly/apparently) ?

it wasn't meaningless for Lloyd. The friendly was an outside chance for him to impress the Ghana coaches and earn a squad place for the 2006 world cup. At the time the club had a policy of allowing strikers to leave to pursue 'chances of a lifetime'.

It WAS a meaningless friendly and there was no chance Lloyd would've made the Ghana world cup squad, did you see the players in their squad? Lloydy wouldn't have made it in the first 50 let alone 22.

That decision to let Lloydy go and the one to offload DJ cost us promotion and has plunged the club subsequently into the 4th. division.
Both decisions made, by his own admission, by Martin Allen.

Taking off your rose-tinted spectacles you must agree that Owusu's second spell at GP was not very good but was just hitting some sort of form when the injury happened.

Martin Allen is second to none at man management and motivation and we had some great times under his leadership but the important decisions he made were not in the interest of his employers (Brentford Football Club) but more beneficial to various individuals, including himself.
