Team vs Shrewsbury

-------------------Hamer-----------------
---Newton---Wilson---Bennett----Wood---
--Williams------Bean---Halls------Poole----
------------Elder-----MacDonald----------

SUBS: Brown, Kev, Ademola, Dickson, Phillips

The Defence and Attack Picks itself as we have quality in all of these departments. The only worry is the midfield, Williams and Poole on the wings are good, But we have a problem in center midfield. I think the best combo we have at the moment is Halls and Bean

Think thats spot on.

Agree with the CM. Although Bean and Smith will look good when he's back.

Agree. Kev for Halls who was the invisible man last night.

Team vs Shrewsbury

Hamer
Newton Wilson Bennett Wood
Williams Bean O'Connor Poole
Elder MacDonald

Subs: Brown, Phillips, Halls, Dickson, Ademola.

Everyone who went to Bury will know Kev and Bean CANNOT play together

And anyone who was at last night's game can also see that Halls is no central midfielder. KOC every day of the week.

Team vs Shrewsbury

Kev played well again Yeovil but poorly at RB against Luton. I might be in the minority but I'd give Halls ago on Saturday but play him slightly ahead of Marcus.

Team vs Shrewsbury

Assuming he's fit, Bennett will come back in for Phillips, who would replace Ochoa on the bench. I don't expect other changes though I'd be tempted to put Kev in for Halls

Team vs Shrewsbury

With the ability of Shresbury to seemingly score at will it is important that our midfield has some bite in it, Halls has extremley good skills on the ball but I cannot see him wanting to go into a tough 50/50 ball. Saturday we will need to have some battlers to close down in midfield and for that reason I think Kev would make a better alternative than Halls in midfield with Poole and presumably Williams applying the attacking options and feeding Mac and Elder.

Team vs Shrewsbury

I'd have Pead ahead of Kev.

oh please NO!!

Pead isn't even getting on the subs bench thankfully, even Ochoa got picked before him against Morecambe!

Dickson has to play if he is fit IMHO, but in place of who in that line up is the burning question:confused::confused: We need more strength in CM against Shrewsbury or they will dominate from there, big powerful team they got

Team vs Shrewsbury

Fair enough, but Pead isn't any good IMO!!, prefer O'Connor to start if he had to.

I think it will be Bean/Halls CM, AS won't change it from Tuesday, only Bennett for Phillips IMO.

Totally agree. Think Halls may improve given some time to settle into this position. I think he is a good player short on match practise just like Bennett was when he arrived last season

Saw Smith trying to walk down stairs on Tuesday night. The way he was hobbling and hanging on to the rails for support can't see him back in the team before Christmas/New Year.

Dickson has to play if he is fit IMHO, but in place of who in that line up is the burning question:confused::confused: :

Why? He is a good player when fit, but Poole is our leading scorer and gets an average of a goal every 3 games (over last season and this combined, it's 1 in 2 this season) so it would be madness to leave him out; and Wood has been playing well since he came in the team. I can't see any other position for Dickson, so he'll have to bide his time

Why do some people still insist in playing Oconnor, especially in centre midfield, he just can't play there and that's that, Halls has the energy to play that role which is why Andy plays him ahead of him add to the fact that Halls is a footballer where as oconor is a plodder. I'd have Halls any day.

Playing Oconnor is a backward step for me as far as our current squad is concerned, he just lacks any pace as doesn't move out of the centre circle and runs around in circles, I can't remember him contributing anything from centre mid ever especially going forward, at least Halls looks to commit himself by going forward.

Granted he can be versatile but IF he ever starts it can and should only be at right back for me.

So keep Bean and Halls for now

Just a thought, why not put Dickson in central midfield, he can tackle, pass and run with the ball if needed. Might put a bit of steel in midfield.
As I said just a thought.

Team vs Shrewsbury

Dickson is fine and progressing as a young footballer however he has a considerable amount to learn to even be a good defender. He has energy and can tackle plus he has some pace however his positional sence is sometimes wayward. As such he needs to prove in training that he has more to offer than Wood, he certainly is not capable of replacing Poole, however in my humble opinion I rate Johnson as a better all round player.

Team vs Shrewsbury

I dont understand why people want to drop Poole - He is the one knocking the goals in!

Last year Poole's sole contribution was his goals and i thought he could work harder when he wasn't scoring.
This year i reckon he's doing that and is becomming a really important player. He was running the show first half against Morecombe until the penaltly. Probably the best he's played in a Bees shirt.

I'm officially in the Glenn Poole is God camp as of now!

Surely he would have sobered up before then.

Quite simple why.. as a matter of fact Dickson is too good to leave out...........but not at the expense of Poole.................If I was to suggest who(which i didn't at the time!!) then it would be at Woods expense...but that is not saying Wood is not up to it because I think he is............just Dickson is better, nice to be able to choose though:sorted::sorted:

I'd like to see O'Connor come in for Williams who has absolutley no end product and seems to get scared when the ball comes near him. Otherwise i'd go with Tomisabee team.

Hamer.
Halls, Bennet, Wilson, Wood.
Williams, Ochoa, Bean, Poole.
MacDonald, Elder.

Not sure whether Halls is suited to a wide right role in the team, in fact not quite sure where he is best suited. No doubt as to his ability and class my concern is his (seemingly) lack of effort and commitment which may in part be why no other club went for his signature.

He should be standing head and shoulders above most in this division and it is disconcerting to see that is not the case, does he have the desire to get to a league where his skills should be on show?? I just dont know however I have a concern if he plays in the midfield on Saturday as I beleive we will need players who are prepared to get stuck in and win their battles and I am not sure if he will fit that role. However I hope that he proves me totaly wrong and on Sat we see someone totaly boss the game.

That middle of midfield will be vital tomorrow, they appear to be strong in that department (but they were 2 down after 11 mins to Accrington so they are as crap as the rest of us) and we will neeed to match them. I like Bean but he is hot and cold, KOC is too slow, Pead is pedestrian and covers 5 square yards of pitch so I'm fecked. Halls on the right, Poole on the left and 2 in the middle with my fingers crossed please.
The rest picks itself.

He is the by far and away the best RB at the club and probably the best RMer too but Newton and Williams seem to be seen as too important to leave out.

Not as far as I've seen. He looks as though he should be but he's not proved it yet.

I sort of agree with some of his latter stuff but his performance at Chesterfield showed me just how good he is. Since then we have sort of thrown him in to midfield and a bit of RM whereas the performance at Chesterfield was as good as anything I've seen at RB since KOC's really decent run.

What do you think you'll get from the game?

You've lost 2 games recently and 2 games that on paper you shouldn't have IMO. I think that you appear to have the best side in the league and probably have the best footballing side. Davies is on fire, he's in my fantasy team so that is good but thankfully Walker has been injured;) and Holt isn't really scoring otherwise you'd be away and gone IMO. I always thought that this would be a home loss but after what you did at Accrington I am more than hopeful of a win now. the Accy result reminded me that there are no stand out teams in this league and none that any of us should fear. We were ordinary at Aldershot and I thought then that any good footballing side would tear us apart but I missed Tuesday when we livened up but we will give you a game.

What do you think you'll get from the game?

One of League Two's best strike forces v One of League Two's best defences (it's gonna be either 0-0 or 4-4)
The ref will be on your side, but it won't matter, as we kept the grass nice and long, so our "hoofball" will triumph, and we'll win 3-1, or lose 2-0, if it is sunny and Hamer forgets his contacts...

Don't bring a drum
Don't expect chips, but do try the onions

4,500 ish, if you bring the 500

Does Ben Davies still wear womens clothing, of a weekend ?

Is Sean Thornton still on loan? He's had fun against our middle two in the past and we still haven't moved too far forward as of yet.

nope, they couldn't afford to keep him for another month. I agree, centre midfield could be crucial tomorrow, so I would therefore just tell Wilson and Bennett to smash it long and into the corners, thus missing out the centre of the park :sorted:
