this was my second season of supporting the bees, alan ( ollie )mansley what a winger he was still a hero of mine. dobbo's dad george in the front row. i could name them all apart from frude, think he was a trialist anyway excellent photo.

My heroes!!!! Now, you have to admit that Allan Nelmes bears more than a passing resemblance to an anorexic Bobby Moore!

You can make out the “old” New Road terrace in the background when it went right back to the gardens of the New Road houses and covered the aisle beneath. Was about 50% larger than the current area occupied.

If my memory is correct the terrace at the rear was wooden which is why it was closed. Should have refurbished it then and it could have been converted in to Exec Boxes now and perhaps given us more breathing space! Another bloody half cocked money saving exercise that was only looked at in the short term?

Note the short-sleeved shirts. Another money-saving exercise ?!!

Also, three of the lads have different style-tops (check out the collar trim).

Brings back a lot of memories. Centre-halves with chests like barrels, never left their own half of the field. Short, nippy blokes on the wings. Nelmes with such spindly legs we used to call him "Spider".

Also reminds me that team photos in those days often didn't include manager, coach, physio, goalkeeping coach, juniors coach, managing director etc. Mainly because all these jobs were done by the same bloke!!

I is too young to name this team though I did get George Dobson (easy), Higgy and Chic Brodie. I'm 23 do I get a prize for getting 3!

Do you see that "matador" expression on Bill Brown's face (seated second from left) that was the way he played, like a bloody nancy. It was hilarious when they wanted him off, (about every game) the trainer would hold up his number and he wouldn't respond. It always took other Bees players to get him to acknowledge it was him they wanted off. But before leaving he would gesture back to the bench pointing to himself with an astonished look of "me"?

With the sad news of Alan ollie mansley on the other thread , is it possible to get the team picture on this thread up again.
It was a lovely picture in colour, if anyone can help please.
