Man of the Match v Norwich (18/8/09)

Only vote if you were there. If you weren't there, NAE LUCK.
Hunt for me, the boss in the middle of the park. Phillips was great too - one particularly immense sliding tackle towards the end of the game had me sqeeking.

Sam Saunders gets my vote :)

Philips as I have to admit I thought he'd struggle to make the step up but he hasn't. Hunt was excellent as well as I thought Kev had an off night and Saunders was of course very good.

Saunders is class, how has he gone unnoticed for so long?

Price had a very good game but the goal let him down.

Cort is holding the ball up very well but Weston is not playing close enough to him.

I'm giving it to Hunt who was outstanding in the 2nd half for me after 2 very average performances.

Ohhh it's a tie between Phillips and Saunders... i'll sleep on it.

Honourable mention to Osborne and Cort; both superb.

On evidence of last two games Bennett has been shaky but Phillips has really stepped up his game - I don't know - Phillips or Saunders? I'll sleep on it too. Night night

Phillips, quietly had a massive game...

Saunders gets my vote, Phillips did well too.

Phillips for me too.

He has been consistently outstanding since half time at Carlisle and really stepped up tonight when Bennett went off.

Price for me.

Surprised there's not even a mention for D.Foster so far. The boy is a quality defender and has thrown his body in the way on numerous occasions already this season. His intervention in the second half when many would have given away a pen was crucial.

Saunders is just class, Mark Phillips was immense but Ryan Dickson just about gets M.O.M.

But what a performance all round :sorted:

I'm think Saunders has been my man of the match for Carlisle, Bristol City and now...Norwich. Phillips did well to mind you.

A superb performance by the TEAM this evening; in my view one of the best and most entertaining games seen at GP for many a year. The game was added to by an excellent referee, who let the game flow and who only intervened when he needed to. A very good evening's entertainment all round; Excellent !

Man of the Match v Norwich (18/8/09)

Saunders gets my vote as he was a constant threat and added a creativity and flair that we haven't had in years. Big well done's also to Phillips, Dickson and Hunt on very good performances also.

Man of the Match v Norwich (18/8/09)

Saunders performance has made it a clear "Highlander" moment as far as MOM goes.

Despite excellent performances from Dickson and Phillips in particular, there can be only one! :D

I actually went for Kevin O today, thought the space he made for himself throughout the game was Lampard like, too many candidates as a great team performance

Man of the Match v Norwich (18/8/09)

Plenty of great performances, but phillips for me! held the back line together brilliantly after bennett went off and put in a few great headers and challenges!
Thought he was somewhat the forgotten man last season... but he's played at this level before and higher, and it shows!

Man of the Match v Norwich (18/8/09)

Saunders for me, but special mention for Foster who was rock solid as was Mark Phillips who had that big lump Holt in his pocket. Dickson, Wood, KOC, Hunt..........well in fact they all gave it the proverbial 110%..........

Man of the Match v Norwich (18/8/09)

Saunders for me the special moment being when he made Hold look stupid in the 2nd half by the corner flag about 5 minutes after Holt had floored him. A class act, he didn't has the best game against Brighton but this shows his temprement coming back and putting in a blinder!

....................Mr Wood.....................

Saunders for me, though whole team did well - mentioned to Hunt, Phillips and Osborne when he came on, kept us solid. But its great to see a skilful player at GP in red and white, entertaining the crowd and creating opportunities

Man of the Match v Norwich (18/8/09)

Saunders was classy. Caused them all sorts of problems.

Foster does deserve a mention. Very tidy.

Man of the Match v Norwich (18/8/09)

I thought the ref was outstanding and I would vote for him if possible :D

Went for Saunders, closely ahead of Phillips, Foster, Dickson and Karleigh.

Man of the Match v Norwich (18/8/09)

Sam Saunders - loved it when he made Holt look like a fool!!!:)

Man of the Match v Norwich (18/8/09)

Some very good performances, but Saunders just shades it from Phillips for me.

I thought the ref was excellent last night...only had one query, when Kabba broke away in the last minute of time added on and was repeatedly pulled back, the ref seemed to play advantage but then the flag went up for offside when he played a pass...As the Norwich player was then booked for the foul should he not have deemed "no advantage" and a foul our way...

From the free kick Norwich could very easily have knicked a point..

Just seemed a strange one to me:confused:

I'm going for Phillips. Glad he signed his new contract.

I went for Hunt as I felt he had a good general game in midfield, plus he created the opener and caused absolute havoc with his immense throws( which had more variety than usual) and for his blistering free-kick goal.
But, I have no argument with the folk on here who are giving it to other Bees players, as, in reality, so many of them excelled.
I spoke to a Sky Sports reporter after the match and she said she found it difficult to decide who was Bees' Man of the Match," because the whole team were so good":)

She was there for the first time last Tuesday. She really MUST think we're the Barcelona of the lower leagues

Saunders for me also but it was very close and a superb team display.

Our left and right flanks are top draw...we all knew about Wood/Dickson
Foster/Saunders just as good !

I'm going for Saunders though it's no great achievement to make lardy Holt look stupid - he does a great job of that all on his own. Saunders, on the other hand, looks a class act.

...........the Foster/Saunders partnership is very productive...............Foster is always an outlet for Saunders overlapping or backing up................

Saunders, as said by many people, was immense. But faded a little in the second half.

Karleigh, playing in his best position for once, was very sound. If Bennett is out for a while, I would like to see Karleigh have a run in the side. With his height, strength and speed, he could be even better than Alan.

But my vote for Man Of The Match goes to Lewis Price. He was battered by their big forwards, and that tank of a midfielder, but played an absolute blinder. I think their goal took a deflection, otherwise he would have kept that out as well.

But well done to everybody - a fantastic match!

Great performance by everyone. But I am going to go for Saunders, had a quieter game on Saturday, but last night was fantastic.

He knows that Cleveland is waiting to take his place and just oozes class! :sorted:

Super Sammy Saunders for me. What a gem of a player he is, well done to Scotty for signing him on a 3 year deal as well.

Whilst I dont think he was MoM, I thought Karleigh hqad a very sound game. He looked calm solid and professional. First touch was down the left channel, having just come on rather than do anything flash he side footed it out of play for a throw. Thought that showed great maturity and I would be happy to see him have a run in the team in his favoured CB position.

He also chips in with goals and given we are not particularly strong in the air, I think this helps

Man of the Match v Norwich (18/8/09)

It was a brilliant team effort and I could watch Saunders all day, his skill and enthusiasm are fantastic. I feared the worst when Bennett went off but Karleigh was first class.

However, i am going with Dickson for his goal, his energy and workrate, the way he links up with Wood and I do not remember him putting a foot wrong

Man of the Match v Norwich (18/8/09)

I've gone for Dickson, but there were many candidates: Saunders looks a danger every time he gets the ball in the opposition half; Weston worked hard and is a threat to anyone; Wood was everywhere; and, though I think he'll get few MoM votes over a season, Foster looks an excellent FB, but one who stays under the radar as he isn't spectacular. Price looked shaky on crosses in the first half, but redeemed himself with good saves.

Few negatives: Hunt looked off the pace for much of the game, but can't say too much when he has scored one and made one; and things never seemed to come off for Cort, though he worked hard

And considering he has had the lurgies - the effects of flu can hang around for weeks

Man of the Match v Norwich (18/8/09)

Saunders and Dickson shone out for me but I've voted for Ryan as he crept up behind (I think) Phillips, for his goal, and did a great defensive job, too.

There were many 'quietly good' performances: Price for some stunning saves and being calm when his defenders were handing the ball over to their forwards; Phillips at the back; putting himself about and getting Karleigh organised; Kev for covering the defence; Cort for being the fulcrum of the dominiant period we had in the second half.
