Myles Weston

the top man said 'no one else will be leaving' so i believe him...

what? mccracken's gone since then? oh.

Myles Weston

What is it with Sheffield teams upsetting the apple cart?

Myles Weston

As the going rate for forwards (Darren bent!) is said to be £24-million, perhaps we'd be advised to accept a bid of around £12-million plus a creative midfielder in part exchange.

But then - who would our other players pass to?

Myles Weston

I'd take, £600,000.

Myles Weston

If we sold him, it would show the club had no ambition at all, I thought with the new set up it would stop us from selling our tops players.

Myles Weston

It states it's only an enquiry so they are testing the water to see if we are prepared to sell? Depends what they are offering. Wouldn't let go myself but 500k might tempt us

Oh and didn't he say he wanted to come back south?

Myles Weston

I like to think that we don't give away our players anymore, if MW wants to go then that's another matter. I like Myles, I want him to stay and didn't he say when he joined that coming back to London was part of the reason he turned down a bigger offer from Notts County.
We'll see.

Myles Weston

They are also chasing Lee Hughes according to other reports.

And there was me thinking league 1 clubs wouldn’t be buying in this transfer window as they had blown their budget…………..

Myles Weston

We're gonna need a new plan A. :(

Myles Weston

I wouldn't want Myles to go unless we got a very good offer upwards of £400K. However, I believe that AS' policy of getting the ball up to him quickly and then hoping he delivers hasn't worked this year. the games when Myles was out through injury and we adopted a different gameplan coincides with a run of form and results so maybe it wouldn't be such a bad thing if we are forced to change tactics again.

Myles Weston

Trouble is things like this may turn his head or affect his form which he is only just regaining. As NB says we will see. I know he can be frustrating but I wouldn't want to lose him either.

Myles Weston

Absolutely, he is by far one of our most promising players, who we are going to need to retain if we have any aspirations. We dont even have a replacement for him at the moment, so it would be a pretty foolish move.

Apparently he caught the attention during the recent Exeter match on Sky? Thats really strange, because besides a few nice crosses and the cross for the goal I thought he fluffed most of the chances he had with some poor ball control. Imagine how much interest he would have if he had been at his best form.

Saying all that, I have always said that Weston has the ability to play in the championship at least. Depends how big the offer is, if we got a decent offer for him we could sign a proven striker and perhaps a commanding midfielder with the money? Otherwise, we are in budget and not desperate, so any joke offers have to be rejected.

Myles Weston

I doubt very much whether Alan Irvine was sitting with a mug of tea on Monday night and thought "hang on a moment , who's this ......"

Myles Weston

Needing a new plan A is not necessarily a bad thing!

Myles is one of our top players, regardless of form at points this season, but a sale of around £500k could allow for an adequate replacement and a 20 goal striker IMO.

I'm not so sure that Sheff Weds is that much of a head turner these days but I know what you mean. Anyone can see that on his day Weston is a cracking player but AS needs to share responsibility for attacking options rather than just expect him to be the main threat.

Myles Weston

if we can £500k with a sell on i'd take it, can't see Weston ever really improving on the things that come naturally to top drawer players

Myles Weston

Hang on, aren't Sheffield Wednesday...
a. Up north
b. in our division
c. Chasing promotion like us?
Be a strange career move if he wanted to go there.
He's better off developing for another season or so with us and then going.

Myles Weston

Do not want the club to sell him, unless MW wanted away. Can be frustrating at times but has talent without doubt and potential to improve further. Also one of the few players we have got that has 'flair'. IMO he would be even more effective if we had further attacking options, ie a good RW, attacking central midfielder and quicker/more prolific front man, but 70% of our forward play goes through Myles when he plays. On his day is as good if not better than most in div 1, just needs a little more consistency in his performances, but he is someone we should be building a Championship team around. Selling him would be a big blow.

Myles Weston

at least we have a manager who can say...

"sheffield? why the **** would you want to move up there? it's a right dump."

IMO Sheff Weds are a bigger club than us and have a more realistic chance of going up this season than we do.

If you change (A) to down south and replace Sheffield weds with southhampton then TA DAAAA..Dickson :)

Myles Weston

I really can't see this happening. Myles signed an improved contract just a while a go and showed his intent to stay. I know players heads can be turned, but Sheffield Wed are hardly a catch anymore and was in danger of folding just a few of months ago. Offers of 500k and upwards are going to stretch them IMO.

Myles Weston

........................you know they will offer 75/100k.......................

Myles Weston

Headless chicken, easily knocked off the ball, bottles a tackle, no consistancy with final ball, lacks skill/trickery. Bite their hands off if they make an offer.

Myles Weston

good player but only up for the big games

Not the same though, Dickson is a south coast boy, was out of contract and Southampton ambitious club, Myles wanted to move south, has just signed an improved contract and Sheff Weds have only just come out of admin and I don't think any more chance of promotion than us this season.

Although I can see why you said that but that is 'now'; in two years time he really could have more consistency and could be the real, real deal, particularly outside of the Premiershite.

The other thing that bodes well for his future is his confidence and the way he always backs himself (ie like insisting on taking the penalty at Exeter); never mind that it doesn't always currently come off.

We should keep him, absolutely; and doubtless that was why he got the improved deal.

Myles Weston

If we can get 600K then sell him and invest it in getting the quality midfield player and striker we need. Not for a penny less though.:)

I think you are forgetting the Mandaric factor, buy relatively low, build them up and get them up a divsion and sell high or higher. He's flexing his muscle this Jan window, I think they've got 4 in already.
Mandaric may be a right fecker but he does this well.

Myles Weston

Myles has just signed a new contract. Is there a fee which if offered triggers a release clause?

The worrying thing is we are not being linked with anyone, just a week to go in this window and you just can't help thinking we are going to be left with poo. I see your point about Mandaric I'd forgotton about him.

Myles Weston

If Myles goes (for say £500k :bound:) then we can get Feeney of Bournemouth, along with Robinson and Pearce, for the same cash IMO! !

Make it so MB.............

Myles Weston

Hope he goes. not because of the nonsense reasons posted by kempy but because of the abuse the bloke has had to endure this season from the 'fans', much like kempys post as it goes. he deserves better. being called 'pyles' on here, sub-nursery school insult, if my 8 month old nephew could talk he'd be ashamed of himself with that one. why would he want to stay and have to listen to the filth spouted from the terraces at him if he makes a slip up or doesnt deliver an inch perfect cross? being accused of not trying and only being up for the big games, which is utter crap from what i've seen and i've been to most league games this season.

good luck to the bloke

Would love to see Liam Feeney here. I saw him play a couple of times when he was with Hayes (when they were known as just Hayes) and he looked mustard even then. Had a cracking game against us a couple of weeks ago at Bournemouth.

Who's going to set up those 20 goals.....Kevin O'Connor!!! rofl

Have to disagree - they currently have more points than us plus since Mandaric took over they have bought several players in the transfer window, I would say they have a miles better chance of promotion than we do IMHO

Myles Weston

I doubt very much whether Alan Irvine was sitting with a mug of tea on Monday night and thought "hang on a moment , who's this ......"

I think you are misunderestimaing the scouting of football managers to be frank

Myles Weston

Myles has just signed a new contract. Is there a fee which if offered triggers a release clause?

That's the whole point of the club doing so with him or any other player in case we are in receipt of a bid.

The press state it’s an enquiry so they just may be hedging their bets and have other irons in the fire?

Myles Weston

Not progressed enough since he's been here IMO. That maybe down to the current coaching staff but I don't think Myles has the footballing brain to make the big time.

Myles Weston

Squad wise (if you take a look) they are ahead in terms of quality, experience and depth.

You're probably right but can't see beyond Brighton and Southampton for automatic promotion and while I don't doubt that Sheff Weds will finish higher than us can't see them getting promoted before the likes of Huddersfield and Peterborough.

Myles Weston

So are they under performing or are we over performing?

under performing for Weds hence the signings in Jan and the specualtion of Weston and Hughes. Irvine prob feels a bit of pressure to get them up the league and has asked for re-inforcements.
