The GPG Manager Poll

Who would you like to manage Brentford?

The GPG Manager Poll

Think Martin Allen would give us our pride back but not for a long term appointment.
Caretaker manager from now till the end of the season. Then see how he goes.

The GPG Manager Poll

AS should be manager until the end of the season. If he hasn't achieved the club's target for the year, judgement should be made on that basis. Sacking him now is as likely to prove counter-productive as inspired. It is much more sensible to give a new manager, should that be necessary in May, the whole of the summer to bring in and work with new players, before we play a competitive game.

The GPG Manager Poll

Having looked at comments on the GPG I understand directors at BFC are beginning to worry that AS may no longer be the right man for the job. After consulting this poll they are now trying to initiate talks with Someone Else but are having problems tracking him down.

The GPG Manager Poll

Keith Hill from Rochdale, always been impressed when i've seen them play, they're hard working, physical and play good football. Don't think he would come down south though.

The GPG Manager Poll

Any one who thinks Martin Allen is the answer is sadly mistaken i have a relative who goes to Cheltenham on a regular basis i went a couple of times with him during Allen's reign and have never seen so much hoof-ball, he got them relegated and was in the process of taking them out of the league when he was fired for that night club incident.

The GPG Manager Poll

Coppell
Curbishley
Magilton :suspect:
Holdsworth :shake: went to the shots too soon!!
Buckle
Johnson

Probably in that order

Not MA :mad2: though :( his time came and went.

The GPG Manager Poll

I want to see Harrow Borough manager David Howell given a shot at League management... Having been on the coaching teams at Birmingham & Barnet with Barry Fry and unearthed plenty of great talent at Non-League level on a tight budget, I think he's just what we need...

The GPG Manager Poll

On that list only Gary Johnson,Chris Hughton or Steve Coppell would excite me...but I think we have no chance of getting any of them.

Whatever happened to the bloke who laid all the groundwork for Exeter,Inglethorpe?

No he should go now , The close season is not enough time for the new guy to choose new players and impose his style on the playing field. Scott has proved how bad he is, i feel sorry for the players that have to produce that garbage. My u16 team will be playing better football than the bees do this afternoon..

The GPG Manager Poll

Coppell is an excellent manager and seemingly a very decent chap, and from the list above would be my first choice.
Whether or not he would want the job, or feels ready to get back into management is obviously a very different issue.

Hughton seemed to get the very best from the Newcastle players and with a squad like ours with real potential on paper, I think he could work wonders. Sadly, I think he'll feel he's already earnt the opportunity to manage at a higher lever - which he has, really.

MA does seem to be the ready, willing and able choice, and I certainly think he'll correct some of the issues in the short term (particularly dwindling gates), I've just got a nagging doubt it not working out long term, nor am I convinced the quality of the play will improve.

The GPG Manager Poll

Of that current list, none of those with realistic possibilities (so excluding Coppell, Lewington & Hughton) are in any way interesting. MA would kill us off, more on the gate but less on the pitch; Gary Johnson, Phil Parkinson and Jim Magilton have gone downhill; Paul Buckle done a job but hardy exciting; Holdworth and Forster not really experienced.

I think Nigel Adkins would do a good job.

Game for a laugh!

The GPG Manager Poll

Allen made the club fun, made people want to go and watch. He played a good brand of football and made sure that his team gave it their all, which is the most you can ask of the players. He may be slightly mental but in terms of getting the fans through the turnstiles and a feel good factor back again, we must have him back. Plus if we're being realistic, there is no way coppell, houghton or johnson would come to brentford whereas Allen would need the club to get himself back into management.

The GPG Manager Poll

Coppell and Hughton are pie in the sky. MA would be a great short term solution but not sure he would come or whether he would be good for the long term. Gary Johnson did well at Yeovil and Brizzle city but some dont want him because he is Fulham which would surely rule Lewington out as well. Holdsworth is not really an option ATM. Forster and Parkinson - No thanks. Buckle has done well but not sure he is ready to manage a team hopeful of getting in the CHampionship in the next few years. Magilton certainly new how to find a pass as a player if he had the same philosophy as a manager then he could be a good shout but he is a bit of a risk. Truth is im not sure. I would say MA till the end of the season (if he even wanted the job) and take it from their depending on how we do.

The GPG Manager Poll

If we can get Hughton then fantastic.... sadly there is no chance....

so I honestly think at this stage the best scenario is Scott for the season then see where we are then re-assess... this will most likely result in us staying up Scott going (whether on his own or sacked) and we can see what is out there at that time

I read Keith Hill from someone on the board... great shout

The GPG Manager Poll

Chris Hughton would be a fantastic manager for us, I have seen him talking on Sky, he comes across as a really nice guy and his experience at Spurs and Newcasle would make him the ideal man for us. If he's too expensive I would like to see Jim Magilton, a man who knows how to get the best out of his players and will play nice passing football. If they aren't available I would have MA back like a shot. I think he has matured as a Manager and knows more about the game and individual players.

Let's get rid of the current MANANGER, who's only other experience is Orient reserves and is so one dimensional, head it or hoof it.

Message to the board. These threats of fans not renewing season tickets are REAL....believe it.

The GPG Manager Poll

In an ideal world I would love to see Chris Hoghton take over. Won't happen though. Second solution a young up and coming manager with an experienced number 2, Ray Wilkins or some one like that.

The GPG Manager Poll

Martin Allen, he would give the club the much needed lift we are waiting for and I guarentee he'll get the Lionel Road project moving quicker by constantly nagging the board.

The GPG Manager Poll

Failing getting a new manager use a senior pro,but Andy needs to go now while he can with dignity

The GPG Manager Poll

I wouldn't be averse to giving Tisdale a go..........................

I've mentioned a couple of times how I place his achievements far far higher than those of Scott's. Few agreed, but I think some may have come around since.

I haven't voted yet as I am torn between Hughton, Coppell and Johnson. Having said that, I do not expect or believe that Hughton's next job would be anywhere near League 1.

The GPG Manager Poll

Tottenham's Alex Inglethorpe

The GPG Manager Poll

If coppell wouldn't come out of retirement to manage palace, he's not going to for us.

The idea of allen returning is romantic and dare I say exciting but I'm not sure it would be the right move for the club. The brand of football would not be significantly better either.

No to johnson as he is a fulham ****.

If we had any chance of getting curbishley to come because of his friendship with mills, then get him in whatever the cost.

Parkinson or buckle are decent shouts too. But I'm not sure if they are neccessarilly improvements on what we've already got. That said, parkinson has won promotion out of this league before with a smaller club than us.

The GPG Manager Poll

Regarding Chris Hughton, he is just another out of work manager who is unlikely to get a manager's job in the Prem although a coach or assistant is more likely. I agree it's unlikely but if he wants to be in charge at a club, it's only a phone call ......

The GPG Manager Poll

Nicky Forster give him a go, and if things come on top, get someone in till the end of the season.
I think Fozzy has what it takes to be a good manager.

Assistant to Hughton ......

The GPG Manager Poll

Having seen yesterday's performance I believe we are potential relegation candidates. With MA our chances of survival would be much greater, though I acknowledge the concerns of some and a short term contract might be best.

Those who denounce the likes of Johnson for connections to Fulham, QPR, or whoever, are fools to my mind. If he came and took us to the Championship I don't care about any previous connections.

If not MA long term, then I am not sure. Why has Curbishley been so long without a club? If he was keen that might be interesting.

The GPG Manager Poll

Assistant to Hughton ......

Yes, or Fozzy played under Allen at Reading they could team up till the end of the season. They have a good relationship I think, he voted him man of the match against Exeter and was bigging him up.

I can't see Andy Scott being let go till after the Exeter game, because I can't see us winning that!

It would also show we have ambition to improve

Good shout this one, it's one of the only postings that make some sense, we need to take stock and not do a knee jerk reaction, as for some other postings they are pie in the sky, Coppell is NEVER going back into management, Hughton is Champ/Prem material, Martin Allen is useless, he walked out on us in a fit of petulance and went on to even greater failure elsewhere, from the poll I can't see anyone else who would be proven to be any good/better than AS, most of them have been sacked at one time or other, so who does that leave us with? not much choice is there!!, don't know much about Keith Hill but have liked the way Rochale have played.

What we need is an experienced manager who has previously won promotion, played attractive football and has never been sacked and would love to come to BFC................................ Oh dear, I can't think of anyone who fits the bill, can you?

I cant help but notice the past tense in your argument. Yes he may have "won" promotion but he's on a course to relegate us, he may have "played attractive football" but it has been so bad this season and is driving the fans away. He does have skills as a manager but has completely and utterly lost it this season and should go now otherwise we are on a course back down to league 2, then the long term goals will be even more messed up then firing him would.

I think you have totaly misread the post, I'm not talking about AS, what I'm looking for is a manager who fits that bill, can you name him? because I can't!

The GPG Manager Poll

Tottenham's Alex Inglethorpe

:imwith:

Begging letter/emails/phonecalls to Coppell hopefully in the post right now.

Otherwise MA will get these players playing & bring the fans back.

The GPG Manager Poll

Senior Pro then it is as a short term to get players head up to make sure we steep clear of bottom 4. Yday sounds a shambles and a lack of explanation still why players were played out of position and better players left on bench is am insult to first rate travelling fans. Further

The GPG Manager Poll

so what are you saying . keep scott . by the time the pro scott fans say let him go we will be getting gates of around 4000 and in league 2 . i would like to know what you mean by saying allen is useless .MA team wouldl destroy AS team and he had no money

I would like to see MA back loves the club and the fans more than Scott does the crowds would come back and you never know what he might be able to do with a bit of money. The team we had with MA was far better than this squad with no money so I reckon he could do a good job. He is older and wiser know so should have learnt from his mistakes. I will never forget when he came on the supporters coach at Torquay and thanked everyone for coming would AS ever do that? Course he wouldnt. Give MA a short term contract till the end of the season and go from there at least it will be more fun.

We already are :(

The GPG Manager Poll
