I hope it turns out well for Alex. He’s been one of the better players to come through the B team. The B team set up is there to try and get each one of them through to the First Team, if possible, but if not then to try and get them to a standard where they can make a career as a professional footballer and I’m sure that we all wish him the very best for his future and thank him for being part of BFC. Looking forward to seeing him alongside Marcus Forss next season.

Compensation money pretty much pays for Kim Ji-Soo and Brierley

...........good luck to him..............

Just remembered, we will get some percentage of future add-ons as he was with us in his formative years...

Good luck to him. Hope he breaks through at Boro. His goal scoring record for the B team when not even a forward is staggering.

Does a percentage of that go to West brom(?)?

Good luck to him. Reminds me in a way when we signed Josh from Arsenal. He dropped down a division to gain valuable game time and think this will end up being a good move for him. Think he will do well under Carrick.

I may have said it on here before.

But I had heard from a reliable source that he’d have featured more in the Championship in 20/21 had it not been for the pending tribunal decision about what compensation was due from us to WBA.

If you look back he made the bench 9 times and played 2 FA cup games at just 19 years old. Was also playing for ROI U21s at that time. Really on the cusp of a breakthrough.

Our promotion coupled with a loan that fizzled out at Swindon really halted that progress towards our first team. A shame because he’s a player that is very pleasing on the eye.

Final nail in the coffin was the lack of EFL loan / contract extension last summer. Another year with the B team won’t have done much for his development.

All in all a good move for him to Boro provided he gets involved in their first team games before long. Needs that consistent exposure to first team football now. Sounds like there is a comp deal agreed without the need for a tribunal, so they won’t need to worry about paying more should he hit the ground running like we did 3 years ago.

Coincidentally, Forss took the exact same route of WBA>Brentford>Boro.

Credit to the lad. Has shown respect.

I wish him every success. Especially if it results in a sell on

Seems about his level currently. It feels like like dropping from Bees to the Championship was a bit much for him on so little senior experience, so needs to play his way up to that level.

He'll be hoping for a loan back there next season I'm betting. Then again, I don't know how settled their side was, but did start only four of his 14 appearances.

Has just struck the post, playing for Middlesbrough and the rebound struck the defender and went in for own goal. It’s on the television.

I remember him playing as “Trialist” for the B Team in a couple of matches on my laptop during Covid. I found out who he was a few weeks later. I watched him in a couple of games and thought we had to sign him. We did and over time I got the feeling that he was probably just too slow whilst playing lovely football. It took him a while but he seems to be I think established in this good Middlesbrough team now which is nice to see.

I’m not surprised he’s doing well. He looked very classy for the B team, if lacking a bit in pace and power. He especially linked up well with Ryan Trevitt — a great pity that Ryan has had a series of significant injuries as he did look like he could make the grade at one time.

still very young.

Strange, as they communicated on signing that he'd signed a four-year contract, ie. that he should have a year to go. Maybe whoever wrote it considered three years and a one year option to be "four year".

Might be being "given a free transfer", as we used to say ⬇️

You can't give a free transfer to a player under contract - unless they want it.

Yeah, which he might be angling for after 47 appearances in three seasons, mostly as a sub. He's probably in discussions to try and get some kind of reassurance about playing time.
