  • Hiya,

Only inasmuch as I studied at Lancaster University so I adopted North End as my 'local' team and often went down to see them play when I was a student. This was the late 1980's - the plastic pitch era - which was a good time to be going to Deepdale as Preston were just beginning the long haul back from their decline to the bottom of the 4th Division. They won promotion in my first season up there and were often pulling in 10-15,000 crowds. At GP at the time we were playing in front of 3,500 so I thought the atmosphere was electric! Preston are one of a handful of clubs that I still keep an eye on.
While playing stud poker with 3 mates in the Doncaster supporters club next to the ground in the late seventies, being asked by 2 locals.
