At this moment I firmly believe something must be done. Without seeing Lossl in action against EPL side we won't be able to come to any conclusion about what to do with a goalkeeper slot in Raya's absence. I always think that our manager and coaching staff have the benefit of having information...

MotM Man of the match v Southampton (A) 11-1-22

Bryan. Norgaard and Janelt could be in consideration if not for the woeful passing and Ajer did reasonably okay but it seems unfair to give MotM to a centre back when we conceded four. Mbeumo at least looked like his regular self, always threatening in the vicinity of their penalty box.

Final Score Southampton 4 Brentford 1 (Janelt)

As a fan of both teams I expected this to be an enjoyable game where any result would be fine to me. Yet it hurts. Oh, how it hurts... I didn't expect Brentford to be so disjointed and lifeless. Many Southampton fans are skeptical about Hasenhüttl but I admire the culture he instilled in the...

Final Score FA Cup R3 - Port Vale 1 Brentford 4 (Forss, Mbeumo 3 (1p))

For me the biggest revelation from this game was Lossl's distribution. Pressure or no pressure, he was always spot on with his passing. In this regard he looks much superior to Alvarez.

MotM Man Of The Match v Aston Villa (h) 2-1-22

Hard choice, but sensing that Roerslev would be a favorite because of his goal and assist, I cast my vote for another Mads.

What a finish! And build up for the goal was what doctor ordered. Everybody involved in the attack made a smart and quick decision, and Villa was caught napping. Great, great goal.

Final Score Brentford 2 (Wissa, Roerslev) Aston Villa 1 Att: 16,876

We are pathetically slow everywhere - in breaking high press, in carrying the ball forward, in anticipating where to run and what to cover. With such pedestrian pace I can only guess where our goals will come from...

Yes, your metric is objective and mine is simply an addition to it without any intent to be the primary one. At the end of the season I'll try to play with data using my spreadsheet, just for the fun of it.

If you don't mind I'll keep adding to the MOTM stats for the season. After 21 official games the total count of votes in all threads is the following: 1. Christian NORGAARD - 773 (18 games with at least 1 vote) 2. Ivan TONEY - 493 (15) 3. Rico HENRY - 354 (16) 4. Vitaly JANELT - 273 (13) 5...

Janelt. Played out of position, unusually deep for him, yet in the second half not only he covered his area of responsibility, but was one of the few who could carry the ball forward. Immensive workload yet he nevered seemed knackered.

What a turnaround. We utterly lacked quality but team spirit and resilience were there. Mbeumo hugging Janelt immediately after the final whistle is kind of symbolic: these two carried the team on their backs today. Vitaly. What a player.

MotM Man of the match v Everton (h) 28-11-21

Happy for Alvaro, impressed by Goode... but Toney was exceptional. He was everywhere, tenacious, aggressive, winning balls in the air and on the ground. He was the great disruptor, and Toffees will see him in nightmares tonight.

Final Score Bees 1 (Toney p) Everton 0 Att 16,957

It was an ugly win, but win nonetheless. We stopped the bleeding, earned the cleansheet and that's what matters now. Yes, Everton's pressure in the second half was beyond annoying, but they didn't have any real chances to crack our defense which finally looked like a cohesive unit. All in all...

MotM Man of the match v Newcastle United (a) 20-11-21

Toney is an obvious choice, but I decided to vote for Henry. Superb finishing in the second goal and was instrumental in the third.

MotM Man of the Match v Norwich (H)

Pinnock in the second half of the game. Was sweeping everything, winning duel after duel with amazing ease. It's not like Norwich was that fearsome to warrant Ethan MotM, but when they carried the ball close to our goal, he was always there, ready to shut the trap. Pinnock deserves an nonorable...
