    Sergi Canós

This is the Sergi Canos thread, I don't follow your logic. Why is it so unfair to talk about areas of weakness? Indeed comparing us to the top half highlights our potential to improve in all areas. I haven't said anything about the rest of our squad getting into top half teams but I'd agree...

    Sergi Canós

Great work rate and defended diligently but not a left wing back and just isn't offering enough going forwards. He lacks pace and the ability to beat his man. It may be unpopular to say but I think we need better than Sergi in the Premier League.

Final Score Southampton 4 Brentford 1 (Janelt)

Pretty much how I saw it. It was also good to have Ajer back but we desperately miss Rico. Canos at LWB leaves us so exposed. Baptiste has some real class carrying the ball and beating men but we need him to do it more often. Teams have figured out that letting us have the ball at the back...

    All but Signed Christian Eriksen

Blows my mind that we are even discussing, let alone dismissing, the possible signing of Christian Eriksen! He has been operating at the top end of the football world for the last decade. He hasn't even turned 30 and has never been reliant on pace and trickery. We are crying out for a creative...

An almost perfect end to a perfect year

Top two posts nailed it. Play-final was more relief than anything. Beating Arsenal at home in the league, in the flesh, under the floodlights post COVID, in our new stadium was pure ecstasy.... something I never realistically thought would happen and will never forget.

    Final Score Brighton 2 - 0 Bees

Fair point and agree about getting Ivan into scoring positions. We have looked predictable going forwards. As good as Canos has been this season, I still think we need another option to play on the right and give us an attacking outlet.

    Final Score Brighton 2 - 0 Bees

Whilst I take your point I also think it is overstating it. To revert to a 4-4-2, perhaps the most bread and butter formation that all footballers will have played since primary school, is not that big an ask for professional footballers. Having said that I'm not convinced the system is the...

Final Score Leeds 2 - 2 Bees (Baptiste, Canos)

Canos has shown some bright touches going forwards, Roerslev looks good. Janelt and Baptiste have been invisible and Fernandez doesn't look convincing. The long throw has become too predictable and we are overusing it. Still have a chance to get back into this game but will need to improve a...

Final Score Bees 1 (Toney p) Everton 0 Att 16,957

Phew, big three points! We needed, and for once got, the rub of the green today but we need to improve dramatically. I'm glad Gray wasn't playing from the start. Fernandez looks fine handling-wise but was very poor with some of his clearances. Thought FTT was a plus in the first half but...

Final Score West Ham 1 Brentford 2 (Mbeumo, Wissa) ATT: 59,889

Bees trending top on Twitter. You cannot beat a last minute winner, especially after conceding a late equaliser beforehand!

    Ivan Toney

Found out this evening he is only 5 foot 10 😮 Always thought he was at least 6 feet tall due to his aerial prowess. He's starting to draw attention with his performances, I'd expect a big money bid in the summer but be gutted if he left.

MotM Man of the match v Liverpool (H) 25 Sept 2021

3 goals conceded and still Raya MOTM for me, didn't put a foot or glove wrong with a ridiculous reflex save in the first half.

Final Score Bees 3 (Pinnock, Janelt, Wissa) Liverpool 3 Att: 16,876

Liverpool are exceptional going forward. We've acquitted ourselves well, Ajer was outstanding but shame he couldn't get a head on the ball for their goal. Ivan as usual winning flicks he has absolutely no right to, against Van Dijk and Matip. Thomas going to need to choose his remaining subs...

    Bryan Mbeumo

Agreed. Think he offers so much more playing in a front two, whereas when he played out wide on the right he would have little room to work with and have to cut back in. Playing close to IT with his pace and movement he looks much more of a threat again.

    Rico Henry

Pinnock seemed reluctant to hit him early when he had the ball in the first half. Anyway, Rico is a class player. I'm glad the too teams all have a good selection of left backs otherwise he would be snapped up ASAP

Final Score Aston Villa 1 Brentford 1 (Toney)

Excellent away performance and a decent point, great day out. We looked solid, although both sides struggled to create many clear cut chances after a frenetic first 15 minutes. The Villa fans were the most friendly bunch I've come across outside the ground and inside although they rarely made...

    David Raya

His best ever game for the Bees IMO. Fantastic reflex save from Pepe. So assured with the ball at his feet that he always gives an option to the defenders. Keep it up David 👏

Final Score Bees 2 (Canos, Norgaard) Arsenal 0

Incredible night! After 20 years of anticlimactic defeats and not turning up on the big occasion it was refreshingly un-Brentford to nail it. Everything went right. Beating Arsenal under the floodlights in our new stadium in the Premier League curtain raiser - a seemingly impossible dream from...

    Vitaly Janelt

I don't think it's an overstatement to say he is one of the best signings in Bees history. He came into the side when Norgaard, arguably our best player, was injured. He settled immediately into the most competitive league in the world in a foreign country and a new team. He tackles like a...
