    County Cricket Season 2006

I was born a stone's throw from Griffin Park, but spent most of my life in Surrey (and I include Brixton in Surrey). I feel it's only fair to spread the love.

It was very satisfying the way he placed his shots. Almost surgical. However he was dropped at mid-off just barely into three figures when he skyed a shot which hung in the air for an age while a lanky streak (Phillips?) fiddled around trying to work out how to catch him and then spilled it. It...

Well, it was pretty chilly until the sun came out, but worth it as Surrey closed on 417-2 with Ramps 174* and Butch 73*. Northant will be ruing a couple of costly drops off successive balls.

Well, it's cloudy but the rain is holding off, so sod work and off to the Oval where Surrey are 230 for 1 with Newman on 130 and Rampo on 75. Today I are be mostly wearing a flat cap and green corduroy jeans jacket and will be sitting in the green seats square to the left of the pavilion for a...

    County Cricket Season 2006

Well, the weather should hold today but tomorrow it’s forecast to be showery. Surrey are in the field and I wouldn’t mind seeing Kumble in action so I’ll pop in for an hour this afternoon and perhaps drop in for a pint at the end of the day. I was at Whitgift school yesterday for the last day of Surrey v Essex, which so far looks to to have been the best choice of match to attend there this weekend. Surrey’s win by six wickets is in stark contrast to their performance against S K Warne this morning, who has taken six for 42 to leave...

I wondered about the declaration but Ramprakash was so close to a career milestone they really had to carry on. Shame about the 300 though. Didn't get there today in spite of working virtually next door. See you there next time!

I popped into the Oval this evening, just too late to see Ramprakash get his 200 and Benning his century. But I was there in time to see Ramprakash reach 250 in stylish fashion by launching one into the second tier of the OCS stand. He finished the day on 276* and Surrey 401 ahead on 608-7.
