But what might our valuation be in a potentially very depressed post Covid market? It's hard to believe that we will achieve anything like the type of sums we would have been expecting a few months ago at a time when even the biggest clubs face an uncertain financial future.
I love the fact that within hours of the Bozenik rumours appearing Brighton supporters on their forums are saying 'Brentford are after him so he must be good - we should look at him too.'
Which is why I wonder whether, given all our other midfield options at present, he might be best used this season from the bench, so that he can come on, as he did tonight, and run the game when the space begins to open up after an hour or so.
Lasse is now out of sight as our leading goalscorer at this level in modern times. Over the four seasons we have played in the 2nd tier since the early '50's, encompassing 1992/3 and the last 3 years, our top league goalscorers are as follows;
1. Lasse Vibe 28
2. Gary Blisset & Scott Hogan 21...
I've been thinking the same. We all know the business model and despite the occasional disappointment when we lose a star turn it's served us extremely well. But.....Jota may well be the differance between a realistic shot at the Play Offs and mid table obscurity next season. Just as in 2014/15...
Isn't the problem that it's an international window though, rather than one designed to fit around our own domestic calendar? I know that there is some local variation around start dates but broadly speaking most of the arrangements seem to be very similar.
I believe that they are hoping to use their share to pay off a mortgage secured on their ground. £3m would be transformatory for a club of Rochdale's size and should secure their medium term future. Their fans are following the story as closely as we are.
We would at the very least have been grateful to see him on the bench in recent matches so while I agree with jlove's assessment of him his return will be another small step towards the depth of squad we thought we were going to enjoy this season.
And if that bloke wants to go, really really wants to go, so much so that there is a real risk if he stays that his game (and therefore his value) will be adversely affected and there will be disharmony amongst the rest of the team, what do you suggest we do then?
And what do you suggest we do...
And one would suspect that right now, somewhere on the continent, so is Andre's replacement. We just don't know who he is yet.
