We've already faced Neil Warnock's side twice in West London this season, winning one and drawing the other, but now we fa

Lancashire official Darren Bond will be in charge our longest trip of the season, tomorrow's visit to Middlesbrough.

It will be the 18th time Bond has refereed us with, remarkably, all but one of those outings coming with us as the away side.

We are unbeaten in the last six of those games, winning all three of our outings in 2020. All of those came in Yorkshire as we beat Hull City 5-1 in February, saw off Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 at Hillsborough in October and then won 1-0 at Barnsley in November.

Before that, Bond had been in charge of three consecutive 1-1 draws, at Ipswich Town in September 2018 and then at West Bromwich Albion in December 2018 and December 2019.

In total, we have won six, drawn five, and lost six of his games in charge.

So far this term, Bond has shown 61 yellow cards and two reds in 18 outings.

That Coulson, playing as a left wing back looked pretty useful against us this season especially in the league game. I would consider playing Roerslev as right MF to ease pressure on Dalsgaard plus he can motor forward and keep that side occupied. A Roerslev, JDS, Janelt MF should be able to compete physically with Warnock's methods as well as hold onto the ball and control the game.

I’d take everything he says with a pinch of salt, all geared towards getting a result on sat. There’s no way he sees this as a free hit. He’ll want to win..

because our defence is shiiiiit! And we're going to sub everyone in the last 5 minutes and let in lots of goals!

I think it's just that hangover of the Karanka boro years where we never got anything out of them, added to the 'Warnock effect'. Think people have also got the willies slightly with a couple of the goals we've conceded recently but they've been fairly freak-ish ones. One a clear and obvious foul on the keeper, the Bristol City one, it was just a really good ball in early on and we got caught a bit cold. 2nd Bristol C one is a very rare mistake from Pinnock when we've pretty much won the game and the Wycombe game was played in what seemed a bit of a hurricane first half. I don't think we've suddenly forgotten how to defend crosses. I think probably what's happened is that our game has opened up slightly as we've become more confident in creating and scoring going forward and as a result perhaps, Dalsgaard and Henry aren't maybe getting as much protection as we were when we'd basically shut off the supply of crosses at source. Need to move that balance back a wee bit for the next two away games without having too much of an effect on our attacking play. Perfectly achievable and I don't think boro are anywhere near as good as the likes of Swansea, Watford, Norwich, Bournemouth..

Today is the start of quite a gruelling and critical period.

Of the next 5 games, 4 are away; and then followed by 3 out of 4 home games.
A lot of effective squad rotation will happen.

A win or even a draw against Boro will get us off on the right foot.

I think by the end of these 9 matches, that if we can emerge in the top 2, then we will have started to create a bigger gap over those below us; and 17 points or more would keep us on track for automatic promotion and in the top 2.

It just goes to show how things have changed in the last month (e.g.for Norwich), as dour but tough Middlesbrough have been struggling at home. Not only that, they bored their way to a draw with us in the league earlier in the season when we weren’t playing great and didn’t bring us much to beat in the f.a.cup, so a win is well within reach. Neil Warnock, a good championship team manager, was pretty wary of us on the recording, and if his players were watching it won’t have filled them with confidence either!

It’s slashing it down and freezing here in Leeds and after years of working in the NE it is almost never more pleasant weather up there than here. But we’ve looked pretty tough in horrible conditions against Swansea and Wycombe so shouldn’t be a big problem.
