I understand that the club will be using this very old design next season.
I love the original badge but absolutely hate the modern shield it's mounted on.
Makes it look like a badge on a badge, a poor effort from a graphic designer(not a good one).

Why not use the old badge and put 125 years on the original ribbon that is
already there ?

Please don't use the outer shield, it looks tack !!

From my understanding, Hobbsy will put me right here, is that the original badge will be the shirt badge, with the addition of 125 years underneath.

What's been produced so far is for the marketing material and bumpf which is to be printed.

Maybe that's the case Paul but still no need for the modern shield IMO.
The old style badge looks fantastic, the ribbon could have 125 years on it and job done !!
This could be used on shirt and bumpf, would be a big hit.
The modern shield thingy messes it up IMO

125 Year Cub Badge

udeju5y3.jpg

It may not come out too well because I'm on my phone - stuck in Teddington for nearly 4 hours waiting for idiots to get themselves sorted to get my vehicle fixed. No food. No drink. P'eed off! :mad2: - anyway, this may look better if it's big enough to view....

I used to have 6 or 7 badges when I was in the cubs, but none were 125 years old

nice one.
All that needs doing now is the date on each end of the ribbon and 125 years in the middle and knock out the red background !!

All we have been told is a variation of that badge (or possibly a later one??) will be on the shirt, but yes the "Arsenal" one is promotional/marketing.

The lettering is so bland. If I'm not mistaken it's set in DIN, which is designed for road signage in Germany. Great for legibility at high-speeds on ze autobahn but doesn't exactly say 125 years of football and community history. (And don't get me started in the spacing in 1...25 on the bigger badge! :mad1:)

The kerning on the 125 does need looking at. I'd take the original badge and redesign the bottom ribbon to a) be more integral and b) be able to include the 125 years tag line. No need for the Arsenal shield.

Then what do I know as I only designed the current Bees badge*.

* Sorry; couldn't help but mention my claim to fame and please don't start that the castle one is better. Also I'm not Russell Grant!

I'm just thankful we have at last got something to ****ing moan about. It's been a while and, what with the real prospect of Championship football and a brand new stadium on the horizon, I'm rather glad to have a very temporary emblem to get all moody about.:sorted:

Can we merge this with the name change thread.......;)

Looks like an Arsenal badge , and no strips in the design at all.

I would love to celebrate 125 years of the club next season :bound:, but please could we have a badge that reflects the proud heritage of the club and is also merchandisable.

I find the lack of choice of leisure wear in the club shop disheartening…

has anyone asked Devlin if the club would be up for changing the design of the badge at all?

Love the badge and everything it represents. Not greatly fond of the surrounding but it won't keep my awake at night.

yes it's the original badge, but it looks like Arsenal's badge.. see #15 he is the expert..

The Arsenal part (shield) wont be on the shirts just the Original badge that is within it as i understand.

Taken off the red background! That was easy. lol

As for the other bit, I don't have the facilities, like photoshop, so will have to leave that. Have to be careful though re copyright/trademarks etc too. :suspect:

Not enough red

I do like the old badge, the club's first crest recently discovered, being used for the Centenary, as it's the perfect time for it to be 're-born'. I do like the current badge too - as it's based on the 1940's/50's badge - as it includes the; red n white stripes, the Bees & Hive and the year of foundation. And I do like the Castle, but that's more sentimental than actual 'love' for it.

It's probably hard to create something that we all like.

Does anyone know what the turrets and domed building represent? Perhaps a no longer standing building in Brentford or perhaps someone wanting to display a bit of grandeur for Brentford .

The domed centre structure is the gas holder at Kew and the turrets are two Philips screws which hold up the M4.

I do feel the current badge is looking a little dated now, but cant say im too enamored by this design. Actually the outer shield I dont mind. The detailing in the middle is too much grey and the 'Brentford Football Club' bit looks very messy but who the f*** put QP* blue in there?

For those that are interested the club have redrawn the current badge recently. If you want to spot the original one I created back in the 90s then look at the Bees. On the original the 2 bees are slightly different (stripes and wing detail). Also the original had a grey line/shadow under the black band with the word Brentford; the crown has diamonds on it not lines; the hive lines aren't straight and the 1889 numbers fit within the red and white stripes rather than across them.

I hope this gives some distraction for 5 minutes from the anxiety of our promotion push.

When I first looked at it, I thought it was FCB, reading from left to right.
I was a bit confused for a moment,
then I remembered "Barcelona of the lower leugues". ;-)

Should we get promoted the castle is representative of the siege mentality we will need next season! Oh me of little faith........

Please kill the blue unless we want to imply a desire to recall 1967. Other elements are fine, but the blue is too QPR/Everton/Glasgow Rangers. In particular, it looks like there's a bit of Everton in there - check out the castle on their badge.
