When’s this 3rd shirt being announced then, I’m buying only 1 shirt this season and I want to see if it’s a nice one 😁

My guess is sometime before Christmas and then not get any stock in time and everyone misses out on their Christmas presents.

Yes, all Premier League teams have to have 3 shirts so we had to get it designed and produced by Umbro just in case.

Not sure about this.... surely the design of the third shirt reflects the colours of the other teams in the league you are/will be in (i.e. the Championship), not the league you might be in...

Shirt designs have to be in/ordered and already on the production line way before any promotion relegation issues are decided

I'm sure that's correct for home and away. I suspect third can go in a bit later once the club knows if there will be a requirement (and hence the later release date).

Yes, I believe we've only got a 3rd kit as PL regulations require it. Therefore we had to order it before the end of last season!

I think there’s a few kits that have never seen the light of day over the years.
The difference between Adidas/puma/whoever producing say 40 shirts for 1 team “just in case” compared to rolling off a few thousand of differing size shirts for the retail market.

Nope. You have to have everything in place before the end of the season. To show the EPL that you’re ready if the Club is successful in gaining promotion. All Championship Clubs do this. (Well, the top 12 at least due to play off possibilities). The same reason why GP was looked at for hosting EPL matches in 2014/15. Plans are made well in advance.

The same applies for kits, 1, 2 & 3. All planned way before the season ends.

White. With Claret, Blue and Salmon edging. A nod to the Brentford Rowing Club colours (Brentford never used the colour “salmon” on a kit). Claret and Blue, most definitely!!

32 and a half minutes in will get you about 1 seconds worth of preview.

Cannot see much of it, but if it turns out how I am imagining it in my head then I will definitely be putting this on the Christmas list.

Is this a windup? Why the delay in announcing this officially. If genuine excited to see the whole shirt and respect the historical influence. Not looking forward to painting the multiple thin edging stripes for a Subbuteo team though. Will have to commission an artist. So far looks much, much better than the very drab and disadvantageous charcoal grey strip.

Always wondered why we've never (?) had a shirt featuring the rowing club colours. Seems like a bit of a no brainer especially these days when salmon wouldn't be seen as particularly extreme in a world of pinks, violets and fluorescent greens.

Doea anyone have any experience with attaching the EFL badge to the sleeve of the shirt.
One wash and the one on my shirt is barely attached. I've tried a hot iron but doesn't seem to work in 10-20 secs and am relectant to leave it too long in case I damage the shirt.

I had issues with a shirt from abroad, not Brentford obviously, so I just sewed around it close to the edge. Can't notice it from a far and shouldn't come off.

Its all to do with branding, marketing and sales. Why sell a training top that looks like the actual kit, when people may buy more than one item.

In terms of the small gains, I understand your point, but I suspect the very marginal gain you would get on the pitch would be offset off it by selling less products. Anyway, the wearing of kit in training probably doesn't have much of an impact on where Raya positions himself for free kicks! :owusu:

The whole point of the question was about the benefits of the branding and revenue generation vs gains on the pitch.
The main argument I can think of against "gains on the pitch" would be the need for the opposition colours as well.

Re your Raya comment ... I agree with BuzzWord .."Ouch" :)

Too old to buy replica shirts for myself, but my son likes it, so I'll probably get one for him.

Video on the club's YouTube is excellent. Great shirt, shame I'm too fat to wear white

Very nice. A home kit with this round neck and black/white/black trim with the red and white stripes would be great for next season please.

Bizarre. Also bizarre that the website refers to our "claret salmon and blue" kit that will be 90% white!

The old school colours are very tamely illustrated on this 3rd shirt; basically, three narrow bands on the short sleeves - as a symbolic statement ( rarely to be seen on pitch), I think they could have been bolder in the design, maybe a bold sash, with the three colours.

A nice kit but why do the club bring out commemorative shirts that aren’t commemorative ? Like last season blue/yellow without the yellow

"Available exclusively IN STORE".

As someone who lives 2 hours away I do hope they will take phone orders.

yeah that’s a bit dumb and short sighted if it’s only available in store - or is that just the 3 day pre sale?

I assume it’s just the presale. Releasing a product in store only during a pandemic when many people can’t travel would be quite unwise.
