A fellow American Bee and I have decided to start an American Bees podcast. Nothing to do with the quality of Beesotted and their podcast(I'm a big fan and always listen to when it comes out with new episodes) but I thought it would be interesting to get an American perspective on the Bees with analysis, predictions, etc. Will probably throw in some MLS and national team talk, and even off topic things as well (Movies, games, etc) also.

We hope to have the first episode out by Sunday where we can talk about the Port Vale game and other goings on.

Any American members on here feel free to PM me if want to be on it, and of course any UK members on here feel free to do the same.

Thanks all!

As long as it is better than Soccer neophytes, their analysis on Brentford just after we got promoted was embarrassing.

May I suggest some topics of conversation:

- The troubled history of the Brentford Babettes
- Craig Pead - why isn’t he in the BFC Hall of Fame?
- Jamie Bates’s wife. Discuss

What are the interest levels like over there for us? I assume they must be decent to be starting the podcast?

We are still way behind other prem teams(Man U,City, etc) as far as fans go and will never catch up imo unfortunately; that's just the way it is. However, this friend and I are big fans obviously and we and 6 others are on a group text where we talk about the Bees. Their is also the Brentford FC USA Supporters twitter and facebook where there are a few hundred more followers of the Bees.

Me and him don't expect a huge audience overall at first, but hopefully we can make it good enough lol to gain listeners and hopefully get some more American support behind the Bees:)

As I have said in other threads, I am planning on coming to London in April if all goes well covid and travel wise, and this morning he said he is on board also. Hopefully, we can encourage some more to come with us and bring a decent size group over.👍

Sounds great.

I'm sure you have better ideas than me - I've made zero football podcasts but have listened to hundreds - things you might look to cover
  • Please tell people where you live and why you support us... and who your local team(s) are.
  • Is the TV coverage fair so far? What do the US pundits think of us and do you agree? Is the whole experience better or worse than you expected or hoped for?
  • Any US-centric comparisons with us as a team or individual players
  • Fantasy football - if you care about that - there are over 285,000 people playing FPL registered in the US and a lot of them will have heard of Toney and Mbeumo etc just for this, some may go looking for team specific podcasts for tips and some may even want to follow us for the first time because of playing the game. If you don't care at all, a guest could cover it briefly once in a while.
  • Don't forget to mention the GPG and this sub-forum.

@Comic Book Guy .. are you able to see match highlights on the Brentford You Tube channel or is it blocked in America .. what about on Instagram & Twitter?
My family in North Texas are starting a “small fan club” in that area!
Yes I can see all of that no problem. And that's awesome! Great to hear about other Bees fans.

Can you provide the name of the podcast please? And will it be available on e.g. Overcast?
Will be called, 'Across the Seas But Forever Bees-An American Brentford Podcast. As I said will upload tomorrow night and it will be via Buzzsprout; according to their website it should be available to download from Overcast after that(y)

Thanks - maybe get one of the mods @nocoat @Edmundo to edit this thread’s title to include the podcast name in it now?

Good luck with the podcast 🇺🇸

You're welcome and that is a good idea. So yes @nocoat or @Edmundo if you could change thread title would be much appreciated.

And thanks pal, bit nervous but going to make it as good a first episode as possible. A bit trial and error I'm sure then go from there.

OMG: I do know that the 4-3 match in 1991 was Leyton Orient and not Luton. I was there. D'oh.

Enjoyed it, quite a novelty listening to American accents discussing the BEES, especially loved Tim's correct pronunciation of some English place names and words.

I lived in the UK long enough that incorrect American attempts bug me as much as you!
I guess it doesn't actually bug me as such, it would be similar to my efforts in trying to pronounce German city names. You've been immersed in our English language as well as our "soccer" :giggle: Love your love of the BEES

Well done on getting this off the ground Ryan. Great start - really good first guest (Tim).

It's great that there are Bees fans the other side of the Atlantic!! and really good listening to Tim who fell in love with Brentford just like the rest of us did.
