Very disappointing overall - yet another side comes to Griffin Park and looks like they want to play football. Why can't we do that?

Slow start punished by a very good Shots goal. Charlie then lobs the keeper with a back header - great finish and sparked a lot of Brentford pressure. Simpson hit the post with a cracking shot and we had another couple of chances to score.

Second half we start well, push them back and create plenty of chances. We also got into good positions and then just wasted it a few times (especially down the left - Weston and, unusually, Woodman not at the races when it came to the final ball).

Around 65 minutes, we were crying out for a change. Our momentum had gone without scoring, and it needed something to get us going again. Perhaps Hudson giving us pace against his former club? Saunders to provide a through ball or cross? Or how about Kevin O'Connor to play defensive midfield instead of Dave. On 77 minutes. Hudson eventually came on in the 85th but by that time it was way too late - the last 20 we looked clueless and Aldershot could and probably should have won it.

Positives: Karleigh captain - lovely to see. Superb raking passes from him and Pim too, made a change from Legge's hoofing (though I do love Leon). Created plenty of chances. Wright shows great experience. Great finish from Charlie.

Negatives: We've played plenty of games at Griffin Park this season (including two against league 2 opposition) and maybe I'm exaggerating a little but I think every visiting team has at least tried to play football while we hoof it. It is just so depressing to watch. Aldershot's final ball was poor today but they played some really nice football - like Bournemouth on Tuesday. It's probably for the other thread but the simple fact is that if Scott isn't getting results with his style of play, it's no fun watching Brentford.

Didn't go today thankfuk, just spoken to someon who did and described it as diobolical, shocking and again out played by a very ordinary league 2 club whose paying budget is probably a fraction of ours.
How much longer are the club prepared to put up with this ?

trying to be positive, i'd say it was a big improvement on tuesday and with a little bit of luck we could have won it. simpson played really well, him and nicky were unlucky not to score.
trying to be constructive, i'd say passing to a player in red + white stripes would be an improvement on booting it it up in the air so it becomes a 50/50 scramble.
trying to find a champagne moment i'd say when their no.2 attempted a flying scissor kick and fell on his fat @rse.

Aldershot's goal was excellent. Their quick little players up front caused problems. They played more aimless hoofs to the heavens than we did. I thought Forster played very well. Simpson too. Woodman was good, as usual.

I will piss off now and let everyone else tear their hair out.

I know what I see, and frankly i could not be arsed to watch another pile of cack from Andy Scotts Brentford. It's getting that you know whats coming.

Bobbybee-I like your positive tone. Trouble is I can't see when we're really going to kick in. We are condemned to mid table anonymity unless something changes. The attendances are very worrying. Even the diehards are falling now. I'm even thinking of giving it a miss myself.Never thought I'd say that.

Felt like we should have won the game but at the same time we could have got beat, particularly in the second half with 15 minutes to go when the Shots seemed to get up a head of steam.

Can't say I enjoyed the game again, we just seem to be a really scrappy football team. Fair enough were not losing many games right now but I just seem to walk away far too often feeling like it was painful to watch and not enjoyable.

On a positive note I thought Simpson was better today, albeit run out of steam with 20 minutes left but understandable coming back from injury. I thought Dave was a passenger most of the game and didn't particularly stake a claim to get a starting place back.

Not much more to say really, just a sense of feeling underwhelmed by it all really.

The thing I find frustrating about Scott is his apparent inability to attempt to change things round during a game. Some starnge substitutions are made. I thought bringing on Saunders in place of Dave would have given a chance for a bit of creative play which we can't find anywhere at the moment. First time I've seen Bullivant showing frustration on the bench.

I thought Dave was a passenger most of the game and didn't particularly stake a claim to get a starting place back.

Dave and Bean seemed to struggle today. Their No. 4 ran rings round them.

Lee did well - had no chance with the goal.
Wright was solid, but his lack of pace was exposed in the second half.
Osborne did little wrong, same goes for Pim.
Weston was good, but not brilliant.
Charlie did what Charlie does and never stopped running. Good header for the goal.

I think I've covered them all. I really am pissing off now.

Much improved performance with Simpson adding a much needed new dimenssion on the right. We missed Alexander again as we had enough chances to easily win the game.
Less longball and more long passes to both wings which was impressive at times but we let ourselves down in their box.

Aldershot looked competent but no more. I would fancy us in the reply as they will probably forego their contain and counterattack attack and give us more space.

Another afternoon of zero entertainment at Griffin Park. Have we been entertained at home at all this season? Maybe the 6 out of 10 performances against Sheff Weds and Charlton.

Aldershot were by far the better FOOTBALL team. We were average at huff and puff, with hoffball mixed in.

Well, at least it was better then Tuesday night.
At half-time I wasn't worried - thought we'd have enough in the second half to see them off. Aldershot looked a division below us. But, they grew and we faded in the second 45. Ended up praying for a pass FORWARD that'd arrive at the feet off a Bees player. Had enough of hoofing the ball forward and hoping for the best.
Simpson much better than Tuesday, couldn't see the point of taking him off.
Why didn't we take the chance to rest Charlie and Westie?
Could do without the replay - almost willing Aldershot to score at the end.
Yawn.

frustrating......done enough to win it and still could have lost it........watching brentford can be so painful sometimes........at times we look good and then 5 mins later we are shocking

thought woodman, wright, osbourne. simpson and charlie done alright

those that didnt do alright........bean (again), dave had a 2nd half shocker and forster is just not good enough anymore

their keeper made 3 outstanding saves and the woodwork did its bit too.....

I actually enjoyed the game today as a spectacle. Pims distribution and passing was sublime and what he lacks defensively is countered by what he add to the team as far as attacking options go. Legge is the better defender but he does frustrate me with his inability to treasure the ball and use it. Aldershot raised their game and the winger McGlashen was outstanding. Wright was frustrated the more the game went on and he was lucky not to get booked with his donkey kick when he was beaten once again. We played well up the final 3rd but couldnt finish.

Boring, scrappy game but we could have scraped it with a bit more composure in front of goal. Both Weston & Woodman took a touch too many before shooting in the 2nd half.
About £12.50's worth of entertainment I suppose.

I thought we were pretty ok, we should have scored a couple in the second half, but when we didn't it went pretty stale and Aldershot finished the game stronger. If we had put away some of the chances we created it would have left everyone in a much better mood.

You might be dissapointed because we might have quite a few more games under Scott.

A frustrating result for sure..

We could have scored 10 goals , Simpson hit the post with a turning shot a la Sheff Wed , there were a chances created in the 2nd half that just needed someone to get a toe onto it and we'd have won, at the death Woodman (?) had a great chance to finish the game but his shot was an inch the wrong side of goal.

Did Simpson's shot in the 1st half cross the line ??? from my place in the New road it did !! :mad1: (someone with a better view confirm? )

We tried "tippy tappy", "long balls", "long diagonal balls" etc etc and it just wasn't mean to be. There were some good passages of play where our class showed, but unfortunately no end product.

A few players kept slipping over again, especially Myles need to have a look at his studs!

Aldershot's McGlashan looked a handful , forcing Wright and Weston to make desperate tackles on him.

Charlie again worked his socks off and deserved his goal a looping header over the keeper.

Still in the cup that'll have to do for now, in the context of things Brighton drew at home with Woking , Rochdale lost at home to FCUM so i'm not going to lose any sleep tongiht.

I thought we played it on the ground to good effect in the first half and created a few chances. I am not trying to pick holes but it seems this may have been discouraged at half time and we came out with a different style of football. I have been up and down with Scott but Kev for Toumani on 75 minutes felt like a punch in the stomach.

I have been a loyal fan for over 20 years and I feel little enthusiam about watching us at the moment, even when we win it is usualy through a pretty painful game plan. Today appeared to be a good opportunity to give Saunders, Hunt, Hudson a run but not to be. I am not a huge Saunders fan but with Weston struggling again I would have given Saunders or Wood a run.

Trying to take the positives.... Lee gets better and better, he didnt have a great deal to do today but looks very assured now. Great to see KO as captain. Pim looked solid and played some fantastic passes. Simpson gaining fitness and looking the threat he was before the injury. Forster forced us to play differently but maybe should have done better with a couple of chances. Both goals were good to watch.

Usual rigid robot easy to sus out football from Brentford again . . . . . . No imagination or ideas? Never any freedom to the play? (This is your 30yrd area of the pitch . . . you stay in it).

Last season we were playing some decent passing at times, pass and move, pass and move and kept the ball well and made chances, but now we just huff and puff and stick to the same old pattern play.

Fullbacks never collect the ball from the keeper? We never do things early? We always hold onto the ball till everyone is back in position before we lump it up for a flick on somewhere.

Throw-ins - Usual zig zag movement from 2 players one infront of the other.

Corners - Always hit Into same area but very rarely trouble. Never go short or try a near post flick which I remember worked reasonably well under Martin Allen?

Nothing ever keeps the opposition guessing? keeping them on their toes.

Giving away posession from kick-off by lumping the ball down the wing which always ends up out of play. Why dont we keep it and pass it about? Give a few players a touch?

I cant go on, time is precious and i gotta go out.

We are incredibly frustrating to watch.Why are the strikers not on their toes when the ball is bouncing around the 6 yard line to finish it off or reading Simpsons headers?

Good goal after a great bit of work from Dave but nothing much else from him and Bean who cannot trap or pass a ball to save his life and managed to mishit the only chance he got after 30 minutes from 5 yards out, we badly need some creativity in the team.

Wright was steady but prefer Spillane, Forster has lost it i'm afraid, weve signed him a couple of years too late.

Then what does our tactical genius of a manager do to try and win the game he brings on O'Connor and then takes off our only player who was causing them problems (Simpson) and brings on Hudson who looks like a little boy lost. I give up I really do!! I can't take anymore of watching this style of football anymore. There is little entertainment and nothing enjoyable about watching this team. I really want Scott out of this club and quick because while he is in charge I will not be watching anymore. Enough is enough and with the budget he has we should be doing better than we are. However, I have said it before and I will say it again the make of if this squad is wrong and there is only one person who's fault that is. Please Benham act now before it is too late!!!!!!!

Bringing on KOC was a good move actually , Dave & Bean were giving away the ball and in Dave's case he was a silly tackle away from giving a penalty he seemed to be losing his head a bit!! so it made sense to bring KOC on to settle the midfield ...

Agree with you Larry - ball didn't cross the line & Charlie's goal looked well offside.

Sorry, I didn't see any real improvement - our sole tactic seemed to be a long diagonal ball to Simpson's head. Sad to see a 4th division team playing a better style of football than us.

Our only constructive footballer seems to be Woodman - not his best game today - but at least he tries to very his distribution.

Other than that, not much else to say. Same old, same old....

It was a very ordinary game that we still should have won by 3 or 4 if we'd taken our chances. Simpson looked back on song and gives us a threat and height down the right.

Thought Dave missed the opportunity to impress and was anonymous all game and goal aside both Charlie and Nicky F looked like they were running through treacle and never got way from their man.

Shame AS didn't change it around earlier and would have put Sam Wood on the left and given Myles a breather and given Hudson a longer run.

Pim did well on his return alongside Karleigh and used the ball a lot better than Leon and while we didn't play well, we didn't play hoofball, there was some good passing football played, our finishing was poor.

Nicky & Charlie spent most of the time chasing aimless balls into the channels or battling their 2 centre backs for the ball in the air. Hopeless performance and devoid of any real ideas or attacking threat. I really do give up if people think todays performace was anywhere near acceptable.

Scott can do no right, can he? Spillane picked up a knock vs Exeter and I suspect he isn't yet fit enough to play ninety minutes of football. Maybe he won't start at Swindon on Tuesday either but I fully expect him to be back in the starting eleven for the visit of Franchise FC next week.

To come on if Wright got injured or sent off? Maybe he can manage 25 miuntes or so but not the whole match? Would you rather him play and aggravate the injury? There is a difference between warming up at half-time and playing 90 minutes of professional football.

Thought it was right to bring on KOC as Dave had lost his way completely. Where is the Dave from last season? Thought Simpson played well & looked our most dangerous player.

Having said that, the worst thing for me was that I just didn't enjoy today at all. I stayed to the end but I couldn't get out fast enough. Insipid, lacklustre, uninspired, turgid, boring, predictable. Take your pick. All these words sum up today for me
