Who was the last tricky winger we had, who could beat people and cross a ball? Smille?

Don't think he's played much for them (don't know whether because of injury or form) and BBC site shows that he has only scored 3 goals, so we haven't missed out on a major contributor. We made him an offer and he didn't want it, and I've heard nothing from Bradford reports to suggest that we should have raised our offer

I visited the Bradford City Messageboard and they dont rate him too highly to be honest. By the sounds of it he hasnt improved much since he was last with us.

He was never the same since that injury so it was right to let him go. Biggest asset was pace and seemed to have lost a lot of it

I still want to kill that wierd haired b*stard!!!!!!

Who was he playing for again when that happened?

Was it Warsaw?

Some post messing here

He is now at Sunderland, but was with Walsall when he took Rhodes out into the hoardings in front of the Paddock!

 I hadn't realised the clumsy, useless lump playing for Sunderland was the same c*nt.

So a talented prospect gets sentenced to a career milling about the lower leagues at best and the ***** who cost him his career gets to make a tit of himself in the premiership.

That's not right :(

What happened?

I thought the abuse Thorpe got was unfair (ok I criticised his abilty on here whilst he was a player with us) but have nothing against him other then that. Same with Mackie.

We do have some complete and utter muppett fans amongst us who really do us no favours at times.

How long you been coming to suddenly twig that we have a minority of fans that are a complete embarrassment.....Alex was never a legend, McShane put paid to any chances of that but he's a part of Bees history for the goal that allowed us to relax and enjoy the completion of The Great Escape.

Why he was booed, who knows, the only person I've booed deserved it .......the snide in the hoops.

He was very unlucky with injuries and in no way should he have been booed today.

How bad was it?

I thought he got decent applause from the Braemar when subbed and he acknowledged it.

On his performance he seemed no different from when he was with us, in fact you hardly noticed he was on the pitch to be honest. I thought it was a touch sad that he hasn't really kicked on.

I am sick to death of the mindless idiots in Ealing Road who obviously think its big and clever to boo ex -players.

Alex Rhodes was a nice bloke, always chatted if seen around the ground, was a great prospect until that terrible injury and just for us never rediscovered his form after that. Why boo him?

When he was being subbed....the boos rang out from the same spot in Ealing Road that all the abuse comes from....along with earlier in the game chants of Brentford reject, however with applause here and there from around the ground and why shouldn't he get it.

Would have been laughable if he had scored against us like Thorpe....to ram the chants of Brentford reject down their idiotic pathetic throats...rant over

Whilst I realise that you have been wound-up Mads I find the above comment bizarre.

I support Brentford, not ex-players.

Yes, so do I support Brentford as do Holysmit and sonofabee who also have questioned why ex-players are booed. There is no need to boo any ex-Brentford players, whats the reason behind it? The mentality is you join Brentford and stay with them life? To boo them is just bizarre and totally unneccessary.

It would be like leaving your job and if you ever went back there (as I do with my past companies) to meet up with ex work mates, everyone there booing you

Felt a bit sad watching him yesterday - thinking back to that goal against Bournemouth and that incredible performance at Hillsborough where he tore a strong Sheffield Wednesday team apart almost single-handed and terrified them with his electric pace.

Yesterday he seemed a shell of a player doing his best to hang on but the magic has gone - probably for ever.

A real shame, thanks Alex and good luck in the future.

I was born yesterday as it happens

I've thought for some time that we have quite a few idoits supporting us, but its unacceptable to question any one who stands in the Ealing road as they are the ones who create the atmosphere and are the true Brentford supporters aren't they?

Can I just clear up from here that I in no way think that all of the Ealing road are a bunch of idoits. Just a SMALL minority who ruin it for everyone in my opinion. I've stood in Ealing road several times this season and they are an embrassement. Mindless chants which aren't clever or funny. I'm all for banter but the crap they come out with is moronic. From what i've seen they were just a bunch of teenage chavs with half a brain cell between them so thats probably why.

Songs like Barcelona of the lower league, your so welsh you sing in English for example are absolutle first class. They are clever and tongue in cheek which I love. As is its all your fault although it needs to be reserved for times when it truly is the keepers fault!

If you want to see my views on SOME of the fans and the disgraceful treatment of Butcher and Mackie yes they were sh*t but they tried hard. I suggest you look back to some of my post from the dark days of 2007.

what do you mean 'i think that would', surely it does? ;)

if you have a problem with it get some therapy!

as for Rhodes, he kept us up, enough said. Injury done his career in, had great pace and could finish, but that Walsall/Man U **** messed him up.

The Ealing Road dumb wits need sorting out.

Such a talent before that reckless challange on him! looked very promising! And now just a shame to see him being just another average player, when he could of been much more!

Holysmit, wasn't having a pop at you, just want this top clubs fanbase to comprise passionate, funny, football lovers who enjoy coming to Brentford and add to the atmosphere.

As an oldie who loved to join in almost every song on the Oak, and would invariably wake up on Sunday hoarse fater having sound for the duration of the game, I find it sad that yesterday the ER's best attempt was two shortish bursts of "Your support is f*****g s**t" which it wasn't, and booing Alex Rhodes.

The Barcelona song isn't original, maybe mildly funny the first time but not appropriate when we're getting beat at home by Macclesfield (Don't tell me it was tongue in cheek, they ain't that bright)

The Paddock might be past it, fat forty types with big ego's who embellish their memories, the New Road is full of us youngsters who reminisce about Frank Blunstone era and the oldies about Joe Crozier but between us can't we get the singing and atmosphere back? It was only 3 years ago we had the whole ground raising the roof against Sheff Weds when we were losing and staying down but it felt like we'd won the Premiership. That's why I'm proud to be a Bee.........yesterday I think my 13 year old daughter thought I was making it up when I told her what it used to be like not so long ago......

Having been to Bradford on most recent visits, I can safely say that their support was better than we usually take to their gaff. A small point but fairly relevant and I had hoped to enjoy standing at GP again but there are so many feckwits in there that I think I have given in.

I too thought the booing of Alex Rhodes was shameful .. like someone else said .. he wasnt a Bees legend, but a decent young bloke who always took time to chat to young fans ... Alex will always be remembered for his Bournemouth goal which sparked some the of best celebrations at GP in recent years and thats how I wish to remember him :sorted:
