yes i know theres still a month to go but it does sound so good putting that one up instead of bees v barnsley or blackburn etc !!

assuming Toney is still going to be with us i'm going for an impressive 1-1(toney) draw and first points on the board in front of a rabid 17,500 crowd......how good does that sound :) lol

After reading those first two posts, just imagining what the noise and atmosphere will be makes the hairs stand up on your neck.

I’ll go 2-1 with one of the new signings achieving legendary status with a 91st minute winner 🥰

Clean sheet and a home win, that'll do for our return to the top flight :owusu:

3 - 3

I don't think we're going to sit back or really settle.....I can see it being an end to end and open game!

3 - 1 down with 5 to go, step up Toney from the spot and a last minute header from Ajer.

Excellent thread , the England hangover went as soon as I saw it.

2-2, Toney an Canos for us.... and Saka, Aubamayang for them.

A fantastic point, which will feel the equivalent of getting Tommy Smiths late equaliser v Charlton a few years back, except it’s fkin Arsenal and we’re in the new stadium, in the premier league! When is this gonna feel real?

I'll settle for the same first five game start (result wise) that we made in our first championship season. So for this one a 1-1 draw.

That was Charlton at home. Remember it well. My son George's first ever game.

3-2 Bees. Ivan (2) and Sergi winner on 96 mins. Wrighty, Lineker and Shearer heralding our arrival on MoTD as the main game (even though we kicked off a day earlier).

I'd be happy with a draw just to get us going and start to build some confidence for the season. Therefore 1-1.

So if we were to land both our strongly rumoured targets, and based on who is training right now, how far do you reckon would this team be from the one that starts vs Arsenal?

Raya
Pontus Ajer Pinnock
Roerslev Norgaard Onyeka Janelt
Mbeumo Ghoddos
Toney

Think we have to wait till we have a couple of friendlies under our belt but on first look Rico must start.

I'd imagine there'll be a few more through the door before then but no way Janelt starts as left wing back whatever happens!

I'm guessing that Rico hasn't recovered fully...unless I'm mistaken he hasn't trained with the first team

Too early for this, I'd expect Canos and Henry to find their way into that team an i'd still hope we have a signing coming in that could offer more than Ghoddos, and potentially Roerslev...

If the two new signings are made but no Norgaard or Jensen due to euros exertions, and no Rico (?) then

Raya
Pontus Ajer Pinnock
Roerslev ............................. Canos
????? Janelt Onyeka
Toney Mbeumo

That's the same as the PO final but 2 new signings and a ? and in for 2 departees and a tired Dane.

Ghoddos the front runner for the ? spot if all caveats needed.

Rico for Canos if fit
Norgaard and Jensen (or Canos if not LWB) all in the running for ? spot if available. Probably Norgaard first choice of all of them, safety first in game 1?

Mbeumo didn't play in the front two very often at all with this system last season but it seemed to work well in the play offs so I'd expect that to be part of Plan A this season.

I voted a loss. But I've changed my mind. 1-1.

I think we may have the edge when it comes to conditioning 🤔

2-1 loss - think they will be better this season than last and they finished very strongly so this will be a very difficult game but should five us an idea of where we are at

They have the capacity, as do most PL teams, of ruthlessly punishing any errors. If we are solid and don't take risks we could grow into this game and, if there is no score on the hour, we could get stronger and take it late on. Really want to enjoy this game but suspect I will be too nervous, much like the PO final. This game will not define our season but the first half dozen will.

I predict a great day out at our fabulous new home seeing all my mates again that I have not seen for over 18 months, and watching my beloved Brentford play as a Premier league club. What more does a man need.

ps at least a point would round things off nicely

The benefit of surprise against lack of experience at this level. 2-0 to Arsenal.

We're never the sharpest starters and I fear with Norgaard, Pontus and Jensen starting pre-season later and any new signings only having a couple of weeks to settle this may be a bit of a difficult one. 2-1 Arsenal. First 3 points at Palace the following week
