In the latest instalment of ‘one rule for us etc.’ Novak Djokovic gets an ‘exemption’ from needing to have a vaccine passport to compete at the Aussie Open. I hope players refuse to play him but I am not naive enough to think it might happen.

I just listened to it on Five live and ALLEGEDLY it was done by an independent panel and anonymous. Believe that and you will believe Edmundo emigrated voluntarily.

Agree. I can’t believe 4th test of the ashes is going ahead with the number of covid cases - but the loss revenue of calling it off is huge for both England and Australia.

I think it was Andrew Castle said that it's a kick in the teeth for all those Australians who've not been able to see family etc. Can't disagree, another case of one rule for us and one rule for everybody else.

There are very few restrictions now - thanks to the effectiveness of the vaccines. I’m looking forward to attending the tennis this year. I always go on the first Tuesday (best chance of seeing the Brits before they get knocked out). If I see Novak I will give him a warm Hate Corner welcome.

My understanding (and this may well be wrong) is that Australian immigration don't like keeping people 'in process' very long. This will all get resolved very quickly, one way or another.

Even more so as I read that three players have been given the same visa as Novax with the same exemption and have been allowed in.
It mentions that on the video I uploaded above, except that the details are non-specific and those others (I don't believe that 3 is certain) may have genuine reasons as set-out in the video.

We were told that no more than "a handful" of exemptions were granted. How many is a handful? Five? It does appear that Novax Djokovic has been singled out, and I'm sure this arbitrariness will be referred to by his lawyers to the judge. Whether it's enough to allow his appeal is more doubtful.
