I'd imagine it won't be far off.. All the players must know by now.
you can read into who wasn't involved in either match yesterday they will be off (Haygarth, Hercules , maybe Huckhull) plus some of the others. It could be quite a turnaround there this summer. But will be interesting the pedigree of player given the Jersey Road developments for academy and B squad

Blimey! A lot of work for Phil Giles then... I doubt we'll let that many go, particularly as Maghoma, Stevens, Cox and NYC are likely to be spending more time with the first team squad next season. Mogensen and Pressley both returning from injuries too..

Brook has another year on his contract I think (at least). Not sure what Trevitt's contract is but he's still young so I think we might keep him on.

Yeah a few I have down as “released” might get single year extensions to make up the numbers but I doubt they have any prospect of making it with us.

We also might scale back the B team next season given the long-term academy ambitions. Possible that we just retain the “core” of quality young players (plus add a few if we can) and then they either train up as part of an expanded first team setup or go out on loan.

Wow, that’s a serious cull. I’d have thought Mpongo, Crama and Trevitt would still be retained at least.

Also, Brook has another year left but he’s gone back home to Australia on loan, so could see some agreement being made this summer to make the move permanent, or another loan deal happening.

Could be wrong but think if the club saw a pathway for him over here he might have stayed or gone on loan to VNL/L2.

Doubt Mpongo would stay, he’s barely played. Crama and Trevitt I agree on though.
Crama is 21 this year. Has never made a first team match-day squad.

He stands out in certain B-team games because he is physically ready for mens football but I’m not sure he is anything like near PL level.

I'd keep Crama, he's good on the deck and has really progressed this season. You can't expect every player to make an impact on the first team squad but he fits our system very well.

In that case we should be looking at 12 in, at least considering those likely to be with the first team, or on loan. Almost a new squad from ground zero then!

I think this is very unlikely!! Could be wrong and we may want to reset with much younger players but I think given the issues we've had with recruitment for the B team since Brexit I'd be surprised if we left ourselves so much work to do to get a squad together.

I imagine there'll be some 1 July announcements and then a proportion of the signings made later in the summer and through the early months of the season, released scholars who are yet to be picked up. I imagine these first team friendlies might become a regular fixture as well, which provide a better experience for the best B team players I imagine.

Do not disagree! Just setting out the implications of the forecast. As you say though it could be an opportunity to reset.

I wouldn't be surprised if a 'tweak' to the B team set-up beyond player contracts and recruitment.

But what, if anything, no idea! Just that we aren't a club to stand still and will be examining the modus operandi.

Dominic Jeffries won the Mary Halder award, chosen by the B team staff and Neil MacFarlane.. Fin Stevens won it last year.. Would assume it means he's safe for next season although he didn't look THAT happy about it!

I don’t think it necessarily means that.

If they released everyone out of contract, all the team would be left with is:

GK - Winterbottom
DF - Adedokun, Jones, Oyegoke
MF - Trevitt (?)
FW - Brook, Pressley, Young-Coombes

It's starting to look like a complete rebuild is in order, even if some of the older players are retained and/or loaned out. Brook and Pressley will only play first team football from now on I imagine, away from Brentford.

Probably around 15,000 sources!! He was presented with the award on the pitch, and interviewed by Stu.

It was presented at HT...
He seems alright here! https://www.instagram.com/p/Cd5hdXDqIf3/

  1. Ben Winterbottom (20) - exp 2023
  2. Rocco Rees (20) - exp 2022 (1 yr option) - I suspect we'll activate his extension.
Defenders
  1. Ben Hockenhull (20) - exp 2022 (1yr option). Seems to have been missing recently. Likely off.
  2. Tristan Crama (20) - exp 2022 (1yr option) - has had a great season. extension?
  3. Jude Russell (20) - exp 2022 (1yr option) - no clues but played in recent BCD friendly..
  4. Nico Jones (20) - exp 2023 (1yr option)
  5. Lewis Gordon (21) - exp 2022 - Looks likely to be leaving. - source - Gordon's instagram comments
  6. Daniel Oyegoke (19) - exp 2024 (1yr option)
  7. Val Adedokun (19) - exp 2024 (1yr option)
Midfielders
  1. Jaako Oksanen (21) - exp 2022 - likely to move on..
  2. Max Haygarth (20) - exp 2022 (1yr option) - recovering from injury. Extension?
  3. Ryan Trevitt - (19) - exp?? - Still no info on when his contract expires. One of the younger players so more likely to stay..
  4. Dominic Jeffries (20) - exp 2022 (1yr option) - Mary Halder award winner. Extension or not?
  5. Roy Syla (21) - exp Oct 2022 (1yr option) - likely to be leaving. Rumoured interest from lower leagues.
Forwards
  1. Gustav Mogensen (21) - exp 2022 - recovering from injury - No sign of extended contract as yet.
  2. Aaron Pressley (20) - exp 2023 (1yr option) - recovering from injury
  3. Wraynel Hercules (20) - exp 2022 - likely to be leaving - source - Hercules comments on you tube chat.
  4. Alex Gilbert (20) - exp 2022 (1yr option) - likely to be leaving - source - Gilbert's instagram comments
  5. Lachlan Brook (21) - exp 2023 (1yr option) - on loan to Adelaide Utd - unlikley to feature in B team at his age. Possible loan extension or transfer?
  6. Nathan Young-Coombes (19) - exp 2024 (1yr option)
  7. Hans Mpongo (19) - summer 2022 (1yr option) -ON LOAN to IBV - not offered extension according to ÍBV fær ungan sóknarmann frá Brentford B (Staðfest)
  8. Deji Sotona (19) - on loan until 2022 (option buy) - option doesn't appear likely to be taken up.

Quick summary as to where we are (I think), please correct any errors! There are 2 trialists who've been with the club for a fair bit recently, left sided CB and a midfielder/AM/winger? CB looked v good in last couple of games so could well sign.

Can see Jefferies and Hercules suiting the League of Ireland maybe, which seems to be an increasingly popular league B teamers to transfer into and out of. Will be interesting to see if Shepperd, Adams and Coote play their way out of it and back to professional play in England or Scotland. Don't know what the hell happened with Titov, he went from POTM to dropped and now plying his trade in the Isthmian League.

Oksanen, Gordon, Hercules, Haygarth, Russell, Syla, Mogensen all leaving. Not taken up the buy option for Sotona. That’s 8 gone.

Definitely going to be a lot of signings this summer.

Really happy we’ve kept Crama for another year, looks like a real talent.

The part of that article that stands out most to me is 'Forward player Gustav Mogensen's contract has also come to an end. He will remain at the Club to continue his rehabilitation from a long-term injury to help him regain his fitness and find a new club.'

Gustav's contract is up and they have no real obligation to him any longer, but they're continuing to spend time and money on the man to help him rehab and continue his career. Respect in that move, for sure.

Surprised that Gilbert got an extension.. I thought he may have been moved on given he's past the two-year cycle .. agreed on the rest. Crama is much improved over the past year and I can see him being used in early round cup matches

No mention of Jefferies?

I always thought Lewis Gordon looked alright when I saw him. I guess that he is not ready for the step up and now, at aged 21, too old to further extend his B Team contract. I guess this will be the future pattern for the majority of our B Teamers.

That said, it is really impressive to me, how many have now reached the main squad. So can we say that the B Team project is a success ?

not surprised by the departures. If we were in the championship, one or two may have stayed, now it’s the EPL, we certainly need better back ups…..

Trevitt is the youngest player in the B team so hard to judge him this early, Crama’s been one of the best players in the team this year. Think Rees is just being kept as backup, and Gilbert probably has a little bit of value should we sell him.

Pretty much as expected for me. Except Gilbert, I’m not sure he’s shown enough in the games I’ve seen. I’m really pleased Trevitt has been kept. He’s versatile and looks a real talent with lots of time to develop further. I can see Sotona looking back on a career full of missed opportunities.

Is Tristan Crama the last foreigner on the B-team then? I knew Brexit would have an impact but the speed of the consequences surprises me.

I have always liked the look of Jeffries when I have seen his play. Of most of the B team players I would think he has a good footballing career ahead of him, not sure it is at PL level though.
