I wish they'd do a couple of "three 30 min halves" friendlies, see how many trialists we put out.

A lot of triallists but they all look a step up from previous seasons.
A good confident performance so far...

I’ve often wondered how long at the club trialists get before they’re signed up or released. I’m guessing not just one game like tonight’s as that would be unfair.

Allan Steele revealed the club where the impressive no. 5 trialist spent some time, but the in-house "obviously" interviewer commentator guy talked over him.

Good first half with some pleasing performances.
But second half was poor and didn't create a single chance.
We struggled to get out of our own half.
Gilbert got caught in possession in dangerous areas a few times.
Looks good but needs to cut that bit out of his game.
NYC looked lively and took his chance well.
We also hardly won an aerial challenge.
Hoolahan still has class.

This was more or less a Cambridge United first team I hear? Is that correct anyone?

I think so - this was the team sheet tonight. It was a very enjoyable evening and we have some fine players in our B team!

An elderly gentleman was walking around with them just before kick off in front of the main stand.
Dang !! Missed that .... will check eBay in a few days time. £10 a pop !? :)

Why didn’t the elderly gentleman just stand by the one entrance to the ground and give them out there

Did you get the turnstile operator asking if you wanted to keep your ticket ? ... not had that question posed before. I responded back, that these will be worth more than Barrow Away in a few years time :)

Only saw the first half but we did v well against a strong Cambridge side, particularly given that was our first game. Really liked the look of the trialist LB.. V quick and played some intelligent passes including a great assist for the first. Anyone any ideas who he was? Young-Coombes looks very lively and will bag a fair few I reckon.. Great to see Maghoma back, think he and Trevitt already looked like they're getting a bit of an understanding going..

You missed an amazing save by Shepherd in the 2nd half. Out of this world, from a cracking shot that was destined for the top corner.

You feel for the triallists, having to impress. Particularly the (Palace?) one whose own goal resulted in defeat last night!

Enjoyable evening out. Initially couldn't find any fellow Bees, but suddenly saw a red and white striped shirt in the crowd. Went over there and was about a dozen Bees there. Saw another in the end stand later.

Not difficult to understand the Bees way of playing, the number of times the quick through ball to the front was used. A lot of heavy running done, especially in the 1st half.

Interesting when you're watching a match in a small stadium close up. Nothing like watching from a high up camera position. Preferred it in fact. Much closer to the action.

If you message me your address I will send you a copy, if you would like it.

Yes, funnily enough we were asked if we wanted to keep our tickets!

A little bit of (good) sh*thousery by the club, billing the Cambridge team as a "Brentford XI" and then billing it as "Brentford B" in the report/pics etc. I very much doubt any first teamers will play in these "Brentford XI" matches.

You can also pay on the gate (card only) which is £12 for adults. The 96p online booking fee seems a bit daft for games that will never sell out.

I believe the clubhouse will be closed but there are outside bars at each end of the ground, again card payments only.

Thanks. Do you have a club shop ? And if so will that be open tomorrow ? After a Dulwich Hamlet mug :)

As far as I'm aware the club shop will be open before and after the game and at half-time, it's been open for all three pre-season matches so far. It's immediately to the left as you pass through the turnstiles. This is the current range of mugs according to the Supporters Trust website:

Unfortunately there probably won't be any programmes or teamsheets.
