Have to admit I was slightly disappointed with the Arsenal RB tonight. However; Joe Adams - MOTM, and Young-Coombes looks exciting. Good win against national league opposition.

Agree,foul throw, yellow after being caught in possession (which seemed to happen quite a lot) and short passes which put other players in trouble,
hopefully just a off day.

not sure if it’s been said before but I wouldn’t mind seeing our b team in the football league trophy. I know a lot are against the competition but it would be great to get a bit of competitive football into the b teasers against football league sides I’d have thought. That on a Tuesday night then off to Bayern Munich B on the Saturday

I don't like to dig out that guy as he's probably covering a number of roles, but it doesn't sound like he relishes B team player interviews at all, where he seems to have zero intuition about what to do to bring them out of themselves. Also, once you hear how many times he uses the word "obviously", you can't unhear it.

Yes the lad in the second half did look to have a lot of promise. Does anyone know if he is the chap from Colchester, or at least trialing at Colchester?Very good performance from the b team. Trialist up front looked promising.

Yes beautiful pass for the third goal, but with so much to offer he should be giving so much more. Needs a rocket up his b...s..e! I wish that he would put himself about more.

As they are not signed it would not be wise to advertise they are trialing for us just in case someone takes a fancy to them, and sticks a contract in front of them.I wonder why they don't give trialist's names? Bit demeaning.

To be fair he tailed off somewhat after an impressive first ten minutes. I expect concealing his name might have been futile as he's probably signed for Southend by now.

Tailed of yes, but poor bloke got very little service just a tad more that NYC in the first half. Chasing shadows comes to mind, still it was the first game this season against a National League side. As the man said, "they will learn from it"!

Good win for the B team considering it was only their third pre-season game and Southend are starting their season soon. From twitter it sounded like it was very much Southend's first team. Some good performances. Maghoma looked strong, battled well and when he found space used the ball well. Thought Crama did well at the back and Hockenhull was excellent when he came on. NYC pressed well but struggled a little after the first half hour, presumably fitness related. Joe Adams excellent as usual. Great goal from Brook. Striker trialist (Kone) had some good moments and looked strong, and I really liked the look of the little 17 trialist in midfield. Prob a bit lightweight but on the rare occasions he got on the ball he used it really intelligently. Both keepers did ok, but I think Cox would be disappointed with their second goal.
Overall a postive performance. Tough game and difficult to get our football going really as Southend pressed really hard and got in our faces. Credit to the boys for getting the win from 2-0 down early on. Showed great spirit and determination

It’s been mentioned on here several times. It’s a big “no” from me. Just think of where we’ve come from. How would you feel if we were L1 or L2 and it was Southend who went up to the EPL and their U-23’s entered the competition specifically for L1 & L2 Clubs? You wouldn’t want them in it!
Although, those at the Club may want to see this happen.

I was a bit disappointed with some of the play last night -- too many hasty clearances and not enough playing through midfield, plus the ball was given away too often. Still, it's early days for the B team, and having so many triallists and changes during the game obviously doesn't help in establishing good patterns of play. I'm sure there will be improvement as the season goes on. Maghoma does have real ability, but a bit more intensity wouldn't go amiss.

We are not the only people who watch these games, most clubs are scouting all these type of matches in the same way that our scouts are busy. Youth football at this level is very competitive when it comes a young player with prospects especially one who is current unsigned. Please do not twist my words it was you who questioned why we do not name trialists.The lure of Roots Hall was probably overwhelming. I expect that's why we didn't take Ivan Toney tonight.

It was only their third pre-season game and against a very strong first team. I think also after the defeat on Sat they'd been told to do the 'basics' of defending better so that was probably forefront in their minds. Southend were very quick to press so would have been a bit of an education for them in coping with that. Thought Hockenhull coped with it best when he came on, looked v composed..
