Palace are using a very strong lineup here!

Butland, Clyne, Kelly, Gallagher and Benteke all starting.

Actually looks like he's playing right wing. No Adams or Mogensen today.

1-0 palace. Bees started really well but Palace have been coming into it recently. Benteke too strong..

crazy couple of mins. Bees get pen for handball on the line. Gilbert misses with poor pen, then Stevens scores from the resultant corner! 1-1

I would hope we're playing 3 at the back as that seems to be the first team's preferred line-up at the moment

Not watching but looks like our youngsters are holding their own against a very strong Palace line up with an England capped keeper and Benteke with 40 Belgium caps.

What about our team? All B Teamers, but must be one of the strongest ever all B Team, team ever. Clearly we can go toe to toe with the Premier League under 23's now bring on Arsenal for the first team.

Yes I agree - I think the B team are now reserves who can come in and do a job and less unknowns than we've had before.

Would love to know what people thought of midfield of Bidstrup, Haygarth and Maghoma as rate all 3 very highly

V good result in what was a really tough test for the Brentford Bs against a strong Crystal Palace side including first teamers Butland (28), Kelly (31), Clyne (30), Benteke (30) and their new loan signing from Chelsea, Conor Gallagher.

It was a really tight game, with very little space in midfield and zero time on the ball. Palace probably created the most chances but the Bs can be really proud of themselves. They pressed incredibly well, particularly first half and deserved to get a result. Bidstrup stood out in particular, he was everywhere and used the ball really well even getting a couple of shots in. Gilbert caused them a lot of problems down their right but Haygarth took a while to get into the game. Gordon was v good at left back and it was probably Oyegoke's best game for us so far. Fin Stevens was captain and playing in an unusual position (for him) wide on the right. Did pretty well there though, both hitting the bar and scoring our only goal.

The goal came after we'd had a shot stopped on the line by a Palace hand. Gilbert took the pen but it was a weak one and too close to the keeper. He rather bizarrely turned away in disgust and missed what could have been a chance at the rebound. From the resulting corner though, Stevens found space at the far post and nodded in.

Both Adams and Mogensen were missing, whether that's down to injury or pending loans remains to be seen. Bidstrup got a good 60 minutes under his belt..

For what its worth, I think Bidstrup and Haygarth have a great future ahead of them.

We actually won the game against Palace 2-1. Lachlan Brook had a shot that went in but hit one of the poles in the side netting that go behind the line and bounced out and it wasn't given!! Just seen a highlight in the Brendan MacFarlane interview.

Tickets are now on sale for Brentford B’s match against Eastleigh on Friday 20 August.

The fixture will take place at AFC Totton’s Snow’s Stadium in a 7pm kick-off and you can now secure your place to see Neil MacFarlane’s side in action.

Oh, thanks for pointing that out. Wouldn't be the first time I made this sort of mistake and turned up, wrong venue, day or time!

Some great play from the Bs in this one against a really tough side. Couple of bits stand out. Gilbert's awful penalty and his reaction, turning away when he could have got on to the rebound. Sure MacFarlane will be pointing that out! Also, Brooks' fantastic effort at the end which basically hit the side of the goal and came out but wasn't given.

To be fair to Gilbert he had a pretty good game and was involved in most of our best attacking moments..

Ample parking in the ground with leafy surrounds for anyone needing their ‘old Brentford’ fix today to bring yourself back down to earth.

Poor first half. 2-0 down but could easily be 3 or 4. Was against the wind and slope and Aldershot constantly put the ball over the top so hopefully an improvement in the second half. Hockenhull lost in possession for the first.

Not much noise from the Aldershot fans.

Didn't look as bad I thought it would, seems like he had a momentary lapse and thought it was a shootout! The highlights cut away so quickly that we didn't hear anything from Farls, so will never know if he bellowed "ALEEEEEEEEEEEEEX!!!". Hopefully he didn't do that in the dressing room, he'd blow the door off. When the post-match interview comes out and the "Obviously" guy is talking to Farls, I pray the sounds of construction continue on, so we can hear some cliches about "dealing with the conditions" and "the noise of the machinery" etc.

Its not match related but I needed to post somewhere - I’m currently on holiday near Dunoon and whilst googling interesting things about the place it came up with “famous people” born there and our very own Neil MacFarlane came up! Also for older Bees - Stewart Houston (famous for playing for Man U but not famous for playing for Bees apparently)! !
