perhaps we can slip-in a few slightly older players who need to find their form. including a couple of our wingers who are off-the-boil?

Wouldn't be surprised to see a couple of first teamers needing minutes. Maybe a few for Thompson, Norgaard, Ghoddos etc? We might have a friendly planned though for that purpose..

Dom Thompson and Balcombe the only first teamers in the squad today. Wonder if there'll be a first team friendly at the weekend in that case?

Balcombe, Stevens, O'Connor, Hockenhull, Thompson, Trialist, Hammar, Haygarth, Brook, Pressley, Gilbert,

Subs: Andersson, Jared Thompson, Hercules, Gordon, Maghoma, Trialist, Koutsimouka, Carre, Crama.

H/T 0-1 Bees
Chelsea have had 3 corners but no threat, no attempts on goal
Bees had 2 good chances to go 2 up & really should be - moving ball about, playing well, pressing Chels defenders
More of the same second half lads!

Decent first half. Played very well first 30 odd then Chelsea started to get into it a bit. Defending v well. Gilbert and Brook looking lively.. Trialist no.6 looks solid and composed on the ball, he's started the last few so we must be interested in him. Anyone any idea who he is?

I've rewatched the penalty 3 times. Still can't see what it was for

Hockenhull off for Koutsimouka and Brook off for Maghoma. Looked a good 45 for Brook. v soft pen for Chelsea to equalise

I've only been flicking to the stream when the bench noise goes up a notch, but does Thompson look a bit out of step? Usually first teamers dropping down have an assurance/presence about them, but since he passed it straight out of play for a corner about 30 seconds in, he's looked not out of place in this XI.

We are looking better now. They are lying around a lot.

2-1 Chelsea in the end. They didn't really deserve it though. Brentford B were excellent for most of the game. Lost the shape a bit second half and got caught on the break for their second. Pressley had a couple of good chances to equalise at the end but couldn't find the finish. Some really impressive performances. Balcombe, KOC2, Haygarth, Gilbert (1st half), Brook in particular with able support from the likes of Stevens and Hammar.

Interesting game. We worked more opportunities by some way, but couldn't put it away. Apart from 15 minutes start of 2nd half Chelsea didn't seem all that, but Brown and the 2nd goal scorer were fast. Brown a handful. Stevens looked good but I was very impressed by Hammer. No wonder he is on first team bench. He was a real problem for them.

Towards the end we should have scored 3 or 4 times. Bit unlucky but also some poor finishing.

Balcombe seems to be improving. He wasn't great on the ball before but he was looking way more comfortable today, even coming out of his area to sweep up a few times and pinging out some passes to the wide players. Came for a couple of crosses too. If he can add that to his undoubtable shot stopping talent he'll be a hell of a keeper. With him and Gunnarsson doing so well on loan we're not doing badly with keepers at the mo..
