Get in! Much needed win against a really tough Barnsley side. Much better second half with Marcondes getting forward and finding space from midfield, gave them something else to think about and allowed us more space on the wings. Certainly not at our fluid best but you could see the confidence coming back after we scored. Managed the game really well and should prob have had two more from Mbeumo and Forss. 3 clean sheets now.. :D Janelt was superb as were Henry and Raya. Dalsgaard too, got forward a lot more than recently. Fosu did very well and has surely secured that spot for Friday.. Certainly still nowhere near our best but very impressed with the way we saw it out. Hope JDS hasn't anything serious... Bring on the Ra-Ras, will be more of a threat than Barnsley but a lot more generous in defence....

A marked improvement on the game against Wycombe. Always nice to get the 3 points and score a goal.
Hope for a flood of goals in the next game!!!

Good team selection, good subs, good goal and a very good win. Thought our confidence came back once we scored. Onwards to Friday night.

Not sure. Think his arm moves after the ball hits it, not before. Certainly didn't try to handle the ball.
Don’t think we could complain if the penalty had been given. Still, not the worst referee performance ever. That’d be Roy Biggar in 1993 in the Notts County game

Did Raya have to make a save second half?

Janelt and Fosu impressed me.

We finally scored a goal.

Hope Josh is ok!

On to Friday with a spring in the step.

I thought Fosu was superb also.
Agreed. Links up well with Rico, good movement off the ball, drifts inside when necessary. Use Canos as a sub for right hand side as he also offered something on that side when came on. Now to work on Ghoddos fitness so he offers us an option as an alternative and cover for Fosu.

Real team performance.

And online commentary didn't crash and far slicker tonight. Who is Mic? Excellent comments from him.

Great win ! Janelt made a massive difference allowed Da Silva and particularly Jensen to get further forward, Fosu worked really hard and made a good impact too . You could see the confidence flow back and a dodgy handball aside we totally bossed it after we scored and should have made it safe well before the end. Just hope Da Silva is ok .

I thought Raya was particularly good this evening. He didn’t have to do much traditional goalkeeping work, but he was like another defender, reading the game exceptionally well.

As well as everything written here, I thought one of the bright spots was the return to top form of Pontus. He was back to his best.
*and that backheel attempt on goal? Was that a deliberate attempt?

That’s how you win games, by playing in their half. Much, much better performance. The whole team played like a team. In control for most of the game, could and should have been more.and once we did score we managed the game so well, so pleased about the improved performance, for me Fosu had a good game , making good tackles and good off the ball work, that is what midfield players need to do. before the start of the game I thought this could well be a win for Barnsley, as they have been on a good run. Thanks bees and lets have more of the same.

Nah. He was just trying to get the ball back in the mix. And that header at goal was dreadful. but otherwise yes, very good night. :sorted:

A good, characteristic Thomas Frank performance, especially in the second half when we completely shut them down. We are still too slow in starting attacks from the back and lack a bit of quality out wide, but plenty of time left in the season. Ghoddos may yet be the answer or else there is always the January market. Also it was the best game of the season for set pieces, where we actually looked dangerous. Let's not forget the form Barnsley were on and they created the square root of flip all.

Janelt and Raya were the stand-outs, Dalsgaard had one of his better games, too.

Worth getting up at 3.45am. Nice to get a 1-0 in our favour with some very pleasing performances. I watched on Barnsleys iFollow coverage and their 2 commentators were incensed by the penalty decision as I suppose we would have been if the other way round. Get a win against them lot on Friday and we will be settling into the top 6.

It was one of those games where being one nil up with half an hour to play you would normally be worried but that wasn't the case with me anyway as Barnsley never threatened or certainly weren't allowed to and we looked so comfortable.

Janelt man of match by miles top top performance in an unglamorous position. Another excellent signing.

Very solid performance. Everyone had more purpose and zing from the start.
Raya played the options well, mixed up playing from back and highly effective long kicks.

Contained Barnsley well, and good game management after scored.

Janelt is a real find. Very Norgaard like in the way he breaks up play, wins the ball and gets us moving again.
Being realistic, if this was the PL, that would have been a penalty against us, softer ones than that are given with VAR.
However, we need some football kindness for a change.

Only 1 loss in 9, no defeats in 6. Yes, not all great results, not all great football, but we are grinding out points as this team progressively improves as a squad.

Now the game that really matters, as that lot from ‘down the road’ arrives. Another late goal for us would be enjoyable, so long as we’re 2-0 up before that.

They also thought the foul on Dalsgaard was fair and that he got the ball.

But on the few occasions he was called into action he dealt with it calmly.
