The penalty could have changed momentum and you need a bit of luck to go up overall it’s been a. 3-4 out of 10 all round.

Just a day when it hasn't happened for us... both Barnsley goals had lucky ricochets (entirely deserved but on another day would have fallen to us) and we probably had the rub of the green against Middlesbrough and Reading. I think the starting team was probably wrong with hindsight (particularly missing Jensen as no one to stich it all together in the middle) but you can't play twice a week for months and not have an off-day.

Back to earth with a bump. Very disappointing. Yet again we fail to measure up against the press, the niggling and the fouling to break up and slow play down. What can be done about this?

Bad day at the office - that’s life. Just looked a game too far for some of the players. But can someone explain to me why Thomas didn’t change things the minute they scored their second?

Horrific performance, full backs in particular have had nightmares.

Barnsley deserved it, fair play to them.

Take it on the chin and move on.

Haven't really created anything. Barnsley have been the better team. Take it on the chin and move on. If nothing else it should keep us humble.

I'd almost forgotten what this felt like.

Frustrating is an understatement.. had to lose at some point but it's crap to lose like this. At least we don't have to wait long to put this right!

We need to defend an awful lot better if we are to Maintain a top 2 challenge ... Reid in and Tariq start on Wednesday

OK bad day today but we have just gone 21 games without defeat. Just need to start again on Wednesday. Good team does not become bad overnight.
second half we were better but still pretty poor. First half we had no midfield at all. Plus today we made subs way too late.

Well beaten. Poor defensively once again (some issues here that need to be sorted out ASAP). Didn’t create a lot. Got what we deserved. F all. 🤷‍♂️

Some proper bed wetting on this thread.

We’ve lost one game in half a season and some of you are ready to declare the season over.

We haven’t lost to a promotion rival.
We should have had a nailed on penalty at 0-2
I’d rather lose to this lot than Q*R.
We’re still second FFS.
Some of you need to get a grip.

They won nearly every ball, and had often 3 men on us when we did have it.

The unbeaten run had to happen some time, so perhaps just as well now.

Need to take it out on that lot at Loftus Road!

Well a fantastic run, great results of late and it always had to end sometime. The worrying thing is that we cannot play against a high press and we knew it was going to happen but were incapable of coming up with an answer. We also struggle against crosses into the box and we don't seem to have an answer to that either. Thats what worries me, fundamentally we don't seem very good in defence, at least not for a top two team. Not the end by any means, but we have basic problems, which have been obvious for a long time now and we have no answer at the moment.

I didn't think it's been that bad! Just disappointment at an abject performance!

Other teams can’t do what we do pal.
it takes a lot of hard work, in the transfer market and on training pitch. No one’s as fit as us in this league
Apart from the 11 teams above you?!

Weird.

We’ve played much better than this. We are as energetic and as fit as anyone else in this division. Transfer market?! What’s that meant to mean?! I suggest you check out Brentford and their transfer policy!!

Last season the two banks of 5 was the Achilles, this year it is the high press but not many teams can sustain it.

I am surprised with the team selection we started with knowing what they were going to do and we kind of sleep walked into it and more annoyingly didn’t make the subs 25 minutes earlier,

We are very slow passing out from the back and it’s great when teams sit back but bent you give a soft goal way and they press we just pass ourselves into trouble

Every promotion season has these and Norwich, Swansea, muff and Watford have all had plenty this season.

Just need to make sure it is only a blip,

1) Had the chances to score, but were not clinical.

2) Usually reliable 90 min performers struggled vs a tricky opponent. Janelt, Henry, Pinnock and others.

3) Were too impatient 2nd half. Unusual for us but we went 4-4-2 and started playing long ball when there was still plenty of time left. Again, credit Barnsley, we obviously felt our normal game wasn’t going to be enough.

This is true. Reading did it to us but their legs had gone after 65 minutes.

Still need to work out a way to play against this high press... I almost feel we should have tried long ball today and just bypassed it completely and tried to play on the second ball. Really exposed Sorensen today I thought but he's still really young and has had to play a lot more games than expected.

If the run had to end, and it had to at some point, I'm just glad it wasn't against White City.

No complaints like last year they were the better team and deserved to end our unbeaten run. No matter how good a team you are you can't keep giving early goals away in games and always expect a positive result at the end. We have to dust ourselves down and regroup for QPR.
Too many players below the level expected which over a long season I suppose is to be expected sometimes.

You can assume other teams will learn a lot about our weaknesses from this game, really need to work hard to cut out such basic errors.. Pinnock had an absolute shocker today.

I don't think we have a particular problem against the high press, it's just that they were very good at it and we were below par. I'm more worried about some of our defending. Defend properly and that is a scrappy cagey game that we might have won if the ref hadn't bottled the penalty decision.

Thought Sorenson was the best of the starting back four today.

The other three all made mistakes at some point

Absolutely spot on
TF will have us reign
