Well done Barnsley, you completely deserved the win ....... and Magical, you called it exactly!

Unbeaten run had to end sometime, glad it wasn't against the Ra-Ra's.
We'll be OK......it's a Marathon, not a sprint.

Can't complain about the result at all despite their goals being a bit on the lucky side with the build ups. On another day Ghoddos scores in the first half and we get a pen second half. 21 unbeaten is a massive achievement in this league and let's target it again starting Wednesday. Credit to Barnsley though they certainly have our number in terms of playing us at ours.

Jensen back for Wednesday please - today may have been a good chance to see how a midfield of Janelt, Norgaard and Dasilva/jensen may have dealt with the Bransley press shame injuries won't allow it. Also might it be time to start Reid alongside Pinnock, give Mads a rest and allow Pinnock to play on his favoured side for a game.

Gutted to have my Sunday ruined by that!

It’s all about how we respond now. We were going to get beat at some point and looked so flat today. Let’s beat Rangers and go on another run 🤞

We seemed to have learned nothing from the game at the end of last season, which was very disappointing. I was expecting us to have worked on solutions to the high press, but there was zero evidence of that. Especially in midfield we were weak and second to every ball . Any manager watching this will have seen how to play against us, but fortunately most teams will be ill equipped to switch to Barnsley's style. I'm reasonably optimistic that we will bounce back in the next two games.

Frustrating way to end a great unbeaten run. Really not at it. I don't think anyone in the team can hold their hand up and say they were at their best. All credit to Barnsley though, they really did a job on us. What is disappointing is that that wouldn't have been a surprise and we didn't seem to have a plan to deal with it other than to boot it long for Toney to lose.. Hopefully a bit of a kick up the **** and we'll come out flying on wed.. Subs had little or no impact, although maybe Jensen picked out a few better passes. Looked a pen and that would prob have changed the dynamic hugely but we've only got ourselves to blame for letting two poor goals in. Time for a defensive shake up? Pinnock looks like he needs a rest and is really struggling on the right along with Dalsgaard.

Barnsley kept the high press going for 96mins . Stopped our natural fast passing game. Plus the repeated soft fouls and time wasting to break up our game. It worked. Hopefully this’ll be a useful wake up call. You can’t win every game. .... let’s get things back on track on Wednesday.

Other teams can’t do what we do pal.
it takes a lot of hard work, in the transfer market and on training pitch. No one’s as fit as us in this league
.....can you sell us your big Danish centre half please :sorted:

Apart from the 11 teams above you?!

Weird.

We’ve played much better than this. We are as energetic and as fit as anyone else in this division. Transfer market?! What’s that meant to mean?! I suggest you check out Brentford and their transfer policy!!
no one presses as good as us in this league, for him to say we’ve shown teams how to beat you he maybe right, but they can’t do it, we’ve recruited to play like this, and we’ve worked hard at it for a few years.
Teams can’t just decide to play like us.

I fully expect all clubs scout the opposition, I don’t think the high press causing issues will surprise anyone,
True. Every team will have a weakness but it doesn’t necessarily mean the opposition will expose it successfully every time. It does get frustrating every time we get a bad result people posting words to the effect that “we’ve been sussed”, Not aimed at you BTW

Thought Sorenson was the best of the starting back four today.

The other three all made mistakes at some point
Yeah, I agree that none of the defence played well today (rare to say that about Rico) but I meant more in possession - I think MBS struggles more than others with being pressed high like that. We need a defender like Tarky (dare I say it) who can beat a man and bring it out himself to break the line.

You can assume other teams will learn a lot about our weaknesses from this game, really need to work hard to cut out such basic errors.. Pinnock had an absolute shocker today.
Ethan has been class for us 👍
Not great today but so rarely lets us down 👏

As terrible as we were, Barnsley were brilliant. Wouldn’t put it past them sneaking into the top 6. They knew what they had to do and I was not expecting them to play with such intensity for the full 90.

We was unbeaten not unbeatable. It’s just the way we’ve ended our run, that game was so terrible.

If you think this hurts, let’s just hope we beat QPR on Wednesday if we don’t then it’a time for a meltdown.

This is true. Reading did it to us but their legs had gone after 65 minutes.

Still need to work out a way to play against this high press... I almost feel we should have tried long ball today and just bypassed it completely and tried to play on the second ball. Really exposed Sorensen today I thought but he's still really young and has had to play a lot more games than expected.
Surprised when people dig out Mads when Pinnock should be the one getting stick imo.

Hand it to Barnsley, they had the discipline and stamina to do what others have tried - high press, physical play, exploit our weakness at defending set pieces, break up our play, and stick to what they are good at.
I'd have started Fosu.
We really need Jannsen back to organise our defence.
They played cleverly on Pinnock's right footedness, which made clearances awkward.
Need a good result against HaHa to restore momentum.
Have to get this conceding early monkey off our backs.

Ghoddos scores or we get the penalty and it could have been very different, but we and Barnsley got what we deserved. Giving away cheap goals was going to catch up with us eventually.

Still, I’d have taken 9 points from the last 4 games and its all about the reaction now, don’t lose either of the next two and then power on....

Also agree that Pinnock could do with a break, he’s class but has played almost continuously and looks like he’s losing concentration And a game or two out may help to refocus.

All good things come to an end. Disappointing it ended with such a poor perfomance, but all credit to Barnsley they deserved their win. I've always felt that when the defeat came it was how we responded to it that will matter. I guess we will find out on Wednesday.

Too many players had off days today, you can get away with one or two having bad games, but to pick a MOM for this one is going to be hard.

As poor as we were Barnsley were excellent, and are very good at how they play, look how well they played against Chelsea.

Too many players had off days with Pinnock in particular having a shocker. Still we had to lose and i thought it would be at Boro last week.. Need to recharge and focus for Wednesday.

Good at the high press and attacked really well. The second goal has a hint of fortune to it. Barnsley are very decent side. I don't think we can complain with that result when we were very average.
Thankfully few sides have the energy or application to replicate what Barnsley did today.
Draw a line under it and let's bounce back against the pooper scoopers.

As as been said by a lot of others on here Barnsley had the correct game plan and players to carry it out

The next unbeaten run starts now.

For me Tho as please don’t start with Ghoddos, Jensen must start. I think also Reid for Pinnock would be a decent call.

As has been said above all good things come to an end. We are still in a strong position. We were never going to always come from behind to win.

Nothing to do with your fitness. I doubt you are fitter than us. Everything to do with how we approached this game. We knew very well what you are about and should have come out of the blocks. We didnt adapt and you deservedly won. Big error by our management. Still one defeat in 22 isn't the end of the world. Good luck for the rest of the season.

Well beaten, not at the races today, very disapointing you just cant see Norwich or Swansea losing many at home to mid table teams.
Can’t see us losing many at home to mid table teams either. This came after 21 unbeaten but had to end. What matters now is the reaction

How we respond now is very important. This run was always going to end at some point. Shoring up the defence is key, when was our last clean sheet? Can't outscore everyone.

Overall fantastic run, some players still lets be honest need to step up another gear to stay top 2. It's time to be fair but still critical.

Most teams in our league would have beaten us today , Credit to Barnsley , However I think the commentary was a bit OTT on how good they were . We were just turgid , one of those days . Move on , no bed wetting here . Still second 4pts ahead last time I looked 😁

No complaints like last year they were the better team and deserved to end our unbeaten run. No matter how good a team you are you can't keep giving early goals away in games and always expect a positive result at the end. We have to dust ourselves down and regroup for QPR.
Too many players below the level expected which over a long season I suppose is to be expected sometimes.
Totally agree, you cant keep giving teams head starts. Just dont think the squad is strong enough with the injuries and the number of games we have to play.

The St. Valentine’s Day Massacre.

Not one of our players performed today. Shocking defending for both goals and we were lucky not to concede more.
Barnsley by far the better side. They ran all afternoon and chased everything. Worthy winners.

Now, on the positive side, we’ve got that monkey of a long unbeaten run off our backs and we can start again. No need for our heads to drop. We had to lose at some point and I think that was at the back of some players’ minds today. A fresh start on Wednesday and get ready for the run in. Onwards and upwards.

Big response needed Wed. I imagine much of the same as today, but this time JDS and Ghoddos need to be buying their chances.
