We can play better than that. Too many sloppy passes - we could have been severely punished. Thank goodness for Ivan, great performance and pleased for the goalie. However, it was a good ugly win!

poor. Front two isolated. No guile in mid. We nicked three.points.Good defending but Thomas needs to raise the bar or it will be a bleak winter. Baptiste and Wissa showed that when they are fully fit they can help to improve things. Hope Rico is ok. Done by Sergi who was dreadful.

3 points, the first in a while. Yet, that has to be one of the most unsatisfying wins I've seen. Good start up until the goal (which I don't think we'd have scored if it wasn't a pen). Thought at times there was a lot of hoofing it forward, individuals seemed isolate. The intricate passing all happened amongst our back 3. Good performance from Onyenka I thought. On the positive side, Fernandez took more crosses, even though the kicking still needs to improve. Overall, 3 points. Something to build on. But it was an alarming display at times

Wonderful and perhaps vital to have won today. No matter how that was achieved. Goode did just that and Alvarez kept us in the game more than once and it's great to have both Baptiste and Wisa back. As for Ivan he's the absolute penalty wiz snd well deserved MoM yet again. Hope his first goal at The BCS spurs him on for many more starting with Spurs. Win at Elland road and we could overtake Man Utd. COYBs.

how the f=/k do the BBC work out player rating, on the match report they gave Wissa MOM, Jansson got 2.9 out of 10 and Goode 5.5, the 2 bottom ratings. The BBC are just a waste of space when it comes to match reports, utter crap.

We have played far, far better than that this season and lost.. So although it probably should have been a nil nil scoreless bore draw, we'll all happily take the 3 points.. Ivan mom for me very closely followed by Vitaly Janelt.. Whilst Sergio has been brilliant for us over the years I seriously am having trouble making a case for him lately. Onwards and upwards. You Beeees.

Hope that Noorgard and Henry are OK. We need them as they try to play to feet.

At every level I've ever seen us play I've seen games where we've struggled, scrapped and ground out a win. Today won't live long in the memory but we got 3 points so hey, that's OK. Some of the comments on here are remarkably harsh.

No win at home since the opening day . A stat we badly needed to remedy .
Need 10 wins to stay up, have been stuck on 3 wins for quite a while.
Right now, surely 3 points and a poor display is better than a decent-ish performance with one or no points ? (Which is how you get relegated?)

I'm also delighted that Everton got 0 points for their lack of respect beforehand, their appalling gamesmanship when Rico got injured and their fury that their team dare lose to us. f*** off home you classless ****s.

Tough match. That defence and midfield looked pick to defend.
And boy did they defend.
Pontus was an absolute giant organsing everyone and covering the potential vulnarabilities at RCB and goalkeeper, both of whom hasd their best games for Brentford.
Onyeka was signed exactly for this type of match. His athelticism, he was a powerhouse. Norgaard gave as goosd a performance you could ever wish for. Janelt played like a man possessed.
Henry and Canos as expected were pegged back a lot more than previous matches.
Toney cloned himself expecially the last 20 minutes as he was everywhere. A well taken penalty.
Mbeumo had a poor game.
But that was fine but we had not outlet and noone holding the ball. That was until Baptiste came on and suddenly we were flooded with energy and drive linking midfield and forwards. Wissa gave a nice cameo. Also shout out to Roerslev who came on and did a better job than Canos against their left back.
We got our 3 points we needed.
But we need Baptiste to play in that midfield. And we are so missing Ajer.

Felt the atmosphere was a lot better today…Fernández looked more assured great save just after the penalty…his kicking was questionable…Henry for me was man of the match ….he gets better and better every game class player

The last time I saw Brentford play Everton in a League match was almost 70 years ago on 20 September 1952. That day Everton comprehensively beat Brentfiord 4-2 with a masterly left wing display for Everton by Tommy Eglington. It was therefore pleasing to see the Bees beat Everton today.
Although I was only 9 years old in 1952 and did not have much knowledge of the niceties of football I believe that I am correct in saying that the 1952 Everton in League 2 played much better in that game than the Everton team did today. Equally Tommy Lawton who played centre forward for Brentford in that 1952 game played to a much higher standard than any forward did in the game today. I stood behind the goal on the Ealing Road end in a 22,000 crowd and was amazed at the power that Tommy Lawton was able to get on his headed goal. It is not an exaggeration to say that he could head the ball harder than most players could kick it.
