Sheffield Wednesday very poor. They didn’t threaten going forward, yet somehow they got caught with our counter attack numerous times. A full strength side and it would have been 7 or 8.

As for us, with injuries and loss of momentum we weren’t going to get a brilliant 10/10 performance - we almost just needed to stumble upon a lineup and opposition combination that got us the next win to get confidence back up. Today it worked out that way. Despite the scoreline it wasn’t pretty at times. But we deserved the win anyway.

Pontus, Henry, Norgaard, Dasilva, Toney all missing from the starting lineup. Each of their first team understudies also not fit enough to start (Goode, Thompson, Baptiste, Marcondes, Forss). Bound to be weaker and having to carry a couple of square pegs - but overall did enough. Got to be happy with that. Can’t be many teams capable of winning 3-0 in this league with an injury list like this.

No mention of scoring from a long throw for 1st time since Terry Evans 91/92 season?

Thought we were poor for long periods tonight, could hardly string 3 passes together, but tonight was about the result not the performance. Could not fault the lack of effort and Reid in particular looked good. We got better as the game went on helped by the substitutions. Sheff Wed were dire so made the perfect opponents tonight. We can now shake ourselves down and go again on Saturday. We can only get better but in all honesty happy to take the 3 points for the last 14 games, that's all that matters right now. We should not worry about the teams around us, if we can perform and get the points the rest will take care of itself.

ridiculous over reaction to some but to others it showed a problem that needed sorting......you think tf doesnt think we were utter garbage on saturday and needed to do something about it or did he just get lucky tonight ?? if the first thing you do when we win is slag off other brentford fans to make a cheap point then bully for you.......its exactly the same as those who come on here when we lose to say told you so secretely pleased they were right ;)
I’m not sure what your point is. Are you saying he got lucky tonight? I can tell you he certainly won’t have read your threads that’s for sure. What was the problem that got sorted?

Think you need to grow a thicker skin my old china.

and who says he doesnt ready what i put on here ? i havent had that confimed by tf one way or the other LOL

You jester. I'm sure I remember the winner against Norwich in 09/10 coming from David Hunt special move ;)
It was special because it rarely lead to a goal.

Look it’s just my opinion....I think Jensen is very inconsistent but in the future I won’t comment so I don’t offend anyone on here
Not agreeing with an opinion isn't taking offence. Don't be so precious mate.

The back 4 were immense and intense from the start. They took control of the pace of the game and seemed to be willing Bryan and Tariq forward. I do wonder if Ivan being out meant others stepped up - it was so different to the last two games. Left-bech-Sorrenson was excellent, Bryan had space, Sergi wasn’t arguing with Ivan. Jensen and Vitaly just went about their business - breaking up play, flicking or caressing the ball into dangerous spaces - tireless work from both. Then Ghoddos... if he continues to improve as he has done over the past month and realises the potential he clearly has, then we have another gem. But then, cherry on the c. On comes Maarcondes - sorry, Emiliano. I think we’ve missed him. He makes other players look good. He ’takes one for the team’. He’s a good game manager and an important and welcome returnee.

If you’re serious, yes of course. Funny how a football game can lift the darkness for an hour or so. COYB.
When my dad died in 2010, I had to have Saturday of normality to perk me up, the weekend before his funeral. Unfortunately it was a home match against Yeovil, and we lost! Didn't improve the D&G going through my head at the time (not unsurprisingly). Glad you had a better 90 minutes than I did.

Good win to get us back on track after a tough week. Nice to see Bryan and Saman on the scoresheet. Reid was solid and MBS had a stormer.

Is a pretty big and formidable back 4, especially when we have CN back patrolling in front of them. We will miss Rico’s surging runs but we could have stumbled upon a formula to make us much less likely to concede.

Good win tonight, just what we needed.

Sheff We'd were awful though. Imagine the wages that Bannan, Westwood, Lees, Reach, Rhodes etc are on...and then contemplate being THAT bad.

Henry’s surging runs replaced by Dalsgaard’s total football appearance as an auxiliary forward.

This team is made of tougher stuff. Between Reid, Janelt, Canos and Dalsgaard we showed that we’re not as naive as last season. Wonderful unBrentford like performance today

I thought we played really well, bit more pace and movement. Fantastic to get the winning habit again, hopefully not just for one game. Saturday will be a bit tougher I dare say. Absolutely amazed how fans of the same club can end up arguing with each other after a result like that. I just don't get it, some people are very positive, some less so, I don't get the need to call your fellow supporters names, especially after a good win.

Good result and a decent enough performance against a very poor team. Thank god for the timing.

Toney being on the bench was a surprise and it was good to see Marcondes at least back in the fold.
Comfortable for most of the 90 minutes, a couple of cynical yellows (the Dals one was not the greatest, there's a line somewhere i'm sure) but it was good to see instructions had been taken on board to stop counters.

Mbeumo and Ghoddos both a goal and assist each without really playing that well but will do wonders for their confidence. Ghoddos was a lovely finish.
Mbeumo was a cushioned header but ifollow would have you believe it smacked him square in the face. You can see from Bryan's body shape that he meant it.

Lots of work to do and I worry about MBS at left back in the long term but Harris was very quiet on his side. Bannan once again playing well and leaving me wondering just how he is still with this rotten Wednesday team.

Hoping Norgaard is next to make the matchday squad followed by Pontus in a few weeks. Sounds to me like managing JDS is a long term thing and will need something more serious in the summer after the season? Which is such a shame.

Wednesday were poor but before last night they hadn't conceded many more than us and they started the game brightly enough. I was impressed with how we played as a unit and got stronger as the game went on, qualities we will need against Stoke.

To win like that with so many injuries was fantastic.
The back 4 gave us the belief and confidence to start playing our stuff.
EP back in his best position and MBS looked a natural.
HD and WR outstanding

I don't agree that Weds were a poor side. IMO their manager got it right by saying they were always in the game but didn't create clear chances. IMO that was due to a good defensive display by the Bees. Bonus was Bryan at central attack and that may have given him a boost. He looked far more effective there but he isn't going to replace Toney. Bannan is Wednesday. Everything was ticking through him and he put sime wicked crosses in. But we won. Needed that.

I reckon we should request permission to play SheffW every February (as long as we’re both in the same division).
- The GP Memorial Game..
Last season we played them on 7th March the last game before lockdown and season suspension, but Co-incidentally we also played them on a run of poor results, the previous five games saw us gain four points out of a possible fifteen P5 W0 D4 L1.

Difficult one to assess, could be tactically they got it wrong. Did not pressurise Sorensen which was the obvious route. Raya hardly had a save to make. At the end of the day you can only beat the team in front of you.

A reasonable performance.
A lot of work still to do to get back to our best.
A newcomer in central defence. An improvised left back. An improvised central striker. Many of our preferred starting eleven out injured or on the bench. The performance wasn't "reasonable", it was brilliant given the improvised nature of the team.

I made the mistake of starting last night on the Sky red button. The commentator was doing my head in generally, but specifically because he kept going on about how bad our defensive record is. I know it's been poor for the last few games, but =8th overall over the season? Not to mention GF and GDiff. Did I miss an astute contextual reference (e.g. last X games) or was he just wittering? iFollow came to the rescue at half time.

Before Mr. Untouchable does his fact check and gets us all hyped up, I would just say:

1. Delighted with the win. It was urgently needed. The only team that was going to beat us tonight was ourselves.
2. I'm not going overboard with how good the defence and WR looked just yet. That team have scored just 21 goals all season. And it showed. If we can't look tight against SW, I really would be worried.
3. The best things about tonight are 3 points, some extra recovery time for our injured players and I hope, some rediscovered self-belief and confidence.
4. Pity that the other main teams all won (I don't count Muff as they were daft enough to appoint Woodgate).
But, also, before last night, they had only conceded 32 (compared to our 34).

They did seem to have a "keep it to a 1-0 defeat" mentality – plenty of sideways possession, back to the 'keeper, lump it up, wait for it to come back.

I work with a Wednesday fan and his comment, this morning, was: "we can pass it across n back better than anyone".

No mention of scoring from a long throw for 1st time since Terry Evans 91/92 season?
I was thinking, "law of averages, that throw must pay dividends, eventually", but I was having my doubts. It could be the most significant goal of the season.
