From the teamsheet it looked better. Plus the bench looked far far better.
Agreed that the bench looked better, the starters just weren't all in there normal positions which made me worried. The fact that we didn't have to make subs too early and rely on a bench of players returning from knocks/injury is real credit to the starters. All our subs came on for a light run around which was a huge relief.

Remember Rhodes saying he would come back and play for us at the end of his career... NO THANKS
Not now, though I think he said that quite a while ago when we were still a L1 club. I think he'll be aware that he wouldn't be up to playing for us now.

The end of his career was probably 3 years ago.
Easily. In fact if you look hes done nothing for about 6 years. How SW thought it was a good idea is just weird. Hasnt hit double figures since 2014-15.

Well done bees. Comfy in the end but can never agree with the ifollow commentators saying things are comfortable at 1-0.

Everyone worked their socks off and great to get Toney and Marcondes on the pitch. I think the front 3 interchanging worked well but we need Toney on 65mins to give us an extra lift.

Back 4 was solid and any of them could be mom. But Henrik gets it for me.

Rest up for Saturday which will be tougher for sure.

Comfortable win against a poor Wednesday side who never looked like scoring. After the past week.and having a long injury list it was food to see Toney and Marcondes get sime game time and for us to actually keep a clean sheet.

2nd half much better and with better finishing could have scored 5 but I'll take the 3 and hopefully putting the last games firmly behind us ready for the race to the line.

Injury crisis seems to have been short lived !! Like the look of the defence we’ll obviously have far sterner tests but that back four are big strong and rugged , plenty of physical teams in this division and MB coped well also with the pace of Harris . Rico will be massive miss for us especially going forward, but ironically he was in need of a rest before he was injured , such a shame we couldn’t have given him one before his hamstring went , but that was a good start without him .

Glad you said that was just composing a reply myself. Posters just saying they see and it hasn't been good. Just another arrogant post as usual

Good win, Reid MoM. However should have made more of the chances in the second half and got the second goal sooner. Against stronger teams there will not be as many chances so we need to get the conversion rate up again.

Good second half performance, having Toney on the bench and bringing him on was a real boost to the team. Thought, we showed a bit more character tonight. Some cyncial fouls by HD and Canos before half time showed that we were not messing about. Pleased for the team and TF. MOM Reid but good performances from Canos, Janelt (again) and HD too.

Winston Reid has blown away the cobwebs, well and truly. For me, he reminds me of Harlee at his best - wins absolutely everything in the air. And also his presence is letting Pinnock get more involved, rather than just hoofing it upfield. He - WR - could turn out to be a real gem. Cool, calm, and with a head that is a ball magnet.
He's 10 times better than Harlee... 🤣

As much as I like Henry, I don’t think we missed him defensively. However, he might have run riot getting forward

Excellent performance and result.
Mads did great at left back, gives us a bit more height for corners etc. and playing him there means Henrik gets forward more... Whats not to like?

I would say lets see where we are at after Stoke if not another couple of games. Tonight was what was needed but it still wasnt fluid and our best performance.

The stats back up how poor SW were but also the fact we werent all over them.

....give it a feckin rest....not one supporter out there who isnt pleased about that result tonight after a tough few weeks....whats your game....trying to start battles when there isnt even a war.
There were a couple of comments during the match in the 1st half that were, shall we say, uncomplimentary. One poster realised at ht that he was a bit OTT.

Great team result. Everyone contributed, and proved we are the Subbuteo team - capable of bouncing up again, just after we’ve fallen over 3 times!

Best of all was seeing us start with a different line up, particularly up front, and that shows TF has been brave enough to try something different under all the circumstances.
Plus, also shows that we have a very flexible squad.

Whole back 4 were immense tonight, with Pinnock back to being Mr Reliable, Reid winning everything and then placing forward passes and headers accurately, MBS, doing very well in covering for Rico, and Dalsgaard playing like a captain possessed.

Dalsgaard had obviously torn up his position sheet, and was playing everywhere from right back to being the mot forward player on the left wing. Brilliant.

Was Rhodes even playing tonight.

Ghoddos showing that he has real skill, and turning into the player we hoped for.

Janelt once again superb. He is heading for my player of the season!

We didn’t get out of second gear because we didn’t need to. It was a great win in the circumstances. I’m still happy to take a point from Saturday’s game but hope for more.

Janelt once again superb. He is heading for my player of the season!
He really is going to be a very special player. There was a moment when Raya gave him the ball, edge of our box back, back to their goal, 2 or 3 Wednesday players in close proximity and just took a touch and turned them all so calmly. From there we broke forward into attack, but in that one moment he showed the class he has got. Immense to have such self confidence at his age. I hope we keep him forever!

Before Mr. Untouchable does his fact check and gets us all hyped up, I would just say:

1. Delighted with the win. It was urgently needed. The only team that was going to beat us tonight was ourselves.
2. I'm not going overboard with how good the defence and WR looked just yet. That team have scored just 21 goals all season. And it showed. If we can't look tight against SW, I really would be worried.
3. The best things about tonight are 3 points, some extra recovery time for our injured players and I hope, some rediscovered self-belief and confidence.
4. Pity that the other main teams all won (I don't count Muff as they were daft enough to appoint Woodgate).

Every reason to be hyped up good sir.

You can only beat what’s in front of you and tonight we’ve done it without our captain, best LB in the league and the best finisher in the EFL. Never mind also missing CN, JDS and others.

No worries tonight, MBS did the defending well in Rico’s role, and then there for the goal.

Plus, Dalsgaard was covering for Rico as well, by getting on his bike and doing the forward runs on the left wing!!! 🚵‍♀️🐝😊

ridiculous over reaction to some but to others it showed a problem that needed sorting......you think tf doesnt think we were utter garbage on saturday and needed to do something about it or did he just get lucky tonight ?? if the first thing you do when we win is slag off other brentford fans to make a cheap point then bully for you.......its exactly the same as those who come on here when we lose to say told you so secretely pleased they were right ;)

We haven't missed Rico from his performances in the last 3/4 games as he just looked knackered (he isn't the only one). However, after 1 game not sure I would be writing we didn't missed him defensively. Losing him for 6 weeks is a massive blow that we need to cope with and far better teams than Wednesday will test us on that side in the coming weeks.

fantastic result........just knowing that toney was on the bench is so moral building for the rest of team and us........reid mom closely followed by henrik......lets be honest wednesday at the back were rubbish and they are defo going down......stoke will be a tougher test but with them losing a proper 6 pointer tonight it might have knocked em a bit.......fancy us to sneak a 1-0 now sat and set us up nicely for the norwich game :) well done tf for playing the right line up from the start but i cant re-emphasise what a difference just having toneys name down on the bench made ;)

lets hope weve turned the corner
Wednesday have a better defensive record than us.The players listened to Thomas after Saturday’s car crash and got their rewards.
