Just been to the Pat Jennings night at BA club in Cranford.

They say you shouldn't meet your heroes, well I'll argue the point. A very good mate of mine is a mate of Andy Mac and sat on his table so happy to introduce me to Jackie Graham, Alan Hawley, Bobby Ross, Big Tel, Andy Mac and Deano.

All were decent, Andy Mac and Tel I've met before but Deano was quality. Obviously knows his football and reckons best side we've ever had and rated Adam, Sav and new boy Tarkowski .
Told me he wasn't really fit to play against Peterboro as bad dead leg but turned out so they had to mark him and give Bliss space. Never offered to stay for anything let alone £75k but has hear the story before and said really gutted when we lost at Brizzle and disappointed that we ended up signing has beens who didn't care.
Reckon he's on same fitness plan as me but top bloke and never really warmed to him before but genuinely pleased to talk football and massive love for Brentford.

Andy Mac is superb fella, but the old school of Jackie, Alan and Bobby are brilliant. They all so polite, love the bees and are great ambassadors for the club.

QPR Academy are based at BA and one of the QPR coaches went out of his way to meet Bobby and greet him like a long lost friend as Bobby had first taken him as a young player to QPR when he was working with the youth set up. The coach was so pleased to see him and thanked him.

Was a good night at BA

For some reason, never ever regarded Deano as a Bees legend. Going back to when he was sold - it was evident that Brentford went out of their way to ensure Millen stayed probably at the expense of Deano. Also allot of talk at the time that Southampton offered us 1.5m for Deano as a replacement for Shearer but told they would pay us in instalments (waiting for the Shearer money from Blackburn to come through) but we decided to take the Wimbledon offer for half as much with full payment and add ons.

Going back to the Trophy presentation day at GP and the open top bus to The Civic Centre.
The speech that Deano gave that day it was obvious that he was on his way, I thought he might have taken that opportunity to tell us he was staying, but it was not to be.

Is a Bees Legend IMO

Same as you mate, as good and as important as he was to us that season, never worshipped him as I did Tel, Bliss and Neil Smillie. Pleasantly surprised on Thursday at what a decent fella he was.
