Lukaku " injured " for Belgium
I believe he is resting as they have a tough away game against the new boys in town

But it will be a narrow defeat for us
Chelsea one nil with a deflected winner

2-2.
We play our part in a 4 goal thriller.
Bryan bags one and Wisssssaaaaaah gets one coming off the bench.
Chelsea miss a pen.
Jorginho falls over a lot and Anthony Taylor gets his VAR in a twist.
Crazy night and we feel we should have won.

Maybe we will. 3-2 Bees. Wissa with the winner. Ivan a handful.

Get in behind Alonso and Azpilicueta and we may get something out of this but I suspect we will defend deep in numbers most of the time. Hopefully Ivan will pull Rudiger out wide and win headers for Bryan to run on to like against Liverpool. This game worries me as Chelsea have a massively talented squad but maybe 0-0 going into 80 mins then Wissa comes on and, well, you know...

Most difficult game of the season so far.

Absolutely quality players all over the pitch and in reserve, and one of the only teams that can match the defensive desire that we have.

Going forwards, what worked vs Liverpool and Arsenal might not here. Raya will face unbelievable pressure on the ball; at best he will have far less time to pick his passes and at worst it might force a big mistake. Can’t see him having the time to drop the ball on Toney’s head very often.

Forgot to add my prediction.

0-3 unless we pull something really special out of the bag.

FiveThirtyEight has us has having a 41% chance of picking up some kind of result, be it a draw or win:

A cracking 1-3 defeat that wins us lots of plaudits again, personally I look forward to Leicester fans hating us after we beat them the following week

I am glad you are not giving the team talk pre match

I keep predicting them so I'm not willing to change my formula.

In fairness I’m not trying to motivate a group of footballers just give my prediction for how the game is likely to pan out.

Motivating the players each week I think is probably quite straightforward at the moment:

Unlike (for example) Norwich, we haven’t had a season in the PL before to set expectations. Our team has pretty much never played at this level before. No one really knows just how good we are or what level we can reach. On evidence so far, the sky is the limit for much of our squad. Chelsea are top of the table at the moment but if we win on Saturday we will be just a point behind them. Factor in stadium will be rocking and there’s some chance of a shock as long as everyone puts in 100% effort.

Will be interesting to see how we come back, mentally, from our first big defeat. So far just a single (unlucky) 1-0 defeat to dent our confidence so far.

Anything is possible with this BFC team. We’ve shown that we can perform with excellent and well established PL teams.

Whatever happens it’ll be an entertaining game but I’m with @Voice from the Braemar. The Bees to edge it 1-0 and Bonjour Kenneth earns every penny of his overtime after the game.

he's right though. Really tough game, we won't get away with the same tactics as v Liverpool on this one so we'll have to play really well and defend better than in that one. Think we might give them a fright but their quality should show through 3 - 1 to them I fear..

I'd take a draw now. But then, I've said that about a couple of away matches this season where we bagged more :)

Brum only needed 0.000000000001 xG (ish!) to beat us a few seasons back. Pah to stats 😉

It does feel like Chelsea is a step too far though for us, but so did Liverpool and West Ham. Heart says we'll get a point or three, head says 1-3 away win.

Confident Brentford victory - the won’t be able to handle the atmosphere of the bees fans. Last time I went to Chelsea , work do , a large portion of the fans were tourist. It would be interesting to know what percentage of their crowd are season ticket holders as its not difficult to get to see them play. COYB

Hoping for a 1-1 and a brilliant game for all to enjoy. Pontus to score late equaliser, the goal he has got so near to grabbing recently.

Surely we can't do it again, can we? In all honesty they probably have far to much quality throughout for us to handle, so they will probably win. However, they will know that they have been in a tough battle and I have a sneaking feeling that we just might get something out of this. A draw would be fantastic, but I'll go for a sensational 2-1 win that will send a big message to the other title contenders.

Proper stress test for both defensive units, given the sheer physical presence and general play making ability of both strikers. In Reece James' absence I think we'll target Azpilicueta and Chalobah as the former isn't the quickest when up against pace (Rico) and the latter hasn't really been properly tested in the lg yet given he's generally been used offensively to recycle attacking play.

Important that we don't isolate our two up top so it's vital that we don't play a too defensive three in midfield as they'll just hog the ball and outnumber us all over the pitch.

One thing is a given - we will give them a proper schooling in terms of pre-match records. Not content with our usual diet of Primal Scream, we played the Velvet Underground at the Oldham game. When we played them at theirs in the cup replay, they played Level 42

I thought we'd give Liverpool a decent game, but ultimately lose. I went for West Ham to win 2 or 3-1 as we were due a bad performance.

So I'm predicting Chelsea will have too much for us I'm afraid. 2-0 to them, Lukaku clinical, Werner missing a sackful then one goes in off his a*se to seal the win

I think if we can survive playing the european champions and keep it down to 2 chelsea goals we would have done very very well

1-0 Bees. Toney 79th minute header from a Canos cross. Ten mins plus stoppages watching through my fingers and trying not to soil myself.

Nervous about this one but then I was against Liverpool and West Ham. But we're gonna keep it tight and Ivan is going to win it with a pen in the 86th minute. If that happens up the East end then I'll be in trouble. I wont be able to contain my excitement - I'm in E115 - so having probably had a "bit of an accident" I shall then be trying to escape the Chelski mob with a sharpened pound coin wedged in me right ear'ole. I'm of a certain age and slower on me pins than I was. Better if were 3-0 up and they have left by then.

I’m not up to date on the recent ‘lesser’ injuries, but assuming that they’re resolved by match day and TF decides to stick with the recent tactical approach, then FTT, Vitaly and Christian will be pivotal to this. If they’re 100% on it, we’ll get some chances for Bryan and Ivan. Combine that with David being in inspired form again, then who knows? Head says 1-1, but fully on our game we fear no-one.

2-2 Mbeumo, Toney.
Loads of angry people get in late due to train problems & match not delayed as it’s on Sky. Loads of Chelsea in our end and loads of trouble when they score. BFC bans loads of season ticket holders for bringing their Chelsea mates. Loads.
