not overly confident we can get anything out of this one due to our form and bad timing with new manager effect.........at best a draw but probably 1-0 them..........hope im fkin wrong though ;) lol
My formula of predicting 1-1 has long stopped working.

I'll go with 3 - 1 Bees. Toney Hat Trick.

I think our recent run of results will continue and Newcastle will score early with a deflection or some such and then get increasingly nervous as we fail to take any of the two or three chances we create and hang on for a 1-0. Having kickstarted Burnley and Norwich's seasons I think it will happen again. Proper little ray of sunshine me, but things will start to improve in a few games' time.

There's no doubting this will be a tough one. They'll be well up for it, new owners, new manager... They'll come flying out of the traps full of energy, wanting to press us high up the pitch, we're going to need to stay strong and weather the storm.... BUT, they're not used to playing this way, there's no way they'll keep it up for 90 minutes. We need to make sure we keep it tight and try and pick them off on the counter. IF we can keep find our old defensive mojo again then I reckon we could nick it but that's a big if at the mo. Hopefully Brian Riemer has had them at it with defensive drills over the last couple of weeks and we'll see no more of those misunderstandings we've had in recent weeks..

Can’t see us getting anything from this. Awful time to play them - new manager, fresh from international break, atmosphere will be great. Everything goes towards a Newcastle win for me, although being the underdog seems to suit us a lot more, so fingers crossed.

Toney to be fired up and bring us home 3 points with a couple of goals. As GP said, back on track.

1-1 my only hope is Howe tries to change too much too soon, and the Newcastle struggle to maintain what he wants for 90mins, and we grab a win. But I'm heading into the game on the negative side.

Probably the worst time to be playing them. First game under a new manager, players busting a gut to impress him, a tricky one....2-0

Following Burnley and Norwich first wins of the season I guess Newcastle will make it a hat-trick of first time winners. As others have posted probably the worse time to be playing them, with our injury woes and the new manager bounce that they will have. So I reckon 3-1 to the Toon.

Need a Moulineux-esque performance from Christian at SJP, if he performs well I think we have a great chance. Would be even more confident if Shandon was available but it's probably too soon.

Bees play hoofball. 2-0 defeat.
Bees play football. 2-1 win.
Hoofball  when have we done that in the last 10 years apart from in desperation against Norwich.

Hoofball is a bit over the top, but we have generally been a lot more direct this season. Reached peak levels v Norwich though with Goode up front. Suspect that won't change at Newcastle as they'll want to press aggressively and we'll go long to escape it. Just a question of whether we can keep the ball up front and then play from there. Need Toney to be at his best and not get booked early on!

Well luckily I'm working until 4pm, and we always tend to do well when I can't watch. So reckon we'll be 2-0 up at half-time.

Bets are off in the second, unless someone wants to bribe me to stay late! ;)

Either a 1-1 draw and a reasonable result under the circumstances or 0-4 defeat and still falling and haven't quite hit the bottom yet. Confident they will though. Ivan Toney to score. He should enjoy that.

I think how we pass is key to the quality of our chances, the table below shows how our range of passes have changed from the Arsenal game to Norwich.

Opponent. Short/Medium/Long passes attempted

Arsenal. 103/95/99
Norwich. 211/258/124

Lots of useful stats to be interpreted here, no idea if what I am highlighting is of any use but Passes we made while under pressure from an opponent.

The highest was v Brighton 95
v Norwich 93

A very useful site, if we can work out from it what we do well and badly.

key is rediscovering our defensive mojo which has gone a tad awry. And of course taking our chances. Not too fussed about a new manager. Newcastle have been poor and Howe can't turn that around in a week. His teams press high and play with energy but this is the Prem so it won't be any different to most games in that respect so we know what to expect. No idea what the team will be which doesn't help. Draw.

Really difficult game for boys, with a massive home party atmosphere, sea’s of black and white team shirts as far as the eyes can see, new tactically aware manager and his team foaming at their mouths, eager to pummel us into the St Jamez Park gravel! So, I’m going 4-0 Bees, with Ivan popping a hatrick and Bryan opening the scoring inside four minutes!

We have to be better defensively which includes the middle of the park. 1-1.

I agree that, with a new manager to impress, this is a bad time to visit Newcastle. However, Newcastle have no recognised fullbacks that are fit or PL match fit. With this in mind if Howe goes with a back three and makeshift wingbacks they may cope in defense, on the other hand I suspect Howe will go with 'four at the back', which is his prefered formation.

The use of makeshift fullbacks will give our wingbacks loads of oportunity to get in behind and get crosses into their box. An example is Matt Ritchie, when used as a left fullback, has a tendancy to get drawn infield without a full awareness of who is behind him. This could be a furtile area of success.

I predict a exciting match with a score of 2-2, Toney to score both !

Another low standing team. I'm hoping Norwich and Burnley have kicked any complacency out of them. Both Newcastle and Brentford want this one badly. I reckon this is going to be a very good game. Brentford more organised, 2 - 1 to the Bees. Howe's system might have worked in practice but 2 weeks is a bit early to have it off pat, I can see some mistakes creeping in.

0.0, both teams happy. EH sorts out the defence and hasn't had a chance to look at the other end yet, Brentford squander some great chances but are happy to hang on at the end.

I hope Shelvey doesn’t play. Yes he may get sent off, but not before crippling a couple of our players.

Just don’t let in the first goal, as this seems to be our early downfall, even though we seem to get more dominant as recent games go on.

However, we disadvantage ourselves in having to play catch up, even though in reality we have matched or been better than every team we have lost the last 4 games against.

So get the first goal, and we’ll come away with a draw or even a win.

Let in the first goal, and with thousands of Geordies willing them on, and Howe looking to make a noticeable difference, we’ll have to be really at it to get the draw.

Being an optimistic Bee, however, 2-1 to us!

Not looking forward to this one, This match couldn't have come at a worst time, Everything seems against us, with 4 losses on the bounce, Depleted team, lack of goal scoring, Against a very loud 51,000+ baying Geordie crowd who have new owners, and players wanting to impress the new manager/coach who's had nearly a couple of weeks to get them a lot fitter and with some fresh ideas, Just hope our defensive coaches have been working harder than usual for this game, I would be more than happy with a draw.

They’ve scored first v West Ham and Spurs at SJP and then lost because they’re not very good defensively so let’s not let our heads drop and just keep at them. An early goal for us would shut them right up though- they’d not even have the chance to use it to focus on manager or owner.

I haven't seen any complacency, I have seen two piss poor first halves but no one was complacent in either game.

We are due some huge amounts of luck.
I stand corrected. I do find it strange that in the Championship League as well as 1/4 way through this season lower clubs do give them problems.
