They are not going to play such an open game like they did at GP last year (although I've just watched highlights of that 3-1 drubbing to get me in the mood).

They are going to be nasty, cynical and play a spoiling game, as that is the best chance they have of winning. They will try and wind us up, get someone booked or even sent off. Fulham last year showed in a one-off game, you can't beat us at our own game.

We still need to be attack-minded, but take no chances at the back. Defence has to concentrate for every second. That snide Ayew will be looking for every opportunity to fall in a crumpled heap. No gifts like yesterday. They are very good at sitting on a lead.

If we are confident and keep our heads, I think we win this 2-1.

Hmmmm tough to call. 1-1 in 90mins and then the rest is a lottery.

They will look to frustrate and hit us on the break. If we are switched on at the back i can see us edging it. They are no mugs. Ayew needs to be kept quiet and our CM has to be on its game.

They seem to have abandoned possession football but they are strong defensively and all I will say is please, please, please let us score first or it could be grim viewing. No more giving away weird avoidable goals in the first 15 minutes, not at Wembley, please. And don't give silly free kicks away around the box because Hourihane's left foot is a worry.

Hopefully we can turn it into an attack vs defence game like at their place and take our chances. I have 100% faith in the mentality of this team and our coach, the "bottlers" thing is rubbish. But it is a one off game so anything could happen. Strong ref needed. Judging from Saturday's games we should have no trouble outsinging them.

Nervy 1-0 Mbeumo

COYR!!!

This is the key. If our defence turns up we win it IMO.

I just hope we play the way we can and show the watching millions what this club is all about.
A bit like yesterday in fact.

If our midfield turns up we will win comfortably.

I’m going 3-1 Bees. I think Mbeumo will have game of his life with 2 and Toney (pen).

A few weeks ago it came into my mind that we play Swansea at Wembley and Bryan bangs one in from 25 yards in the first couple of minutes. Pontus stabs in the second from a corner after fifteen mins and Ivan scores his statutory penalty just on half-time. Swansea pull one back but the game ambles peacefully to its conclusion. For all that, Swansea are no mugs and if they take the lead we will find it hard to break them down. Defending along the lines of Bournemouth's two goals against us this week will be suicidal. If everyone is on their game we should win this. I would like yesterday's ref again in case they "target" Raya as Cooper admitted in the league game and perform their usual choreographed diving, fouling, and general cheating. I hope it's not Stroud.

Emotion is still there from yesterday but I've given some thought to the final. It'll be almost impossible to predict their personnel in certain areas and shape; as Cooper is a horses for courses manager, and very tactical in how he approachs individual games; studying opposition in great detail.

What is guaranteed is they'll want to slow the game down, be cynical and be ready to judge the dives; because they're coming. They'll also try and get into the refs face/head from the moment the ref is announced; listen to the pre game press conferences; they won't make for pretty listening and everyone in the Brentford camp need to focus and forget about the mind games.

Norgaard must be a major doubt; as well as Rico so do we play Roerslev with Dalsgaard moving into a back three! Personally I think Cooper will go with more pace with his wing backs and will play Roberts and Manning, instructing them to push our own wing backs into defensive roles; he'll also feel Roberts and Manning would have the better pace there, which absol means we have to tuned into the counter attack; even more so than Bournemouth and we know what happened there.

I think we'll go with the same attacking system; Mbeuemo in that roaming role makes it very difficult to defend against; it adds chaos and all the defenders are thinking where to move; allowing our other players more space.

I think the final is more than winnable; their defence is rock solid and despite how they set up have quality to score from almost anywhere 25 yards from goal. Fulham closed down the space last season and Swansea are naturally more defensive so it is a worry, but Toney has more presence when we go long and I think we'll score in this final within 90 mins although we'll need two to win it imo. Tough, tough final ahead for both teams but come on you Bees.

I hope :
We are still as up for it as we were at the finish on Saturday.
That we get a strong ,sensible ref.
That we get a raise the roof type goal in the first five minutes.
and go on to stuff them.

Prediction. Brentford 3-Swans absolutely nothing.

I think after yesterday, we now all to do one simple thing.

Forget the if’s, the but’s, the maybe’s, Swansea may do this or they may do that.

All of us need to do is have one simple thought, and just repeat it constantly to yourself and everyone else, between now and sometime around 5pm this next Saturday.

And if you doubt the following in any way, please, please just restrain from posting anything for the next few days. Now is not the time for doom mongers or doubters.
As per yesterday amongst the 4000 there, all we require is a focus and all our mind, spiritual, whatever energy we believe in, concentrating on this thought -

BRENTFORD WILL WIN!

we NEVER do things the easy way, but it is our time! 117th minute winner in extra time after 1-1 in 90.

Statistically they are a mid table team. They have not been high scorers. If we can get past 15 min with them not having scored I am confident we can win 1-0 in the 90. Scorer Canos.

Looking back over the previous PO finals, have we ever been such strong favourites? Maybe Yeovil, I can't remember, but this really is a golden opportunity. We are a better team than Swansea and we are actually playing pretty well at the moment (even the 1st leg v Bournemouth was ok, nowhere near as bad as some people made it out to be).

Predicting the score is tough, but I feel more confident than ever that we'll win this one in 90 minutes. Bees up Fulham down!

It is in our hands. If the whole team are on their “A” game, we will win.

We need to respect Swansea and not be paranoid about them. Let them be paranoid about us.

Last Saturday proved one singular thing to me, we are ready for the next stage of Brentford's journey.

If we play at our level and with the intensity of the last game we will win this. I firmly believe we are a better side than them. But as previously we were a better side than Yeovil and didn’t turn up. God I hope we can get this play off monkey off our back 🤞

An agonising, nervy 1-0 to the good guys.

Mostly just wishing for them to turn up on the day. A decent performance is the ask.

We need a good ref as they will be doing all the falling down antics.
Don't get caught out with no one back (B'mouth x 2)

I don't see either side smashing the other (result wise). Since their relegation to the championship amazingly we have played them competively nine times and they have won 4 against our 3, with two draws. 3 of their 4 wins came in their first season, since then we have edged it. So a tough one to predict, but I believe this season is our time. So a very close and nery win for the Bees.

This is key for me, it is why MB won the sending off (and with Janelt getting to the ball first to clear the ball up field), why MJ's quick cross led to a half clearance for Janelt and the relentless attacking that finally broke them. We just wanted it more.
Combine that intensity with concentration at the back and it'll be a day to remember!

3-0 Bees Ivan & Sergi in the first half, Bryan with a late one on the counter attack

Bees no show & a defeat against an inferior team that barely needs to break sweat to turn us over.

That’s what always happens.

I've had an update from our man in the field. Agent Bidwell has received same instructions as Agent Mepham. He assures us he won't let us down.

Well those lovely people at 538 now have us as 72% probability of winning (Oh Gawd).
Can we win? Of course.
Will we win? Yes, more than likely.
Five things that, in my view, are very important (in no particular order):
1. The whole team needs to find that balance between being "on it" for the full 90 minutes but also being composed when individual moments don't go our way.
2. We need to avoid any unnecessary risks and fancy stuff with the ball at our feet, in our own penalty area, especially in the first fifteen minutes.
3. As others have said, our midfield absolutely has to turn up. (Marcondes was very impressive on Saturday and deserves a start)
4. Officials need to be strong and not get taken in by all the diving, screaming and play acting nonsense.
5. Front line needs to be clinical in finishing. Swansea won't be easy to break down and Guehi, in particular, looks class.

Prediction: 2-0 Bees.

I think we really can win this time. It's our best chance. Third time lucky in Champ play offs. But we all know we can eff it up on the day regularly. For me, if we don't do it this time, we may never, certainly in the next x years! I'm going for 2-1 Bees. ( or god forbid, 0-1 Swansea) .
ps- don't think I'll have the nerve to watch as I won't get a ticket!

My son predicted the score and the order of the goals, including a late winner, for the semi 2nd leg. So I'm going with his prediction for the final as well, 2 nil Bees win with a late 2nd goal to keep it nervy! 👀
