A new thread needed, perhaps.
Congratulations to all concerned for finalising the Matthew Benham deal.
It must have been very hard work, and taken a lot of diplomacy, to sort it all out!
Let us hope it is now onwards and upwards for all connected with Brentford FC:sorted:

Yes, the for the Wheatley brothers to have transferred their shares in Brentford after a family involvement in Brentford for over a half a century is to be applauded, they must have carried an huge emotional value given what their father did for the club.

In short:

No interest is paid by BFC on loans by Matthew Benham. His £5 million investment is by way of preference shares with an option to convert this into the controlling ownership of the club in 2014.

Ron Noades has no involvement whatsoever in Brentford Football Club anymore.

Greg is still Chairman

Brentford are now almost alone in the bottom divisions in having a guaranteed future ahead of them for at least the next 4 years.

This is an incredible opportunity for the club to capitalise upon the stabilisation of the last 18 months and move forward.

it might well be the last such opportunity we ever receive so the next couple of seasons are crucial before a decison is taken as to whether or not MB takes up his option.

It means that Matthew Benham owns the club :sorted: I think it's great news
Seems to me that it's all rather nice having fans own and run the club. But, if the club is running at a huge loss it would appear we have three options. 1) Carry on with our heads in the sand and go bust. 2) Welcome exterior investment (which, as you rightly conclude, comes at a cost). 3) Cut the budget to break even which probably wouldn't even be enough to support Conference Blue Rothman's Dear Dora Square level. Seems simple to me, or am I missing something?

I think he's probably been very influential in these loan deals as it happens. I reckon he's an Ipswich fan. Almost certainly related to John Walk. Or Alan Devenshire .

P.S. Tinky Winky jimjams.

Until he appoints his CEO....apparently :D

My understanding is that there's no way he can be bought out so effectively now has a controlling share. We've all seen what's been happening to other clubs. He must have the club's best interests at heart as I can't see him getting any decent gain from what he's already put in to help the club. Bees United still have a covenant on the ground, and that's the only reasonably valuable asset the club has (apart from maybe Dickson and Macdonald. Oh and the Manager).

I reserve the football fans right to go off on one and call for his and Dykes head if I even vaguely don't like the new appointment.

Agreed. If you were looking to invest £5M for personal gain, throwing it at Brentford would have the men in white coats camping outside your door . That just leaves 'ego' and 'best interests'. My guess would be somewhere between the two.
