Yeah I agree he was likely identified as one of our "profit players". Whilst he has lost form which hopefully returns I reckon it's a business decision to continue playing him for the reasons you mention. This summer is ok in the sense Ivan, Josh, Rico, Raya and maybe Norgaard will all bring huge amounts of money into the club. You could be looking at £70 million there. This is when I suspect we'll reset and instead of reinvesting much of that we'll identify potential and promote more of the B team, reducing our wage bill. We dreamt of being a Norwich, our next aim might looking at becoming a Bristol City; mid table championship club aiming for that 6th spot every season. The hope would be we can remain around mid table and not put ourselves at risk of falling further down the league.

I personally think if we were to sell Mbeumo we would get at least what we paid for. His age, his record last year and also in part his stats this year. Not got the goals but he has the assists.

These accounts as with ever other club would have not been substantially affected in any way. Most clubs ( except premier league are around 50 % season ticket holders. What was it about 9 games played after the first lock down ? If we say 6000 tickets per match 5 of which could have been at home. Say £ 30 a ticket, that’s about £ 800,000 income lost ( I’m not counting food, beers etc as these would have been cancelled and will be negiliable in these figures.

contracts with players have been honoured by all. Last season the lower leagues i think 2000 players were out of contract and released. Economically new player contract salaries have to be less, clubs have large cash holes, they will be forced to let players go or offer much reduced contracts.

We may be forced to sell to cover, honour ongoing contracts but others will be in a much worse position. Not just here but football across the globe will be under enormous pressure.

All this data we have on players around the world, please don’t think for one minutes we don’t also have all the financials on all the clubs and their owners that we may or may not be in negotiations with. We will be fully prepared, much more than most.

This I believe will offer opportunities, who best to have steering the ship in troubled times ? Calm, clear thought processes, yes the numbers may change, the model may be adapted but I back our guys to be in front and ahead of these changes than most if not all other clubs around us. The club will know how we have been affected and be able to apply this and use it. It’s business that’s all, an emotive one certainly, but the people in control at Brentford will keep calm heads.

Out of every negative situation comes opportunities. It may take a couple of more years due to parachute payments become an even larger influence but we will get there.

I’m note sure how much Covid affected us in this set of accounts. From what I remember we had sold out the remaining games and most fans decided to let the club keep the money so I doubt we would have lost a lot on revenue. Possibly just away ticket revenue.

We only had about 6,000 ticket holders so we lost out 5,000 fans revenue for those six (?) games.

Just to clarify, some fans buying home single match tickets got refunds. Away fans tickets 1,800 x 6 were refunded also, which makes up the 5,000.

6000 season tickets to 11000 sold for the following season, 5000 x £500 = an increase of 2.5 million income, most of which was left to roll over.

People got refunds for these tickets. I did for extra tickets I bought for my family members for the WBA last scheduled evening game at GP.

Everyone got refunded automatically AFAIK. I don't remember an appeal to donate money to the club. I had some matchday tickets purchased and was refunded without asking.

By absolutely smashing your wage cap, what we would have done is sell him to Brentford for £4M because theirs absolutely no way in this world we’d be able to keep him without outside investment.

People got refunds for these tickets. I did for extra tickets I bought for my family members for the WBA last scheduled evening game at GP.

I didn’t get a refund on my season ticket for the last five matches. I think there may have been a tie up with free view or it’s equivalent, whatever it’s called. Maybe I should have asked, but I didn’t. It doesn’t bother me cos mine is at seniors rate in the first place( i.e. discounted), plus I had good value entertainment last season anyway!

We pay way more in wages than we bring in and try and cover it with transfer fees, it's not complicated. When we fail (because of Covid or otherwise) we have a generous owner to help out, but we have managed it well enough that we are well within FFP limits.

The new stadium means I expect MB hopes we will be able to more or less break even when crowds are back but that is based on continuing to make profits in the transfer market. The more profit you make in player sales, the more you are able to up the wage budget and keep the likes of Watkins a bit longer.

Barnsley may well use 100% of their income when deciding their wage structure, we use different parameters. Therefore we didnt 'smash our wage structure' when extending OW's contract.
