Here we go, more Brentford gold courtesy of Pathe/Reuters. Brentford's record crowd at GP, 38678, squeezes in to watch Brentford once again bottle it in the 6th round of the FA Cup. Great scenes of boys being passed down the Ealing terrace and an early Pittman attempt at crowd entertainment. At one point a crowd of fans surges through an opened gate, whether this adds weight to the theory many more were in GP for this game than officially counted or whether it was staged for the cameras who knows. A Bee attacker flattens the Leicester gk at one point as well :D

Enjoy

must have been an incredible day despite the result, if anyone invents a time machine it's high on my list of days to visit...….

doubt many amongst that massive crowd could have foreseen the club almost going out of existence less than 20 years later, what could have been with some investment from a Matthew Benham in the late 40s or early 50s?

A client I was a carer for until recently was at that game. He’s from London originally but moved to Leicestershire and followed Leicester everywhere - then fell in love with Everton!?

My late Father was at that game standing on New Rd.He used to say Leicester City were our bogey team .Not sure how true that was but it certainly applied on that day ! Great pictures and as an earlier poster said Time Machine allowing I would have loved to have been at GP for that game and a few more in our halcyon days in the thirties.

The ER and corner with the NR looks much bigger in that movie, can’t see how they can be but they certainly seem so.

The steps were very shallow so you could get more people in plus no floodlight pylons is probably the answer.

I wonder whether my dad and granddad were at the game - most probably.

Sad that we now struggle to 6000 ST holders for our last season at GP.

Many thanks.
Most of the other 32,000 are probably no longer with us.

This was my first Brentford cup game aged 10 standing on a stool made by my Dad at the front on the Breamar Road Terrace

Fantastic! Not many older Bees still around who remember those days and especially Div 1.

Write down your memories, your thoughts, your dream team, your favourite players.....before it’s all lost. No matter how trivial you may think your memories are......;)

We need a memory bank to store this info for later generations. :sorted:
