First of all, to get it off my chest. Chelsea's goal was fantastic only to be out done by their goalkeeping. Last 30 mins edge of the seat stuff. Brentford might have lost but it was not without effort and pride. Hitting the woodwork twice, Chelsea at the end were reeling under the constant pressure. Hmmm. Does seem to me that until the whistle was blown everything there should be reviewable. Both offsides and penalty decisions are separately reviewable, so…

Last season we had VAR every five minutes and were told it was working brilliantly and we just had to get used to it. This season it's nowhere to be seen, despite Ivan Toney being half strangled in the box.
Actually not our best performance today, but we totally deserved a point for the heart and guts we showed in the last 20. I take my hat off to Pontus, who was absolutely brilliant, especially when he was playing up front. Players looked so disappointed at the end but thanked the fans, apart from Raya who.went straight off chatting to all the Chelsea players.

Another fantastic performance that maybe only the champions of europe could of stopped us getting a result with. As a football fan I have to credit their first 70 minutes, they got their tactics spot on and looked a classy team but even in that time we hung in there and were brave in the last 20 minutes playing three up top. We were so unlucky not to get a point but we again proved we're very much a PL team.

A fantastic and proud evening, only disappointment for me was our fans shouting that "chant". Equally I was very proud with Peter Gilhams message shortly after it about discrimination and the "chant" thankfully wasn't heard again.

I don't think we need to be banging on about the ref after watching a performance like that. It's football, sometimes decisions go your way and sometimes they don't.

We've just had the best defence in the league having to scrap, scramble, deploy a bit of gamesmanship and rely on their keeper to make 4 exceptional saves to keep their clean sheet. We were bloody brilliant in that last half an hour! I know we didn't get the result but let's focus on how good we are instead of moaning about decisions

All in all most Bees fans left the ground disappointed in the result not the performance. Chelsea obviously did their homework on us and it showed in the first half and trailing 1-0 was about right IMO despite Bryan having the best chance when he hit the post.

The last 30 minutes of the 2nd half there was just one team that dominated and that was us. They had a superior bench than ours but our subs made more of an impact than theirs. Yes I am disappointed we lost but one just needs to see the final stats of the game we had 7 shots on target to their 1 which they scored from and Mendy was MOM. That tells me everything. Let's just be proud where we have come from and made the Champions of Europe sweat for their lucky win. They know they got a lucky win but the future is red and white and we belong in the Premier League. That alone I am so proud. Gutted we lost of course but proud of our team competing and being brave taking the game to the elite.

But I suspect the injury itself was rather spurious. Didn’t he make another great save shortly after? It’s quite common for teams to disrupt play late in the game by wheeling on the physio with the magic sponge when they’re under the cosh, in order to break up play. I don’t blame Chelsea particularly because all teams do it. Where it’s wrong is when the refs don’t add sufficient time on. Maybe the time should be recorded by another official. That might learn ‘em. By the way, I thought that linesman (the one who flagged for offside) was rubbish. He gave them a throw in when it was the Chelsea full back who kicked it down the line before it eventually went out! Unbelievable Jeff!

Chelsea may have dominated much of the first half but they only had 1 shot on target all game. Raya did not have a save to make. We were unable to get anything from the game because of Mendy, bad luck and/or bad finishing on our part. Margins are fine in this league and we came out on the wrong side this time. But we steam rollered Chelsea for 30 minutes tonight, they had no answer. Although we lost I feel we have truly arrived in this league. We have nothing to fear from anyone.

We deserved at least a draw, and it was so close, so very close.

The Toney penalty incident - I think he was just onside. Since getting home, I’ve watched it very closely.
As Jensen hits the pass, Toney is actually onside, not necessarily by Chalobah, but by the Chelsea player on the far side nearest the linesman.
So a penalty in my opinion.

Yeah, how the expectations have changed over just 8 games. Started the season dreaming of a finish just above the relegation zone to thinking that a 12-15 finish is a strong possibility, to expecting a top half finish, and now being disappointed that we didn't at least take a point from the European Champions!
