Champions of Europe hanging on just mainly thanks to their rookie defender Sarr and a brilliant keeper

Cant be disappointed really

We still have 12 points and dont have hone games with Arsenal Liverpool or Chelsea any more

Didnt see the game, but is this a valid point?
Picked up from the comments in the Guardian.

”Mendy injured for 4 minutes and Taylor added on 4 minutes. No time added for subs etc. Another injury during stoppage time that took three and a half minutes and Taylor added on one minute.
This isn’t the first time the stoppage time mysteriously disappears with Taylor.”

First of all, to get it off my chest. Chelsea's goal was fantastic only to be out done by their goalkeeping. Last 30 mins edge of the seat stuff. Brentford might have lost but it was not without effort and pride. Hitting the woodwork twice, Chelsea at the end were reeling under the constant pressure. A loss is a loss but it is also how you lose. Very well played Brentford.

Doesn’t matter if the Lino has his flag up, unless the ref blows his whistle then play continues. Ref didn’t whistle until after Toney was fouled, should have been a penalty.
Hmmm. Does seem to me that until the whistle was blown everything there should be reviewable. Both offsides and penalty decisions are separately reviewable, so…

it’s not even just a question of “was it a penalty?” so much as “why wasn’t so critical an incident reviewed?!?”.

Exactly - we left everything on the pitch. Still can't believe we didn't score in the last 20 mins. The Champions of Europe didn't have a shot on target in the 2nd half. Let thank sink in.

At the very least it should have been eligible for review
Last season we had VAR every five minutes and were told it was working brilliantly and we just had to get used to it. This season it's nowhere to be seen, despite Ivan Toney being half strangled in the box.
Actually not our best performance today, but we totally deserved a point for the heart and guts we showed in the last 20. I take my hat off to Pontus, who was absolutely brilliant, especially when he was playing up front. Players looked so disappointed at the end but thanked the fans, apart from Raya who.went straight off chatting to all the Chelsea players.

Leonardos personal opinion of an incident "clears everything up" remember folks.
Must admit, I was quite surprised that post didn’t finish with the word FACT, just to emphasise its non-negotiability 😁

In fairness I did think that Toney did not need much encouragement to collapse during that incident

And only 2 mins in the first half when Frank was down for 4 minutes,

Also need to remember we didn't have Janelt, Ajer, Wissa, Dasilva, Sorensen in today's team or squad who all would bring something extremely useful to our XI and bench. With a bit of luck, unlike today, we're definitely looking at the top half and not the bottom 3 places. Yoooouuu Bees 😍🐝⚽

The song on the HT whistle sums up what we should all think of this team, love the journey they're on 🙂.

Another fantastic performance that maybe only the champions of europe could of stopped us getting a result with. As a football fan I have to credit their first 70 minutes, they got their tactics spot on and looked a classy team but even in that time we hung in there and were brave in the last 20 minutes playing three up top. We were so unlucky not to get a point but we again proved we're very much a PL team.

A fantastic and proud evening, only disappointment for me was our fans shouting that "chant". Equally I was very proud with Peter Gilhams message shortly after it about discrimination and the "chant" thankfully wasn't heard again.

Onto Leicester we go 🙂
What chant?

Tonight was possible bonus points. Sometimes you just have to accept your not quite good enough. We were very slow starters . Not denying we were unlucky but just didn’t quite do enough. gave Chelsea too much respect 1st half and left it until last 20 til we gave it full pelt. Still enjoying we’re we are at but it’s fine margins and whilst it’s still fine margins im happy cos that means we are doing better than the bottom 3.

The one against the vulnerable and historically marginalised Chelsea male youth sex worker community?
Ah that one.

I wasn’t at the match today and didn’t hear online so genuinely didn’t know what you meant.

I don't think we need to be banging on about the ref after watching a performance like that. It's football, sometimes decisions go your way and sometimes they don't.

We've just had the best defence in the league having to scrap, scramble, deploy a bit of gamesmanship and rely on their keeper to make 4 exceptional saves to keep their clean sheet. We were bloody brilliant in that last half an hour! I know we didn't get the result but let's focus on how good we are instead of moaning about decisions 🤷‍♂️
Well done. Nearly said something similar.

Loved that effort today and was so proud of everyone involved, including many thousands of BFC fans.

Must admit to having got quite frustrated and nearly losing in with one or two twots in my vicinity who tried to spoil the occasion by inexplicably whinging about that performance. "Nothing like how we played against Liverpool" (pretty much the same, I replied). "Jensen out of his depth at this level" (f*** off, he's a Danish international and looking every bit the part). And the other bloke who spent the entire match shouting in the whiniest voice imaginable, "come out and tackle them for god's sake Brentford" (I might have to squeeze your testicles if this continues).

Our bench were giving the fourth official a mouthful on the final whistle on that very point.

All in all most Bees fans left the ground disappointed in the result not the performance. Chelsea obviously did their homework on us and it showed in the first half and trailing 1-0 was about right IMO despite Bryan having the best chance when he hit the post.

The last 30 minutes of the 2nd half there was just one team that dominated and that was us. They had a superior bench than ours but our subs made more of an impact than theirs. Yes I am disappointed we lost but one just needs to see the final stats of the game we had 7 shots on target to their 1 which they scored from and Mendy was MOM. That tells me everything. Let's just be proud where we have come from and made the Champions of Europe sweat for their lucky win. They know they got a lucky win but the future is red and white and we belong in the Premier League. That alone I am so proud. Gutted we lost of course but proud of our team competing and being brave taking the game to the elite.

Spoil the occasion? Just concentrate on watching the game rather than worrying about who’s behind you or in front of you making comments. You pay your money you take your choice.

Their previously cock-sure fans desperately whistling for full-time well before injury time just about sums up how good a second half performance that was!

But I suspect the injury itself was rather spurious. Didn’t he make another great save shortly after? It’s quite common for teams to disrupt play late in the game by wheeling on the physio with the magic sponge when they’re under the cosh, in order to break up play. I don’t blame Chelsea particularly because all teams do it. Where it’s wrong is when the refs don’t add sufficient time on. Maybe the time should be recorded by another official. That might learn ‘em. By the way, I thought that linesman (the one who flagged for offside) was rubbish. He gave them a throw in when it was the Chelsea full back who kicked it down the line before it eventually went out! Unbelievable Jeff!

Chelsea may have dominated much of the first half but they only had 1 shot on target all game. Raya did not have a save to make. We were unable to get anything from the game because of Mendy, bad luck and/or bad finishing on our part. Margins are fine in this league and we came out on the wrong side this time. But we steam rollered Chelsea for 30 minutes tonight, they had no answer. Although we lost I feel we have truly arrived in this league. We have nothing to fear from anyone.

No wonder that ***** supports Chelsea. A perfect match. They are the herpes of the Premier League.
Wow!! Of all their army of dickhead celebrity fans you’ve got a bee in your bonnet about one of the nicest, gentlest, purveyors of achingly beautiful music??!

Brilliant performance. So very proud of the team’s all round effort, and creating panic in the Chelsea defence.

Outstanding persistence throughout that last 20 minutes, when even Tuchel admitted we had them under total pressure.

Phrases like Neville’s "Brentford threw the kitchen sink and everything else at Chelsea” summed up how much we ran them ragged.

We deserved at least a draw, and it was so close, so very close.

The Toney penalty incident - I think he was just onside. Since getting home, I’ve watched it very closely.
As Jensen hits the pass, Toney is actually onside, not necessarily by Chalobah, but by the Chelsea player on the far side nearest the linesman.
So a penalty in my opinion.

Awful refereeing in so many ways, with constant free kicks to Chelsea, and after the James injury time incident, the ref didn’t allow the full injury time!

Finally, what was Jeremy Clarkson doing in the South Stand Legends Bar, when he is a confirmed Chelsea supporter.
Should have been chucked out!

This game just shows that we can mix it with the very best, and that suddenly we are commanding a lot of respect from established PL clubs.
Superb Bees!

"We kept them to five shots, five shots, I'm talking about Chelsea. That is impressive. I can't ask for more; if we play this game 10 times, we win nine." Thomas Frank

Still a great day to be a Bee. Time to beat Leicester in the next one.

Absolutely gutted we lost 1-0 to the European Champions.
Yeah, how the expectations have changed over just 8 games. Started the season dreaming of a finish just above the relegation zone to thinking that a 12-15 finish is a strong possibility, to expecting a top half finish, and now being disappointed that we didn't at least take a point from the European Champions! Brilliant management and team doing great things for football considering the huge gap in finances with the big clubs.

Like these comments from a Chelsea forum about the last 20 minutes -

"That is an onslaught on Chelsea I haven't seen for long time."

"We are being pummelled. If this was a boxing match, we’d have had the towel thrown in."

"It was like the Alamo out there for us."

We are getting this too.
Everyone who sits in front of us treats it like their one and only time and are like f***in yo yos.
My lad sat next to a Chelsea fan.
It was pretty obvious, but what can you do.
I have done the same over the years so I can't complain.
