Let's face it, despite 62 pages of heroic poetic effort over the 15 years from the start of this thread, it's been outshone by "****ed by a bus stop"

I do, but either my ear is not finely tuned enough, or some other reason to do with melody, diction and rythmn.

Seriously? And you've never heard the Said Benrahma, Ollie Watkins or Henrik Dalsgaard songs? Or people saying "Riiiiiicooooooo!!"??

Thought Forest were quite loud first half last night. One of the few teams to do the Wendy house justice this season. Very few of these generic modern songs either.

Do feel we need some songs for pinnock, norgaard and Jensen. Although don’t like stealing other clubs songs I do like Si senor by Liverpool. A chant which is clear to distinguish as soon as it’s sung:

How about to the tune of si senor :
There’s something that brentford want you to see
Best in the word, he’s better than Messi
Our number 10
Give him the ball and he’ll meg you again
He’s super said
He’s taking us all the way to the premier league

Ok poor effort I know have always wondered about former player songs that could be sung in the pubs for a promotion party to celebrate our journey

My dream is to hear it echoing around and around all three sides before it's too late .......Come on Bees, please let's do this! :bound:

I sit in N504 in New Road. Probably the quietest section of the ground. Used to sit opposite in Braemar. That was pretty library-like too.
The problem is that our section is full of old lads like me, give or take the odd youngster. It’s a bit of a triumph that half of us make it to our seats. The energy enquired to start chanting would likely see most of us off. I do try to put some enthusiasm into “Come on Brentford!”, ably assisted my my son who, at 38, is barely out of school cap and short pants. However it probably doesn’t catch on, as most of the rest of the section is doubtless half deaf and have forgotten to bring their hearing aids.

We’ll be in The North Stand in Lionel Road. Hopefully there’ll be a few livelier and younger members nearby who might get us rocking. A pity that will be too late for “We’re the New Road”, etc.

If there are any other GPGers in N504, please feel free to join in. 💀

Thanks for the reply, and YOUR efforts johndub, respect.
I know the feeling regarding the 'old lads', (might even give you a year or two).....but if I was there, rest assured I would still summon up enough energy to exercise the old vocal chords!
But to be more positive, surely there must be a few young uns, amongst our crowd of 10kplus, who can give it a go?

I would love to hear the 'Griffin Park Chimes' ringing round the Old Girl, before we finally jack her in.

Any brave souls that can help get it going, please do so .....I'm convinced it would be a winner.......and what memories it would hold :bound:

It does happen in Ealing Road to a certain extent already.....
All be it:

"We're the right side,
We're the right side,
We're the right side Ealing Road!!"

"We're the middle,
We're the middle,
We're the middle Ealing Road!!"

etc.......

Thanks badgerbee, at least that gives me a bit of encouragement......

But, how about, the WHOLE Ealing End singing " WE'RE THE EAL - ING" etc, then we would have THREE times the number singing at one time!
(See what you can do in spreading the word)
Hopefully, we could then encourage the other two sides, NR & BR, to follow on independently.....with the whole three sides belting it out in turn!
Spread the word on ER...and see if we can get it going v Boro..........well worth a try.

What a great way to see the Old Girl off :bound:

Will give it a go on Saturday for you Smiffy!!!
Although I do suspect when I start it off, the specific positions within ER of the singers will be added in!!!
How about: "New Road, New Road, give us a song!!!" To try and get it started from there?
Hopefully they respond with:
"We're the New Road
We're the New Road,
We're the New Road Griffin Park!!!"

Great Stuff badgerbee, will need to change the lyrics to include ALL of Ealing Road though .....think they'l soon catch on if you can get it going!
Love the NEW Road 'give us a song' bit, and as you suggest THEY should respond accordingly.

There was a story by Jonathan Sachs, the eminent neurologist, that was made into the film Awakenings about people who had suddenly gone into a coma forty years before and were in a catatonic state until, one day, they all suddenly came back to life and started doing all the things they had been doing in their youth. I don’t know what made me think of that, to be honest. The old memory ain’t what it was.

Some 6 or 7 weeks ago I put pen to paper lifting the lid on the team’s HMLD - High Metallic Load Distance - which, if you remember, are figures which measure the total amount of high speed running a player does, coupled with the total distance of accelerations and decelerations throughout a session or match.

The match figures continue to make very impressive reading, and its worth highlighting, following the mightily impressive 5-1 victory at Hull, a selection of stats, in particular from our purring, turbo charged BMW.

You may be able to work out who did what...one of them achieved a sprint distance of 308m, the most he has ever recorded in a match whilst another was only 7m short of his best ever sprint distance in only 80% of game time. The third, HMLD apart, totally tore the hosts to shreds and scored a hat trick!

These impressive HMLD figures were, once again, evident throughout the team.

Now its our turn to impress in our own HMLD - Home Match, Loud Decibels. Lets get all three sides of our fantastic old stadium rocking, not just from the off and throughout the remaining home games, but pre-match also.

Every away game this season, our loyal fans have out-sung the home fans regardless of being outnumbered, and that is recognised and remarked upon by the team back in the dressing room after every game.

One of the reasons is that as fans we like the players to know that we’ve made the effort to be there, and the fact that we are all located in the same area and proximity to each other means that the vocal support is that much better.

So let’s apply that to all of our remaining home matches. Let’s make sure we let the players know we are there and make the three sides of the ground, New Road, Ealing Road and Braemar Road sound as one.

You may have heard me before say that the best support I have ever heard from a home crowd was when we played Middlesbrough in the fateful Championship Play Off Semi Final 2nd Leg back in 2015. I still believe it was totally down to the incredible noise level throughout the 90 minutes from their fans that saw the home side through.

With nine home games remaining lets play our part, even more so, in this amazing, emotional season and what better time to start is this Saturday when Middlesbrough visit. Let your inhibitions go. Your voice really can make the difference and have a domino effect on others. “Come on Brentford”.

Here’s to record HMLD figures for Players and Fans alike!

That Middlesborough away game was deafening. We just couldn't get heard until the last 20 mins or so when the game was won. I sing my heart out at every game I attend despite being in my 50s but really hope we can see the old girl off with some special atmospheres for the last 9 and maybe get the best Bees team I've ever seen over the line. COYR!

Thanks badgerbee!
I even heard a whisper that MR BRENTFORD very much likes this idea!!!

Perhaps if we can get some more fans to commit to singing the 'Griffin Park Chimes' he might be persuaded to start it up v Boro?
BUT, what we need first is for a dozen or so fans on each side of the ground to say they are going to take it up.
We've made a good start, but we need a few more to add their names (& the side ER,NR, BR) to the growing list...ON THIS THREAD.

(Were he to take it up, I would not like MR BRENTFORD to be embarrassed, by flogging a dead horse.)
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE commit to joining in!
I am convinced that with ALL 3 sides taking up the 'Chimes', GP could have a terrific atmosphere for the run in, and would make all the difference to our chances of promotion.

C'mon you Bees fans, let's do this! :bound:

YOU can do your bit in getting the Bees promoted.....please put your name down to add YOUR voice to the cause.
I would really like to be able to ask MR BRENTFORD to get behind this v Boro........but to save any embarrassment we need the numbers HERE first!
PLEASE add your name (& ER, NR, BR)........in the vital run-in this really could help create a vibrant atmosphere at GP.

Please Bees!

We're doing ok...... BUT, we still need a fair few more to commit to the 'Griffin Park Chimes' (see lyrics above).
IF we get the right numbers HERE first, then maybe we can get MR BRENTFORD to test it out v Boro.
Getting GP to have a great atmosphere for the run-in, and really help the team in our quest for promotion....is something that ALL our fans can help with.
C'mon all you Bees Fans, let's do it............Please add your name (& side) BELOW

It would be viewed as a bit non-league if MR BRENTFORD was going round trying to whip up each stand, also many people don't come in till the last minute, and often they'll be chatting and not really listening to what's going on. During the game would be good still, but depends on take up. Good Luck

Exactly Griffingreen. The last thing I want is the embarrassment of Peter G having to do that.
That is why we need to have sufficient numbers on here, before we even TAKE it to Peter G.

However, I am CONVINCED that if we could have 'The Chimes' ringing round GP from one side to the other it would create a great atmosphere for the players to respond to!
(Pro-active, rather than Re-active)
At the moment it doesn't look like enough fans have bought into it (but my sincere thanks to those that have!).
However,if you feel that it is still worth giving it a go.....please get involved HERE !!!....Thanks

Fife Bee, (a New and enthusiastic GPG'er).......I wonder if can you get this ere 'Clarkie' to start off the GRIFFIN PARK CHIMES.....that would be great!!!

Last time I heard, Clarkie (of Blessed Memory) is too sick to attend these days. He was a stalwart of the New Road and our away support in the 1980s. Huge loss.

Have to admit Smiffy that at first I thought this was a bit of a naff idea but given the context of it being the last few weeks at GP then I’m warming to it.
Seem to remember Highbury and old WHL pulling it off.
With the best will in the worldI can’t see it happening organically so would need initially to be orchestrated (presumably PG best bet there).
Count me in.
We’re the Braemar, We’re the Braemar....

Right, this is it!
Time is running out.....and with 9 games to go, are we leaving GP on a whimper?
.....or, are we going to 'loudly & proudly' belt out the ‘Chimes’ from all 3 sides from now on in?
MR BRENTFORD quite likes this idea, and perhaps it might make a fitting choral tribute to our beloved home for over 100 years. I suspect that he ‘could’ be persuaded to orchestrate it,
PROVIDED SUFFICIENT NUMBERS SIGN UP TO IT.
We now need some more ‘leaders’ (we’ve had a few) on each side to take it up.
If YOU think it’s worthwhile & will join in, get involved, and ADD your name & (ER, NR or BR).........H E R E!!!
Let’s get the numbers to present to Peter G. (for Saturday v Boro).......and away we go!!! :bound:

We can hand out these chant sheets from NYCFC, we can just Tipp-ex the mentions of NYCFC and replace with Brentford ;)
