History is just that, today was about the future, the ground well, it’s premier league no doubt, the team are a premier league team in waiting. We are 90 minutes away to merit our 3rd place. If we play well we win. Today was about so much more than a football match it was about a reconnection with our past and a jump into the unknown. Frank is ready, the team is ready and I think we all are as well. This time next week may be the best feeling any of us have ever experienced following this club. I can’t wait - Football bloody hell eh ? Don’t you just love it....

Think I'm gonna be sick. But I will crawl to the line for these boys, barf-stained jersey and all. Now let's DO THIS THING.

Do you think Woodgate and Begovic will apologise in public to the referee after their outrageous comments after the game?
“The ball rolled up his leg on onto his hand”?
Come on lads. Do the decent thing and try to recover a small amount of class.
Absolute stonewall penalty which surely, after seeing it on the TV replays anybody would acknowledge.

To each and everyone of the Bees fans in Lionel Road yesterday, you made Susan rock! What is the place going to be like at capacity!

An awesome game, a complete narrative from start to finish, exhausting yet exuberant, all wrapped into on single occasion.

Onwards, upwards, Beelieve 🐝👍

Absolutely amazing result.

but let’s not distract from the fact

AFCB were reduced to 10 men
We defended like idiots twice in a row from a set piece

we need to be 100% on point next Saturday.

we need to be the new Team. The new heroes. The new Brentford Football Club.
As we have shown - being down to ten men needn’t be a handicap in the modern game.

I‘d love to ask the ref how Begovic remained on the pitch at the end. There were multiple occasions when he blatantly wasted time in a manner that deserved a (second) yellow card. An explanation as to why the ref didn’t run over to Begovic, tell him enough was enough, and the next time he carried on taking a minute to line up a goal kick he’d be booked, would be interesting to hear. He was literally wasting time for 80 mins of the game.

Hopefully he‘ll get charged by the FA for his comments on the referee after the game.
Quote simply, NO referee in a game of that magnitude is going to destroy it by sending a goalkeeper off for time wasting. It is as simple as that whether you like it or not.

Unless it’s your likes of Clive Thomas or Graham Poll trying to get the limelight

A few meandering thoughts from me:

This was my first time in the new stadium. Wow. I will miss GP and nothing will replace those memories but we have a new home fitting to replace it. It really is unlike any other new stadium built in the last 20 years and never will there be an accusation of it being identi-kit.

Also, bravo to whoever designed the acoustics of the stadium. Putting aside the importance of the match and quality of the crowd, when the fans went up, everybody heard. Nearly every report of the game mentioned the crowd. The Telegraph called it ‘hostile.’ I have no doubt that we contributed to the result yesterday.

Please do not repeat putting every outfield player in the opposition box for a corner. We nearly came unstuck in the second biggest game of the season. Let’s not do it in the biggest game next week.

The penalty on another day might not have been given. I accept there is some force in the argument that it was harsh. That being said, players have learnt to adapt and hold their arms behind their backs because they fear a penalty being given in similar situations. For me it’s quite simple - if you have your arms up, you give the referee a decision to make. This time the decision was penalty.

Bournemouth have been a lot like us in years gone by and have floated around the lower leagues. I mentioned on another thread that I admired them when they had hard, honest players like Steve Fletcher. But what have they become now? Many other clubs have complained about their diving and cheating and dark arts and this was evident before yesterday. But yesterday was a different level. Players going down at the slightest touch, horrific time wasting at every opportunity and the least said about Bobo Begovic the better. I doubt any neutral could have watched that and had any sympathy for Bournemouth.

Bollox to any suggestion we had lots of luck. The red card was nailed on. Janelt put himself in where it might have hurt and had his reward. He deserved that for his performances this season.

An excellent free team performance yesterday. Absolutely no passengers. Both Mbeumo and Canos have saved their best form for the business end of the season. Jensen had one of those games where everything worked for him. Marcondes and Toney were both everywhere and apart from the goal, our defence was rarely troubled.

Hey Jude and Celebration at the final whistle were just perfect.

So we head to another play off final. The circumstances are very different to last year and I am sure we are better equipped for such a game too. I believe we have better players than Swansea. I believe TF will get the better of Cooper.

It’s our time. COYB

He was a total embarrassment, shameful performance.
.................Pinnock waits to take a long throw...........congestion at the near post with justified jostling.............Bergovic gets a nudge in the ribs, delays then pole axed holding his knee then his lower leg then his ankle..................realises the ref will give him nothing so jumps to his feet remonstrating..............classless dick ................

Just looked up the xG on infogol - Brentford 3.1 - Muff 0.4. Their goal was literally their only scoring opportunity. Only remember that happening once before. What a complete performance. Same again next Saturday please 😁

So much of the media is commenting today on the enormous noise level of 4000 people and the unmitigated Brentford support.
And the totally hostile atmosphere within the stadium to everything Bournemouth did, or rather didn’t do, as they must have spent a chunk of time wandering along touch lines, or catching a bus to retrieve the ball for a goal-kick.

Begovic not even wanting to catch a bus to retrieve the ball!
Plus, Begovic and Woodgate’s comments about the crowd and us getting on the ref’s back.

What a supreme accolade to all of us there, to see the important part we played in the demolition of their team.

We now have created an immediate new identity for the stadium, which will be up to all of us to maintain, as follows -

It is a churning cauldron of noise and unmitigated an complete 90 minute support, where no visiting team will be greeted with a friendly smile!

I think that there now has to be a warning sign put up to visiting teams’ supporters -

‘If you have any hearing problems whatsoever, then please be advised that you will find the noise levels in this stadium surprisingly higher than those which you may have been used to elsewhere!”

Being there was tremendous.

I really couldn’t believe there were only 4000 of us there. The noise was rocking around the stadium the whole time, and the stadium acoustics seem to hold it in, and reverberate it!

There was only moment of total silence!

It was when Ivan took his 2 strides just before he struck the penalty and he thumped the ball into the net.

From silence to mayhem noise in 2 seconds!

Brilliant!
That was a surreal moment.

Cant remember GP being that quiet before a pen, even the Trotta one.
Maybe after for that one.

Hoping to see a grimace from Cooper, although I may not be able to recognise it.

Wonderful incident packed entertainment. Such raw emotion. Can we repeat that next Saturday?
I'd rather somebody phoned me at ten past three to say we are 4-0 up and they are down to eight players. I could bring myself to switch the game on then. :)

And a word for the ref. That was a hellishly difficult game to officiate. So much going on and tempers constantly on edge. He was absolutely superb in my opinion. Got the big decisions spot on. Didn’t get taken in by gamesmanship. Calm demeanour reduced the temperature at flash points. A masterclass.
He has impressed whenever I've seen him and is better than most EPL refs. He needs to be there. Hope being Australian doesn't count against him.

He's being fast tracked I think, has been VAR for a couple of EPL games already.

Watched it all again. Nerves still f*cked. Every single player was immense. Not really sure what to say. Will be some job bringing everybody down to earth. Job only half done.

Ditto just rewatched the game this morning. One of the all time classic Brentford games. It had everything. Didn’t realise yesterday when I watched it in a crowded bar but Don Goodman was so biased towards Bournemouth. We should have had at least a couple more penalties. A tad jealous of all those supporters that were they but my god they did us all proud. As you said Job only half down.

He missed a second penalty when Toney was taken down from behind however.

its all been said already but i'll add to it by saying its one of the greatest moments ever of following the bees since 1976......a real shame that some of the vftb juniors couldnt get in and had to watch on tele but thats the only downside of a tremendous fkin day with me and my daughter not quite believing what we were seeing....it was truly mental and those that couldnt be in there weve got a proper fantastic stadium with acoustics to match......that 4k in there won us that game....and frank knows that too......it sounded like 40,000 and more......whatever happens next weekend (and i truely believe this is our time and for once we wont feck it up) this game will never be forgotten.......well done to TF and the players and most of all to the fans there yesterday......fantastic

mate.....i know how you feel....3 of my kids didnt have enough taps and had to watch it on tele too......it was insane and ive been telling em about it all day !!! proper gutted for those like yourselves who deserved to be there as it was proper special but hopefully a lot more to come with a full ground....just get yourself along to TW8 area next sat for the celebrations after the game.......there will be thousands upon thousands turning up if we get the result we deserve and i hope the club dont under estimate how many will be turning up to join in and they make sure its all done properly........will be 'scenes',,,,,,,,,,,fkin hopefully

I don’t doubt that. It wasn’t an easy spot though. When it first happened I saw Toney go down but couldn’t be sure why. It took a slo mo to clearly show it. Those come and go with the game. VAR would have picked it up but I would MUCH rather have a game ebb and flow like it did yesterday with all its imperfections than have it constantly stopped and started
