I think people who feel we have a chance to keep it respectable or even get a point, because its at home, are totally underestimating Manchester City.

They aren't just a good football team, but their movement, interchanging, slick passing, weight of pass and total understanding of where their team mates are on the pitch are like nothing we have ever faced.

If we are trying to take them on with players who have been on loan in league 2, players out of position, players who are defensively weak I feel we will concede at least four, and if City are in the mood 6 or 7.

With a fully fit team we'd have a chance to hold out. But it's no criticism, just facts, I think we may get absolutely thrashed.

Fortunately it is a one off game and service will return to normal competitiveness for future games.

Man City are light years ahead of what we have faced and we are doing it with a really depleted squad.

Delighted to be proved wrong but I doubt very much I will be.

I think Boris needs to introduce a new restriction between now and Thursday, that Man. City are not allowed to be with 2 metres of a Brentford player at any time, and that there can be no more than 6 Man. City players on the pitch at any one time.

These are rules that have already existed in one way or the other during the last few months.

Plus, our defence needs to be in complete lockdown!

I’m looking forward to it because it was always going to be a mismatch and now more than ever. Maybe we’ll get battered or maybe there’ll be an against the odds performance that will live long in the memory. It’s what this season is all about. It’s like an exciting FA Cup draw when you’re in L2. So enjoy it as such.

It’s not all negative despite the pessimism about the result on this thread.

10 years ago we were about to embark on a run that would see us slide down the League One table and result in the sacking of Andy Scott. We finished below Rochdale at the end of that season. We are currently shaping up to face the best team in world football in a battle for league points because we are in the top flight on merit and are ahead of Leeds, Newcastle etc.

Our injury crisis this season sees a full Spain international in goal for us. Ten years ago, it was a well-past-it Simon Royce.

We also had more postponements back then because of weather and poor pitches that we’ve had this year because of COVID, frustrating as that has been.

Provided we play to the best of our abilities, whatever side we put out, I will be happy. I would go for 6-3-1 in the Nigel Gleghorn derby. I would like us to score first as that is my default position against a really good side.

Not seen this lot play this season but have England’s John Stones in my fantasy football team and based on his points return they are atrocious.

Might as well start this now.. we are very unlikely to see Bryan or Henry for this game. Janelt will still be out with Covid and Norgaard will be suspended. Can hope Zanka or Goode make a return but it probably wont help us much.

Bees are 18/1 to win this game, I don't think I've ever seen the odds so stacked against us before kick off, might be worth lumping a £5 on just in case something crazy happens.

With a first half performance like against Brighton, we will be severely punished against City if we give the ball away so cheaply. City have been scoring bags of goals lately and have virtually no injury, covid or suspension concerns.

I fear for the worst, damage limitation will likely be needed here. Will be no shame in losing by a few goals to these, they are seriously good.
