Was a very frenetic and poor first 20 mins…but Brighton have committed to press harder than us and slowly take control of the game. They now look totally, and utterly dominant - we need half time!

Much needed HT. 15 minutes to remember how to build play and pass the ball. Brighton have pressed very well. But we need to be better than this. Worst I've seen Norgaard and Pinnock play for the Bees.

Anyone else think we might need a change of system? I really like our set up against the bigger teams but against teams where I feel we should be dominating or at least seeing more of the ball it feels like we aren't taking the fight to but rather ceding possession and allowing wave after wave and the constant targeting of our wingbacks.

Also sidenote - Sergi keeps committing to 5050s that he rarely comes out winning leaving us exposed time after time. Love the enthusiasm but needs to temper it when we're not comfortable...

Even when we were going well I said the PL requires a few different systems. If you stay static against these top quality coaching teams you'll get found out very, very quickly. Granted injuries and Covid isn't helping us but I do think we need more than one way of playing, particularly as we start playing teams for the second time. Tonight isn't a good sign of what might be ahead against teams who have already played us.

Very poor performance so far. So many having an off day. Struggling to get into their half and being steamroller in midfield.

Woeful, heads gone from a few players. Aside from that there's a couple of players who simply aren't premier league standard and I think frank has to be more imaginative in his team selection to avoid using them where possible.

Totally agree - the opposition know how Brentford are going to line up, so, you neutralise Canos & Henry/Thompson and Brentford have no attack. Sitting ducks

Really poor so far, only Toney has remotely impressed me. Even Christian can't complete a simple pass.

Misses City because of it. sh*t reffing

I don't think this is a problem to be honest. Our defence isn't strong enough to cope with City, it'll be a great occasion but a few of our best players missing it isn't the end of the world.

In short, to stay up we need most things to ‘go our way’. Given all the injuries I reckon our position is about as good as we could expect.

And the glass half full is that we can still put out a decent team that should be able to hold its own with a now reasonably established Prem team.

OK, maybe not! :(

If we manage to get one back before they score again they might get a bit panicky , here’s hoping.

Also please can we get a right back soon , Sergi needs to be in his best position.

I’ve come to terms with the fact that, given how TF wants us to set up, some games our system works and other times it won’t. Went it doesn’t work, it really, really doesn’t work. When it does, it really goes. That’s my feeling

I drove almost an hour to an Internet cafe in Anchorage for this! Come on Bees, have been totally inept so far. Still plenty of time to turn it around.

It has got too predictable already, it is the reason why teams who don't have different options struggle in year 2. We might be starting to see that issue already although I do think we'll get enough points to survive this season.

How the hell is Toney going to score when all his work is being done at a minimum of 30yds from their penalty area. Its a common theme this year.

He's an absolute beast working his socks off, but it's really frustrating too.

Come on boys! Let's get an early goal and get back in this

We are down to the bare bones. Just a blip. We will be better when we have players back. Could rest everyone v City as it is a game I expect to get nothing from. COYBees
Agreed. We’re without:

Raya
Ajer
Rico
Janelt
JDS
Roerslev
Zanka
Goode
Bryan goes off injured

We’re running on near empty. Some people on this thread ought to know better.

We need to be able to keep the ball to get us up the pitch. Currently the midfield/forwards are just giving the ball away far to cheaply. This is putting us under pressure and allowing Brighton to counter us with ease. Hopefully this will improve 2nd half and we can get back into this.
